I don’t need to inform anyone that mainstream Hollywood entertainment is still in the grips of a franchise and IP based fervor. Mega franchises, sequels, reboots, requels, remakes – all of these have been the lion’s share of high profile releases for well over a decade now. Everything from the most recognizable franchises in film history to more niche pop cultural artifacts have been resurrected, dusted off, and had a new coat of paint air-brushed on.
Every day across social media the online film community seems to litigate “the state” of Hollywood.
Superhero fatigue. Franchise fatigue. You know the discourse. Personally, I take as much of a nonchalant attitude with all this stuff as I can. I have my peccadillos. I have my areas of agreement regarding “the state” of Hollywood. But at the end of the day I’m just…a dude. A dude who just wants to...

God of War Ragnarok is many things, but one of the game’s best features is its nearly unrivaled cinematic presentation style. Of course, the sequel’s ambitious narrative and storytelling would be nothing without the perfect cast of voice actors to play every character.
Thankfully, Ragnarok features such a cast. While many of the game’s principal characters (and voice actors) are returning from 2018’s God of War, those familiar faces and voices are joined by some fully-realized new characters that help make this game the most epic God of War adventure yet.
Before we dive a bit deeper into all that, you should know that the full God of War: Ragnarok cast is massive. Not only would it be incredibly difficult to list every single voiced character in the game in anything close to a legible format, but we would be spoiling a significant portion of the game...

There's no denying that Curse of Chucky (review) kicked a copious amount of ass, and now that the franchise is hotter than ever, word has come from franchise champion and Curse director Don Mancini that the evil little guy will indeed be back for round seven!
Our hope is that both Jennifer Tilly and Alex Vincent return with Fiona Dourif, who was incredible in the last feature.
Written and directed by Mancini, Curse of Chucky found a family imperiled by the murderous doll that launched a generation’s nightmares – determined to finish a job that was started long ago. The film stars Fiona Dourif (The Master, “True Blood”), A Martinez (“Longmire,” “General Hospital”), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart, “CSI: Miami”) and Brennan Elliott (“Flight 93,” Double Jeopardy), with Brad Dourif (The Lord of the Rings) once again providing the voice of Chucky, the homicidal plaything inhabited by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray.

The Chucky franchise has been pretty quiet after the full blown comedy Seed Of Chucky and I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing because how many entries can you make with a premise about a killer doll before it falls stagnant?
Yet here we are with Curse Of Chucky, the new film in the franchise that sees the series go back to its horror roots and mostly leaving behind the comedy angle, which admittedly didn't work quite well for me anyway.
Returning to the story are writer / Director Don Mancini and Brad Douriff and really, it wouldn't be a a Chucky film without these involved, as they are part of the reason these films have that magic about them, and if they weren't behind this film, I probably wouldn't been as keen to watch this as I was.

3 weeks ago I had the pleasure of interviewing the creator of Chucky, Don Mancini, along with the entire cast of his new film Curse Of Chucky. Having now seen the movie, I agree with the general consensus that it is one of the best “scary” Chucky films. I will always have a soft spot for Child’S Play 2 and to be honest, my overall favorite is still Bride Of Chucky. As a longtime fan of the franchise, it really was an honor getting to sit down and chat with all those involved. Since the interviews were split by gender, I decided that would be the best way to post them. Below is my interview with Danielle Bisutti and the true Seed of Chucky, Fiona Dourif. Check back tomorrow morning for my interview with the Men of Chucky (Don Mancini, Brad Dourif & Alex Vincent).

Don Mancini, creator of the iconic killer doll Chucky, has cemented himself in horror history with his storied franchise. While he only wrote Child’s Play, as time when on and the sequels piled up, Mancini gained more and more power, guiding Chucky’s path to glory. As we’ve seen Mancini’s creation wander into comedic territory over the last two films, fans expressed a want to see Chucky get back to straight scares, and Mancini listened. His latest sequel, Curse Of Chucky, gets back to the horror basics, utilizing a dark, gothic genre vibe that focuses on making Chucky nothing but a nightmare haunting villain.

In Chucky’s storied 25 year history, Andy Barclay has typically been the target. Then the focused shifted to Katherine Heigl, and last but not least, Jennifer Tilly. We all know how those stories ended though, and in Curse Of Chucky, Don Mancini has decided to introduce not only one strong female character, but two, in Fiona Dourif’s wheelchair bound Nica, and her pushy sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti). While I won’t expose their respective fates, let’s just say these two give Chucky a run for his money, one a little more so than the other.

