Threading Needles
Kweku, an African immigrant with a scholarship to an acclaimed university in America, is in love with a Caucasian young woman and struggles to preserve his culture in modern America. When two police officers, one African-American, the other Caucasian, walk into his familyÂ’s restaurant where both Kweku and Carly work, his world is turned upside down. Officer Derek sees Kweku as a foreign disgrace, while Officer Tom hates what Kweku and Carly represent.
When the neighborhood drug dealer’s younger brother is murdered, Kweku finds himself entangled in an urban war. How does an African immigrant, still naïve about this new life, find his way out of this mess and fight to fix his strained relationship not only with Carly, but with his own African Community. Kweku is forced to make a life-changing decision that will not only affect his life but the lives of the people he loves most. How does he thread this needle? It gets a lot worse before it gets better.
Directed by award-winning Director Jamal Hodge (An African-American in Russia).
Threading Needles is a cross between ‘Lakeview Terrace’ and ‘Crash’ with an edginess that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Kweku’s struggle with a new culture sends him on an unbelievable emotional rollercoaster. As compelling as this story is, Director Hodge has been able to create a groundbreaking film, which is both moving and touching. Rest assured, this film will not disappoint.
