Parada (2011)
Really disappointed :(
As I am a gay man in Serbia I feel very competent of giving criticism about this movie. I must admit that I laughed a lot and that is the main problem. The movie is about 85% comedy. The main gay characters are very stereotypical. The transformation of Nikola Kojo's character Limun from partly homophobic to tolerable person feels very forced. This should had been heavy drama. That is why I didn't feel the message reaching out to public. The sad ending is the best part of the movie. However it felt out of place since the rest of the movie felt like commercialized comedy. Srdjan Dragojvic, I am very disappointed with you.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
Brother, sister, love, and war.... In one word beautiful but devastating.
Hotaru no haka, hotaru no haka... I'll never forget this sentence. It all started by simply putting my DVD in the drive, and ended, well, in lots of, lots of tears. I never felt such emotional impact by movie before. This film changed my look at animation. This movie is so harsh, realistic and sad, that you'll stay shocked for quite a while. It shows that war is deadly beast taking lives of Innocent people, especially children. The way the bond between brother and sister is depicted is truly amazing. It shows how small things are important even in dire times, when death lurks behind every corner. If you have chance to see this film, do so, but be prepared for beautiful, but shocking experience. A No. 1 classic, not to be missed by anyone.
The Fox and the Hound 2 (2006)
Such a great cute movie!!!
I only have one thing to say. Wow! The film blew me away just like that. Firstly, the story is very possible, because it might have happened before Copper went to train and then grow up. The story is about Copper meeting one singing stray band and finding about his talent that he can sing. In this midquel the friendship between Copper and Tod is put on test again. I'm very pleased with the voice cast. Not single one character felt one dimensional. Dixie is my favourite character because when she has fight with the Cash (the leading band dog), she is very, very funny. Secondly, the animation is very good! It's bright, crisp and fluid and looks expensive, not cheap at all. Finally, we come to music. The music and songs are simply amazing, starting from band songs to Dixie's single! To sum it all up, this movie has good story, good animation, funny humour, very likable characters and finally super music score. See it, you won't be disappointed. I give it 9/10, but I would like if Disney didn't put number 2 in title as this is midquel, not a sequel.
Superman (1978)
Awesome!!!!
I rented it on DVD and was blown away!!! Christopher Reeve did such a great job as Clark Kent and Superman. His Clark Kent is hilarious, clumsy and geeky. His Superman is handsome, vulnerable by fillings like human and show off. I love the parts of movie where Superman is smiling and at the same time showing off. I must compare it to Superman Returns. When I saw Superman Returns I didn't know how to feel. I didn't feel anything, like it was lifeless. No humor at all, Brandon Routh looks like a kid and computer animation was so obvious that I thought I was watching video game. Superman The Movie looks much more realistic without gloomy effects. Singer should stick to X-Men (X-Men 3 is great movie not made by Singer)
Brother Bear (2003)
Very, very touching movie! A must see!
I've read about this movie in local magazine where the critics said that this is just an average Disney movie. And for some reason I believed them. Boy was I wrong! I had a chance to see a copy two days ago, and it's already 2006. First thing that caught my eyes was very lush scenery and hand drawn animation. For some reason I find it unnatural to see many computer generated objects in 2D movies. In this movie, there are very few of them. Secondly, I found the story very refreshing. The story is well paced and there was never a dull moment. There is balanced portion of action and fun, which is excellent for kids and the rest of the family. I loved the soundtrack, and I don't realize why so many people find Phil Collins irritating. Finally, the voice overs actors did a great job. I felt strong emotions while watching movie, almost as strong when I watched Lion King 12 years ago. I won't tell anything about the main plot. I will just say I watched this movie two days in a row. For me, that is great achievement. And I can summit all up in three words: friendship, love and magic.