On the outside, Chucky may appear to be a harmless, pint-sized “friend to the end” Good Guy doll, but the popular toy houses the evil spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. Debuting in the 1988 film Child’s Play, Chucky has sliced, stabbed, and slaughtered his way through five movies in an effort to possess a human form. 2004's Seed of Chucky marked his last sadistic endeavor, and ever since he’s been missing in action... until now. Produced, written and directed by Chucky's creator, Child's Play creator Don Mancini, Curse of Chucky finds the horror icon adding to his body count in the latest entry of the franchise. “Chucky’s been dormant,” explains Mancini. “We’ve wanted to do a new Chucky movie for a while. I feel kind of bad that we've failed to post any news on this, so I thought I'd make up for it now. Fans of Chucky will already know about his return to horror, but just in case you've been living in a cave for the past six months, guess what? Child's Play returns to DVD and Blu-ray from Monday. Writer/creator Don Mancini is back in the director's chair for the second time, after his directorial debut on 2004's horror/comedy crossover, Seed of Chucky. The original Child's Play is a massive favourite of ours, as is 1998's third sequel, Bride of Chucky, but Curse of Chucky finds us back in traditional horror territory with Don taking his first stab at the slasher sub-genre. Brad Dourif reprises his role as Charles Lee Ray, and of course the voice of Chucky, in a film that promises to shed a little...

It’s been twenty-five years since Charles Lee Ray first possessed a Good Guy doll in a Chicago toy store whilst on the run from the cops and in that time we’ve had a further four Child’s Play movies – the last almost ten years ago (has it really been that long?) – each of which has successively watered down the creepy tale of Chucky, taking the series from its tongue-in-cheek slasher beginnings to a mocking parody of its very own franchise. Thankfully Curse of Chucky, from series creator Don Mancini, returns to the “fun and fear” formula which made the original film such a success.

Universal recently sent me the upcoming Chucky: The Complete Collection Blu-ray Set, which includes Child's Play, Child's Play 2, Child's Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky and the brand new Curse of Chucky. Last night around 8:45 or so I knew the second episode of "The Blacklist" was going to be on at 10 Pm, but I wasn't exactly slobbering with anticipation after last week's disappointing pilot. Not wanting to watch anything all that intellectually stimulating I decided to grab the box set and give this new Chucky film a watch. I think I made the right choice. Let's get one thing out of the way at the start, Curse of Chucky isn't a very good film. I don't think this will surprise anyone, even those that will say they enjoyed it. It's possible to enjoy a bad film and in the case of Curse, the enjoyment will largely...

Well, here's a nice switch. After a pair of sequels in which raunchy comedy and silly splatter were much more important than anything resembling a legitimate scare or creepy idea, everyone's favorite killer doll is back with Curse of Chucky, a sixth chapter that clearly wants to be taken a bit more seriously. Or at least as seriously as one can take a movie in which a doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer stomps around a creepy old mansion and hacks people to bits.
Needless to say the Chucky films have always been tongue-in-cheek horror films. The first three entries -- Child's Play (1988), Child's Play 2 (1990), Child's Play 3 (1991) -- were sometimes suspenseful, occasionally scary, and frequently sprinkled with generous portions of gory bits. By the time we got to Bride of Chucky (1998) and Seed of Chucky (2004), the character had degenerated into a completely self-aware and self-mocking parody.

The 2013 Eyegore Awards
Every year, Universal Studios, the home of horror, turns its revered studio and theme park into a playground for the devil, a maelstrom of haunted mazes and re-purposed rides fitting the all-important Halloween motif. We are greeted with different mazes each year, all chosen to reflect the most popular Universal confections at the time.
Halloween Horror Nights first launched as “Fright Nights” in Universal Studios Florida back in 1991, but in 1997, Halloween Horror Nights spread across the country to Hollywood, which seems only fitting, since this is the home of practically all of the classic horror movies we’ve grown up on. This past Friday, once again, FM attended the kickoff event. Along with the unveiling of this year’s horror mazes, we were treated to a litany of fangtastic guests and horror luminaries, with what could be the shortest and sweetest awards ceremony in Hollywood, the Eyegore Awards.

New Insidious 2 movie delivered a great storyline, thrills, suspense & more. FilmDistrict released their new horror/thriller flick, "Insidious: Chapter 2" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was absolutely excellent. Everything was explained perfectly, and it served up just as much thrills and suspense as the first installment, if not more. It stars: Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Barbara Hershey, Danielle Bisutti, Michael James Grise, and Lindsay Seim. In the new flick, the investigation to find out who killed Elise, was addressed. In the meantime, Josh mysteriously seemed to be ok after the events of the first movie. He swore, he didn't kill Elise, and it was something evil that followed him back. However, as the movie rolled along, more violent and mysterious things kept happening. Josh was discovered to be acting really weird too, talking to ghosts and telling them to leave.

It's not uncommon for a horror movie franchise to swap out characters and creative teams when it comes time to make a sequel. The "Insidious" franchise doesn't really follow those rules, though. The creative team and cast from the first are back for "Insidious: Chapter 2," but there's also some new faces along for the ride. Danielle Bisutti is one of those faces, she plays the Mother of Parker Crane, someone you really don't want to cross.
"She's horribly terrifying," Bisutti tells Zap2it at the movie's premiere. "She's the mommy you never wanted to have, beyond a 'Mommie Dearest'." However, she thinks audiences will be able to get an idea of the pain her character goes through, adding, "She's not very shy about what she's not happy about and she definitely lets her son know where he displeases her."
As always, sequels are help up to the...
