Country star Jelly Roll has released his new single, “I Am Not Okay,” the musician’s first solo offering since his hit 2023 album, Whitsitt Chapel.
The tender tune is centered around the pluck of an acoustic guitar but becomes massive with stadium-sized drums, atmospheric synths, and even some orchestral flourishes. But, obviously, leading the way is Jelly Roll’s singular voice, as he bellows, “I know I can’t be the only one/Who’s holding on for dear life/But God knows, I know/When it’s all said...

Jelly Roll has already collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Wynonna Judd, but there is one superstar he is begging to sing with. Who is his dream duet partner?
What To Call Jelly Roll In Public
Jason Bradley DeFord is known to the world as Jelly Roll, the musician who seamlessly jumped from a career in rap to becoming one of the hottest country singers right now. He first gained attention in 2023 with the release of his Whitsitt Chapel album featuring the lead single, “Save Me.”
His career blew up practically overnight. He recently told the Taste of Country Nights podcast that he still goes to his local grocery store despite his stardom. The “Son of a Sinner” singer said that people approach him to say hi but rarely ask for photos.

But if you see him out in public, don’t call him Jelly Roll.

Jelly Roll is still “giddy like a child” after performing with Eminem last weekend. The country star joined the rapper for a “Sing for the Moment” performance at Detroit’s Michigan Central concert, and the country star simply couldn’t believe it was happening.
“When I think about coolest moments of my career, right now at the top, there has to be this thing that I got to go sing with Eminem in Detroit,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “Just what an incredible night, and I got to go do it in Detroit.

Those who have been on the internet long enough have seen fake collaborations between Eminem and Jelly Roll. To be fair, it’s easy clickbait. Both artists have massive followings with more than a little crossover between the two. As a result, countless fans are out there hoping the two will come together on something. Thursday night (June 6), it finally happened. They performed “Sing for the Moment” from the 2002 album The Eminem Show. Thursday was a big night for the city of Detroit. Hundreds of residents gathered to celebrate the grand reopening of the Michigan Central Station. They didn’t...

It’s been a long time coming, but a reboot of the 1994 cult classic film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow 2024:
Not A Remake
Lionsgate has informed us that this new version of The Crow, which we have previously been referring to as a remake, is not to be called a remake. Rather, the film is to be referred to as “a new adaptation of the comic book.” They have also revealed that the tragic characters at the heart of the story are not named Eric Draven and Shelly Webster,...

Jack White returned to his hometown of Detroit on Thursday night for a performance at the Eminem-produced Michigan Central Station concert, celebrating the rebirth of the city’s once-shuttered train station.
Commenting that some of the songs he was playing were “written a few blocks from here,” White delivered an impassioned three-song set that featured a performance of “Hotel Yorba” within eyesight of the literal Hotel Yorba building, and closing-number “Seven Nation Army,” which included a moment where the crowd sang the iconic riff acapella before the band came back in with blistering energy. He also Jimi Hendrix’s “Hear My Train a Comin.'”
White’s set marked his first performance since his “Supply Chain Issues Tour” and 2023 Saturday Night Live appearance. Directly after he played, Eminem took the stage for a surprise performance that included the live debut of his new song “Houdini,” and ended with an anthemic rendition of “Not Afraid.

HFStival, the long-dormant, yet supremely iconic Washington, DC-based alt-rock music festival, looks to be making a comeback in 2024.
Today, the social media accounts for both the 9:30 Club and Nationals Park in Washington, DC indicated the festival would return on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Nationals Park.
Organized by the great alt-rock radio station Whfs (R.I.P.), the original HFStival ran between 1990 and 2006. At its peak, it was the largest music festival on the east coast, drawing up to 90,000 attendees annually, with lineups headlined by the likes of Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Eminem.
After Whfs flipped formats and became a Latin pop station in 2005, one final HFStival was held in 2006 before the event went on an indefinite hiatus. The festival was briefly revived in the early 2010s with a pair of scaled-down events at Merriweather Post Pavilion, before again going on hiatus in...

