The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021)
Beautiful experience
This film put a smile on my face. To say it in advance: I know the franchise from the game. Afterwards, I watched the series and now this movie.
The atmosphere is fantastic. I immediately felt transported back to the times when I first played the game.
Of course, this is not a game adaptation but a book adaptation. But no one can tell me that the creators of the series and the movie weren't inspired by the music and scenery you see in the game.
The movie feels like a longer main quest with a wonderful story. I'm lying here in bed with a heavy cold and fever - this is the perfect movie for a cozy feeling.
As I said, I realize that the series is based on the books. I have not read them and am writing this review from my perspective as someone who knows the franchise from the game.
Solos (2021)
Unfortunately pretty boring
Plot and setting are not connected. Story about an exhausting old woman.
No one has to share my opinion, it may be that I am too critical.
But what definitely doesn't work is that virtually every positive review comes from a user who just created their account and has only given one review so far. In my opinion, series whose producers invest in such manipulations do not deserve any attention.
Army of the Dead (2021)
It's Awful
When will this movie stop? Generic plot, generic characters, dialoge as heard in thousands of movies before.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Will the next season be with only kids?
I enjoy the story but dislike the actors. Every one is below 30 years old and is trying to act as if he would be 50+. All those cliche roles and moves (spinning gun and looking like a cowboy for example) really grind my gears if done so badly.
I guess Netflix studies have shown that with this set you'll get the biggest audience. (Sorry for bad English)
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Meh
I guess I am spoiled from series like The Boys, Doom Patrol and now also WandaVision. I'm in the middle of the first season and got to say that I find umbrella academy pretty boring. Everyone is being an ass to each other. But not in an interesting kind of way. More likea boring kind of way. And the dialogs are boring too. Nothing special.
Edit: After finisching the whole series, I cannot wait for the next season. Forget everything I said. It's a great series.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
I don't know how to feel.
I gave it a try without checking the reviews first, so I wouldn't be biased.
Movie is boring as hell. 2-3 intense moments, nothing more. Don't know what story the movie tries to tell us. Background info about "The Event" that gets mentioned in the first few minutes : Almost zero.
I am a huge SciFi Fan. I forgive pretty much if a movie at least has some strong properties. But this didn't please me at all.
Upload (2020)
Hmmm
I don't trust those positive reviews here. Well, we will see.
A Cure for Wellness (2016)
Switzerland is not Germany
Why the hell won't movie people understand that Switzerland is not the same as Germany. The Movie features German talking people with a German accent while they also listen to German Music. It makes the movie seem kind of dumb.
El hoyo (2019)
Tense
The movie was really tense. I like the scenario. But I don't get why they made such a bad end for such a good movie.
A Night at the Roxbury (1998)
Baby don't hurt me
I ony watched the movie because I saw the awkward dancing sence on 9gag and kind of found it funny. I fast forwarded a lot but enjoyed the movie still a little bit.
I Am Not Okay with This (2020)
From "what the?" to "meh.. " to "yeah!"
So for the first few episodes I thought, "What the hell is this? I guess I'm not one of the target audience." But it just kept getting better. By the fifth episode, I was laughing really hard. And by the end of the last episode, I was like, "Hell, yeah!" A shame the season only is so short. Can't await the next season.
Titans (2018)
I enjoyed the first season
I loved the first season. Music and atmosphere were superb.
Now I'm at episode 5 of season 2 and somehow very bored. They talk too much.
Tonari no Totoro (1988)
Hearth warming, like a good tomato soup
I cried and smiled. This film was so innocent and beautiful. I'll never forgett it.
Gunjou no Magmell (2019)
Good setting, bad end
I loved the beginning. Episode 5 was awkward tho. And the last 2 episodes were predictible and nothing sepcial.
The rest was beautiful and creative. I hope that season 2 will explain the background story of this story.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Boring
I haven't bought a bluray in 3 years. Today I had a sudden change of mind an descided to buy john wick 3, wich I haven't watched in cinema before.
I enjoyed the first movie a lot and also the second one.
But I regret buying this movie.
As others already pointed out, the film has an absurd storyline. Most of the movie is fighting scenes. And those are pretty boring.
Alot of dialoges are trying to copy the groove of the earlier movies.
The Invention of Lying (2009)
Original, funny and philosophical
In Netflix I choose the worst looking film cover. But the film was beautiful.
Sorry for my bad English.
