In 1944, Blair sought to have her seven-year contract with Columbia voided, on the grounds that her agent, the late Alex Holden, had an agreement with the studio, unknown to her, to receive payment for inducing her to sign a contract. Judge Joseph W. Vickers, Superior Court for Los Angeles, ruled on 15 July, that the contract was to her advantage and denied her suit to have it cancelled.