Marvel's best couple is coming back to try and save Sony's woebegone live-action Spider-Verse one final time. With "Morbius" failing to make "It's Morbin' Time!" happen and "Madame Web" falling harder than Dakota Johnson trying to pop the lid on a soda can, it's up to Tom Hardy's lobster tank-diving journalist Eddie Brock and his tater tots-snacking, gooey-hearted (and just plain gooey) boyfriend Venom to keep the studio's hopes of a viable "Spider-Man" extended universe alive. (At least until Aaron Taylor-Johnson's nose-biting Kraven the Hunter arrives to usher in the next Yuletide season classic.)

American rapper Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) is once again scoring headlines with his latest track that is, apparently, aimed at making his “career disappear.” This comes after he announced earlier this year that he would soon be jumping back onstage after over four years, with his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace). Eminem has returned with “Houdini,” the lead single from his forthcoming new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
“Houdini” is the first single to arrive since Eminem announced The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) last month. In the corresponding music video, a portal from 2002 opens, allowing his former-self from his to step into the present. From there, he recreates his iconic “Without Me” video, as present-day Eminem sets out to find 2002 Eminem, with the two encountering everyone from Dr. Dre to Snoop Dogg, Shane Gillis, Paul Rosenberg, and more along the way.
Ultimately, the Eminems have a roof-top showdown and merge together, becoming a “monster.” Then, he jestingly goes on the offense against everyone from Dr. Dre to Rosenberg, his own kids, and more. After all of that, Pete Davidson takes over as the driver of his car (with the assurance that he “just got...

The Death of Slim Shady is forthcoming as Eminem releases his new song “Houdini,” a single aimed at making his “career disappear.”
“Little baby devil with the forked tongue and it’s stickin’ out,” raps Eminem in the opening verse, before he adds, “Still a white jerk pullin’ up in a Chrysler to the cypher with the Vics, Percs, and a Bud Light shirt.”
Elsewhere on the track, the rapper shouts-out the “Hot Girl Summer” star: “If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with...

Netflix made some noise in the unscripted world when it hired Jeff Gaspin, the former NBCUniversal chief, as its new defacto reality boss earlier this year.
The hire ostensibly signaled that the streamer wanted to step up its unscripted efforts and take on the broadcast networks when it comes to buying big entertainment formats.
During his time as NBC’s head of alternative entertainment, he developed series including The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser and Deal or No Deal and after his promotion, his last act as Chairman of NBC Universal Television was buying The Voice, which other than The Masked Singer, was arguably the last major entertainment format to breakthrough on the broadcast nets.
Netflix is now doubling down on efforts to find its version of The Voice.
“The difference from the past is we want to focus on bigger formats, more of what you would call broadcast-style shows versus the cable style shows.

Bask in the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where the worlds of Formula 1 and glamorous Hollywood collided, bringing fans an unforgettable spectacle both on and off the track. Isn’t it fascinating how the allure of roaring engines and the desire for speed can entice even the ‘Voice of a Generation’, Christina Aguilera, into its orbit?
During the formation lap, viewers caught a glimpse of the 43-year-old singer, clad in charisma, casually recording the event on her phone—a sight that caused viewers to gasp with delight. However, even seasoned commentator David Coulthard could not resist a playful jab, referring to Aguilera as a fake fan of Formula 1.

“The ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony’ is truly music’s highest honor because we’re honoring artists that are generational,” says Joel Peresman, CEO of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. He also served as an executive producers for the live broadcast that aired on November 3, 2023 on Disney+. Watch our video interview above.
“They’re not one hit wonders,” he continues. “They’re not people that come and go. They’re artists that have had lasting impact on other artists, on society, on culture, their impact is immeasurable.” The 2023 honorees included Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners.
Elliott made history as the first female hip-hop artist inducted, and Peresman addresses critics who complain that certain artists inducted don’t fit the “rock & roll” mold. “Well, rock and roll is a broad tent,” he asserts.

