Is Grillo’s character trying to muscle in on The General’s territory? Who will tell him how much of a bad idea that would be?

Exclusive: Craig Zisk has been tapped to direct and executive produce Season 2 of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ original series Tulsa King, starring Sylvester Stallone, which has started production. Now designated as a comedy series, Tulsa King will film in Oklahoma and Atlanta.
As Deadline reported in February, Terence Winter, who stepped down as showrunner of the mob drama/comedy after its first season, has come back as a writer on Season 2 in addition to his continuing duties as an executive producer. The series opted not to get a replacement for Winter in line with the practice at the other Sheridan series produced by 101 Studios that don’t have a traditional showrunner. Instead, Tulsa King, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, was to bring in a director/executive producer, which it now has with Zisk’s hire.

Just when he thought he was out, they pulled him back in.
Emmy-winning writer Terence Winter is returning to Tulsa King.
The Sopranos veteran is back on board the Paramount+ drama after being the showrunner of its 2022 debut season. The series follows a former mobster, played by Sylvester Stallone, who forms a new crime empire in Oklahoma.
Winter and Tulsa King‘s creator and executive producer Taylor Sheridan famously conflicted about the creative direction of the series. After Winter stepped away, the big question became who was going to take over his gig, given Sheridan’s self-professed preference for remaining hands-on with his shows. Stallone, likewise, has firm opinions about the writing in his projects — having written and co-written the screenplays for many of his hit films over the years — and claims some of the show’s dialogue was his own creation.

CBS has had a lot of luck with its Yellowstone rollout, even though the series has been on for years and is available in full on Peacock.
It’s no wonder they’re looking to Taylor Sheridan and Sylvester to bolster their summer programming with a broadcast rollout of Tulsa King.
Tulsa King gives Yellowstone a run for the money when it comes to content the profanity. As we know, Federal law prohibits obscene, indecent, and profane content from being broadcast on the radio or TV.
Will that stop people from tuning into the broadcast version of Tulsa King on CBS?
Doubtful. And why would it? What you don’t know, you don’t know.
And there are plenty of people who prefer their dramas to be more watered down, and airing them on CBS gives many different kinds of viewers to see programming they wouldn’t otherwise.

The first season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Tulsa King” is set to make its broadcast debut this summer, airing on CBS ahead of the Paramount+ release of Season 2.
This isn’t the first time Paramount Global is bringing a Sheridan streaming series over to its broadcaster: The network has seen major success by bringing “Yellowstone” from the Paramount Network to CBS. The first episode reached 6.6 million viewers, and as Variety exclusively reported, 50% of those viewers had never seen the show before. The CBS debut also drove some wins back to streaming — though on NBCUniversal-owned Peacock, which owns the “Yellowstone” rights — where Variety reported that viewership increased by 26% over a 10-day period. But with “Tulsa King,” all viewership bumps will remain in-house for Paramount.
Per the company, “Tulsa King” is the second-most-watched series on Paramount+, following only Sheridan’s “1923.”

"How did we survive?" "A little bit of luck... A 'lotta bit of grace." S&r Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Allswell in New York, which initially premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. It won Best Screenplay at the fest back then, and it also just played at the New Hampshire Film Festival this fall. Allswell in New York follows the story of three Puerto Rican sisters in New York who are navigating life's challenges of single motherhood, career, and family, while finding the humor, solace, and bonds of sisterhood make it all bearable. This Latinx dramedy stars Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Daphne Rubin-Vega (In The Heights), and the talented Bobby Cannavale, along with Max Casella, Michael Rispoli, Felix Solis, and Mackenzie Lansing. This looks wholesome and authentic, telling stories about life in NYC that we don't often hear.

Anything Sylvester Stallone touches turns to gold. The same can be said for creator Taylor Sheridan, so it's no surprise that Paramount+ quickly renewed Tulsa King for Season 2.
"Tulsa King scored as the #1 new series of the year, topping all others including the Game of Thrones sequel House of the Dragon, with its preview on Paramount Network, and on Paramount+, it shattered records, driving us to our biggest new sign-up day in history – which is why we instantly greenlit season two," said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO, Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios in November 2022.

Tulsa King stars Jay Will, Garrett Hedlund and Max Casella were at Deadline’s Contenders TV event on Sunday to discuss their Paramount+ show and its lead Sylvester Stallone.

It will likely surprise precisely no one that Sylvester Stallone doesn’t boast a particularly impressive personal awards history given that he once starred in an Academy Award Best Picture winner and his films have collectively earned more than $4.5 billion in box office worldwide. While he has three Oscar nominations to his credit – two for writing and starring in “Rocky” in 1977 and a supporting nod for “Creed” in 2016 – along with Golden Globe and Critics Choice triumphs for “Creed” in ’16, the overwhelming majority of his awards attention has come by way of the Razzies.
Maybe it’s time for Stallone to receive a little more respect.
Paramount+ plans a healthy Emmy campaign for season one of its nine-episode streaming mob-themed dramedy “Tulsa King,” which stars the 76-year-old Stallone in his first foray onto the small screen. In the show that premiered last November, he portrays Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a Mafia...

As the Sylvester Stallone drama Tulsa King gets renewed for a second season at Paramount+, Deadline has learned that the series showrunner for the first season, Terence Winter, will not be continuing in his position going forward. He will remain on board as executive producer, but Winter will now focus on other projects, which will include a streaming series with Martin Scorsese, whom he often collaborates with. As well as a limited series about the 1986 New York Mets, which is revealed to have been a passion project for the writer/producer.
Tulsa King is one of many shows that come from Taylor Sheridan, who has created such hits for Paramount+ like Yellowstone, 1923, and Mayor of Kingstown. It is reported that Winter had decided to depart just ahead of season 2 due to creative differences. Deadline says it was apparent in an earlier interview that Sheridan and Winter had conflicting visions...

