People Like Me
People Like Me is the story of the Young Actors Workshop, a theater group made up of people with Down Syndrome and other developmental disabilities, and Drama students from Syracuse University. The troupe meets every Monday evening for several months, and puts on a show, to a packed house, at Syracuse Stage. Young Actors has been going on for more than 20 years, and dozens of people with Down's, and hundreds of drama students have participated. The great impact is that both groups find a creative voice within themselves, form close bonds with each other, and a passion for the stage. Many drama students decide to change their careers to arts education.
