Gangsta Swing, Love Thing
Gangsta Swing scene from the movie, Love Thing, the last American musical comedy.
It is late at night and Chi-Chi (Joaquin La Habana) is alone with her memories, dreams or maybe nightmares of a career as a cabaret performer. An uptown nightclub from the swing era comes to life as Chi-Chi makes a grand entrance joining her revue of dancing boys. The fantasy switches to film noir black & white as ladies of the night and gun molls strut their stuff in a honky-tonk brothel. On top of a piano, Chi-Chi lounges seductively like forbidden fruit. A gangster enters packing heat and not satisfied with just any gal, picks Chi-Chi for his attention. He discovers more about Chi-Chi then he bargained for and feels threatened. As the red-hot jazz (by Joel Diamond) reaches a climax, the gangster reacts to someone different in typical American pop culture fashion. Filmed during the late 1970s at NYC club locations.
Directed by Mike Mannetta.