“Tulsa King” co-creator Terence Winter has stepped down as showrunner of the hit Paramount+ crime drama, TheWrap has confirmed. But he’ll remain credited as an executive producer on the show, starring Sylvester Stallone, and the search for a new showrunner is in progress.
Winter’s departure was due to a combination of unspecified creative differences and desire to focus on other projects, including an in-development streaming series with Martin Scorsese.
Co-created by Winter and “Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan, “Tulsa King” follows mafia underboss Dwight Mancini (Stallone), who did 25 years in prison and loyally kept his mouth shut about his mob family. Fresh out of prison, he’s sent to Oklahoma to establish new businesses for the family, but ends up forming his own crew instead.

Sylvester Stallone’s rise is a story so celebrated, it’s come to shape how we imagine the Hollywood dream. A young, no-name actor writes a script, sells it to a studio, fights to play the title role, and — for his effort, his faith, and his talent — the movie turns him into a star. More than a star, really. “Rocky” and the ensuing sequels helped establish Stallone as a multi-hyphenate artist. For nearly 50 years, Stallone has been writing, acting, producing, and directing many of his own projects.
But after his latest dual role — leading and executive producing the Paramount+ series “Tulsa King” — Stallone may be staying behind the camera on his future creative endeavors. When asked if he’s writing any passion projects to direct and star in, Stallone said, “I might, but maybe not the acting.” He mentioned “Poe,” the Edgar Allen Poe biopic he’s long sought to realize,...

As one of the stars of HBO’s “The White Lotus: Sicily,” Michael Imperioli has a strong shot at sharing in a Screen Actors Guild Award win for Best TV Drama Ensemble. He stands apart from his cast mates in that he has triumphed in this category before, for “The Sopranos” in 2000 and 2008. His potential third victory would put him in the company of just two other actors who have won this award for two different series. As it happens, they both also initially prevailed as members of the “Sopranos” cast.
The SAG Awards club Imperioli is looking to join was initiated by Greg Antonacci, who won Best TV Drama Ensemble for “The Sopranos” in 2008 and “Boardwalk Empire” in 2011. Dominic Chianese then met the criteria by being awarded for the same two shows in 2000 and 2012, respectively. “Boardwalk Empire” star Steve Buscemi, who shared in the series’ two ensemble wins, was...

Tulsa King is not slowing down at Paramount+.
The streaming service officially ordered a second season of the Sylvester Stallone drama series on Wednesday.
The series launched earlier this month on both Paramount+ and Paramount Network.
Paramount+ has revealed the series helped drive Paramount+ to "highest single day starts ever."
"Tulsa King scored as the #1 new series of the year, topping all others including the Game of Thrones sequel House of the Dragon, with its preview on Paramount Network, and on Paramount+, it shattered records, driving us to our biggest new sign-up day in history – which is why we instantly greenlit season two,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO, Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios.
“Tulsa King together with Mayor of Kingstown, 1883 and the upcoming 1923, undeniably confirm the success of our strategy to franchise Yellowstone and use it to supercharge streaming growth - none of which would be possible without the creative mastermind of Taylor Sheridan.

“Tulsa King scored as the #1 new series of the year, topping all others including the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon,’ with its preview on Paramount Network, and on Paramount+, it shattered records, driving us to our biggest...

Tulsa King‘s second episode continues Mafia capo Dwight Manfredi’s quest to establish a criminal organization in the titular city. While back in New York, Dwight’s old Mafia pals have a major bone to pick with him….
After a quick establishing shot of the Mayo Hotel, the episode “Center of the Universe” gets right to it: Dwight is using the Internet to try to check up on his estranged daughter, Christina. He finds her records, but a pesky paywall keeps him from the information. (He can access it easily, but the paywall requires using a credit card, which...

Tulsa King just arrived last Sunday on Paramount+, and there's already a chance that viewers may not see a second season. Sylvester Stallone, who stars in the drama series from Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone), finds that filming a television show is more difficult than movies.
Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, A.C. Peterson, Annabella Sciorra, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany also star in the series, which follows a New York mafia capo (Stallone) who is sent to Tulsa, Ok after 25 years in prison.Read More…...

Last night, Taylor Sheridan’s long-awaited Sylvester Stallone mob series, Tulsa King, made its debut on Paramount +. Executive produced by Terence Winter of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, Tulsa King is a seriocomic gangster tale about a newly released cap, Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who’s exiled by the mob to Tulsa, where he’s expected to start a new mob. At seventy-five, Dwight is totally out of his element, and the show is a surprisingly big-hearted and funny showcase for its star, Sylvester Stallone.
We here at JoBlo are massive Stallone fans (interviewing him last year was a career highlight for me), so we were happy to participate in the Tulsa King press day. We got to ask Sly about how different an experience working as a lead on a TV show was to a movie. Their characters on only briefly seen in the first few episodes. Both...

Sylvester Stallone has his first major television role in Tulsa King. Dwight “The General” Manfredi is a vital 75-year-old New York City mobster and ex-con rudely tasked by his Invernizzi crime family with starting a new operation in Oklahoma. That’s the drama driving this new original drama (conceived by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan) and, this being a mob story, half the fun early on is watching Manfredi assembling his oddball crew. The other half: “We go back and forth between [Tulsa and] New York. These [Invernizzi] guys are a great source of conflict,” says executive producer Terence Winter, creator of Boardwalk Empire and a writer on The Sopranos. The mafioso actors are seasoned tough guys from Winter’s previous shows “who play really well against Sly.” Watch especially for three Boardwalk vets: Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, and Max Casella, the last of whom plays ambitious criminal Armand Truisi in Tulsa. Says Winter,...
