Though not a direct sequel, it’s set in the same version of New York as the original series and has featured guest appearances from Himym stars Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris, among other alumni of that show. Characters played by Christopher Lowell and Suraj Sharma also live in the apartment occupied by Ted (Josh Radnor) and Marshall (Jason Segel) in the former series.

Suit up, it's time to discuss everyone's favorite self-proclaimed lady's man. The antics of Barney Stinson may not have aged particularly well here in 2022, but the "How I Met Your Mother" character somehow remains just as beloved today as he was when the show was on the air. There is one reason for that and his name is Neil Patrick Harris. This is not to say series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and their team didn't do an amazing job writing these characters, because they definitely did. However, the show's resident lothario wouldn't have been nearly as lovable if Harris hadn't imbued him with so much heart. Barney does one despicable thing after another, and yet the audience continues to root for him. Harris' performance brought so much depth to a character that could've very easily been little more than a caricature.

When the final season of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother concluded in 2014, co-creator Carter Bays wasn’t sure what was in store next. But his answer came when dusting off a book and finding inspiration in the varied worlds of literary fiction.
“After working on How I Met Your Mother for 10 years and sort of being in output mode for that whole time, I wanted to put myself in input mode. I had a whole shelf full of books that I’ve been meaning to read for years and never got around to, a lot of classics,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter.
He recalls first reading Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina when he was first developing How I Met Your Mother, but then once “things got crazy” with the show, he never finished, only to leave his Tbr pile. “Nine years later,...

Hulu’s “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff series “How I Met Your Father” debuted with its first two episodes Tuesday, paying tribute to the late Bob Saget, who narrated the original CBS sitcom that birthed the new Hilary Duff comedy.
At the end of the sitcom’s first installment, a title card reads “In Loving Memory of Bob Saget,” in honor of the comedian who voiced the older version of Josh Radnor’s Ted Mosby on all nine seasons of “How I Met Your Mother,” from 2005 to 2014.

On Tuesday, the executive producers and stars of How I Met Your Father gathered for a virtual TCA panel teasing the Hulu series’ January 18 debut—noting that the series stemming from beloved CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother is not a reboot, as it has sometimes been described.

A wise man — nay, a legendary man — once told Ted Evelyn Mosby that you shouldn’t even think about getting married until you’re 30. Well, it just so happens that Hilary Duff‘s Sophie is turning the big 3-0 in TVLine’s exclusive first look at an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Father.
Premiering Tuesday, Jan. 18, the How I Met Your Mother offshoot takes place in the near future, as Sophie tells her son the story of — you guessed it! — how she met his father. Whereas Bob Saget in his former role as Himym narrator was never seen on screen,...

How I Met Your Father, the much-anticipated sequel to How I Met Your Mother, is set to air on Hulu early next year. The plot pretty much follows the same format as its predecessor: the protagonist regales her uninterested children with stories about how she met their father, drawn out over a series of events that, if TV execs permit, will span multiple seasons. The original creators of the show, Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, are no longer expected to write the sequel, although they have been tapped to executive-produce the series. Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are running the show.

Alan Kalter, the “voice” of CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” for most of its run, has died, Variety has confirmed. He was 78.
According to Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of Temple Beth El in Stamford, Conn., Kalter died at Stamford Hospital, with wife Peggy and his daughters Lauren Hass and Diana Binger at his side.
Kalter took over as Letterman’s announcer on Sept. 5, 1995, replacing Bill Wendell, who had retired. Kalter remained with “Late Show” until Letterman ended his tenure in May 2015.
Although the gig centered on announcing the guests at the top of each show and other various introduction elements, Kalter soon became a pivotal part of “Late Show,” often in scripted segments in which he satirically flew off the handle and stormed off stage; played himself as deviant and creepy; and often being the butt of jokes.

We've had a How I Met Your Mother-shaped hole in our lives since the CBS comedy's finale in 2014. Now, it seems that hole is finally going to be filled thanks to Hulu's upcoming spinoff starring Hilary Duff, called How I Met Your Father. After the series finale of Younger and the cancellation of the Lizzie McGuire reboot, the How I Met Your Mother spinoff feels like the perfect way for Duff to continue showing off her comedic prowess.
The series, which features a similar narration format to the original show, finds Duff's character Sophie telling her son the story of how she met his father. It also follows Sophie and her group of friends as they navigate life and love in New York City. How I Met Your Mother was an excellent comedy series, but it was not without its flaws.
Co-Creator Carter Bays is opening up about how he wishes he could "remove" certain parts of the series.
Bays took to Twitter on Friday to reveal that he is currently re-watching the series from start to finish, seven years after its conclusion.
"I'm still doing a Himym rewatch and trying to keep my commentary to a minimum but I just have to say I'm at the end of S3 and my gosh, how am I only 1/3 of the way through this thing?? There's so much of it!" he wrote.
"The hardest laughs so far were every scene of [Will Forte playing Barney’s co-worker Randy Wharmpess]. I found myself wanting Rebound Bro to become a spinoff," he continued.
"Also I won't go into specifics but I'll just say I would love to go...

Bays, who’s rewatching the comedy, documented his binging experience on Twitter, where he shared that he’d like to make a few modifications of his own.
“I won’t go into specifics but I’ll just say I would love to go into an edit room and go George Lucas on this thing and remove certain stuff I really wish wasn’t in there and I bet nobody would miss,” Bays tweeted on Friday.
Bays wrapped up season three and said that he’d keep his commentary on the comedy to a minimum but questioned, “how am I only 1/3 fo the way through this thing??”