Netflix has tied up a deal in the $34M range for the John Lee Hancock-directed package Monsanto, we can reveal. The pic will star Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Oscar winner Laura Dern.

This and Apple’s WW deal for Everest sherpa pic Tenzing are the two biggest deals to emerge from the Cannes market so far. The latter is understood to be in the $40M range.

“Like a loaded gun, my love/I lost control of the wheel/Double-crossed by a neon pill,” Cage the Elephant’s Matt Shultz sings on the title track from the Kentucky band’s sixth album. The sound is familiar, a smart, subdued garage-rock swagger that’s a prime example of their ability to punch up a throwback style. But the lyrics are far from burnout boilerplate. Several years ago, Shultz experienced a psychotic response to prescribed medication, and in 2023 he was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He described...

Over the past week or so, Apple Music has slowly unveiled the titles included in its list of the “100 best albums.” Today, the top 10 albums were revealed, with Miss Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill claiming the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the top five are Michael Jackson’s Thriller; The Beatles’ Abbey Road; Prince’s Purple Rain; and Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
The top 10 also includes Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life; Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version); Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black; Nirvana’s Nevermind; and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
In all honestly, it’s a pretty safe top 10, especially considering the drama that unfolded when Apple unveiled picks 11-20 and slotted Adele’s 21 at No. 15 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at No. 18 — ahead of albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds,...

Music is one of the main keys to the success of a movie, as it helps to set the tone and enhances the viewers’ experience. It can even happen that films become overshadowed by the songs written and recorded specifically for them, and people tend to forget that they were originally soundtracks that lost any association with their origins.
Here are 5 dramas surpassed in popularity by their music themes, according to Reddit.
Dangerous Minds (1995)
Michelle Pfeiffer’s underrated gem presumably comes first in this respect, as everybody knows Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio, while the movie is unfairly forgotten. In fact, the story of a teacher taking up a job in East Palo Alto, a racially segregated and economically deprived city, is worth a try, apart from its cultish main song.
Chariots of Fire (1981)

Hi, my name is – or rather *was* – Slim Shady. Eminem has killed off his Slim Shady persona, penning an obituary that mourns the loss of his tortured alter ego.
In an obituary published in the Detroit Free Press, Eminem wrote of the late Slim Shady, “A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single ‘My Name Is,’ which — along with its uniquely eye catching video — exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience. Eminem was known for oddball, controversial stunts during his early career, but he’s taken things to another level with an obituary for his character Slim Shady. Eminem’s obituary for Slim Shady is a refresher for some
One of Eminem’s most provocative stunts in some time is naming his upcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). Killing off a famous character is sure to turn heads, whether it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killing off Sherlock Holmes or the famous DC Comics arc “The Death of Superman.”

It appears Eminem has taken the title of his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), quite literally by running a fake obituary for his alter ego in the Detroit Free Press.
Earlier this week, photos of the “obituary,” titled “Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions,” surfaced on social media. Accompanied by a picture of Eminem in a hockey mask, the piece features the subheading “Fans Will ‘Never Forget’ Controversial Rapper” and begins by paying tribute to the Detroit rapper’s early career in the “underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s.”

Rocket Science and CAA Media Finance are launching foreign sales out of Cannes for the John Lee Hancock directed Monsanto starring Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie and Oscar winner Laura Dern.
Monsanto tells the true story of young, untried attorney Brent Wisner (Powell) who takes on a seemingly insurmountable case against the giant U.S. chemical company Monsanto on behalf of Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (Mackie) who used Monsanto’s best-known product Roundup, a wildly financially successful weed and grass pesticide killer, as part of his job as a high school groundskeeper. During the trial, Dr Melinda Rogers (Dern), the chief toxicologist of the Monsanto Company, testifies with certainty that Roundup is safe.
Pic’s screenplay was developed in association with Karl Spoerri’s Zurich Avenue and penned by Michael Wisner, Alexandra Duparc, Ned Benson and Hancock. Producers are Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff, Philip Schulz-Deyle and Jon Levin alongside HyperObject Industries’ Adam McKay and Kevin Messick.
