OWNED
OWNED is a crime drama about debt.
After having served eight years in prison, Francisco Espejo (aka "Cisco”) is finally free. His time away has helped him become a man of greater insight and restraint, ready to put the past behind him to start a new life. Upon his release, Cisco is reunited with Sean, his loyal
friend and the only one who really knows him. With his best friend beside him once again, Cisco heads back to his old neighborhood eager to find a more peaceful future in the place of his violent past.
However, some things never change. Cisco’s hopes of starting over are shattered when his old partner in crime, a local heavy known as "Big Time M,” confronts Cisco about a $10,000 debt Cisco still has with him. Cisco comes to realize what is lost is never forgotten as Big
Time demands to be repaid soon and in full. With no money to his name, Cisco is forced to face what may be his only option in clearing the debt: kill Big Time's rival drug dealer, an up and coming, hot-headed youth known as "Bender."
Cisco has to make the painful decision as to whether or not he can resurrect his old self. It seems no matter how hard Cisco tries to move on, he is unable to break away from the people and situations around him.
OWNED speaks to the futility in trying to escape one's pastÂ…and past debts. After all,
EVERYBODY OWES BIG TIME.
