Who doesn't love a good team-up? From the Avengers and the Justice League to Dominic Torretto's family and the Expendables, action movies tend to feature some seriously badass collections of people that unite to take down the bad guys. We may even see them team up in some pretty major ways from time to time like in "The Suicide Squad" or "Spider-Man: No Way Home." But most recently, we've seen it happen in the latest season of "Cobra Kai."
Long after they were pitted against Daniel Larusso in the first two "Karate Kid" movies, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) have joined Daniel-san's fight against Terry Silver's new iteration of Cobra Kai in the fifth chapter of Netflix's sequel series to the beloved 1980s martial arts films. In the episode titled "Ouroboros," Johnny and Chozen march right up to the new and improved Cobra Kai dojo...

Title: The Perfect Host Director: Nick Tomnay Featuring: David Hyde Pierce, Clayne Crawford, Nathaniel Parker, Megahn Perry, Helen Reddy, George Cheung Screened at: Review 1, NYC, 6/9/11 Opens: July 1, 2011 It’s every law-abiding, criminal-hating American’s fantasy, isn’t it? Guy comes to burgle your house, overcomes you, threatens to kill you, puts serious crimps in your dignity. In a weak moment, the intruder is overcome by the owner of the residence, is tied up, and is made sport of. An eye for an eye. We saw this theme in action in David Slade’s movie “Hard Candy,” wherein Hayley Stark, played by Ellen Page, is a fourteen-year-old girl who meets a...

Director Stephen R. Monroe recently rose to prominence in the horror community with his satisfying and well-received remake of the classic video nasty I Spit On Your Grave, and whilst that film has brought Monroe plaudits and kudos, it wasn’t always that way…
Monroe carved out his early career with numerous straight to DVD monster movies, and more recently a number of Syfy original movies. One such monster movie, Mongolian Death Worm, is set to receive a rare UK airing in June on Movies24. Written and directed by Monroe and starring former Young Indiana Jones and Saw 3D star Sean Patrick Flanery, Drew Waters and George Cheung, the film sees:
an American oil company sets up an experimental drilling plant out in the vast deserts of Mongolia, they awaken a nest. The deadly creatures begin to breed and spread, devouring everyone in their path. The only person who can...

There’s a lot going on in Mongolian Death Worm, the underachieving Syfy original movie directed by Steven R. Monroe. Is it the story of a self-described "scoundrel" hunting for treasure? Or is it the tale of a dedicated doctor trying to save a village from pestilence? Or is it the account of oil exploration run amok that is also a metaphor for the way humanity is looting the resources of Mother Earth to deadly consequence? One could say it's all those things, and maybe that's why Mongolian Death Worm fails to entertain as well as it might. Or maybe it's just because the filmmakers never deliver any more than is absolutely necessary. Yeah, that's probably it.
Sean Patrick Flanery plays Daniel,...

From the cable network that brought you such small screen gems as Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, Alien Apocalypse, and Mega Piranha comes the latest Syfy Original CGI-fest Mongolian Death Worm.
Although not a masterpiece, it's not as bad as you think. Sean Patrick Flanery brings a certain level of sweaty charm and the resident hot chick, Victoria Pratt, turns in a decent performance and certainly looks good doing it, but I wouldn't go so far as to recommend this. If you're at home alone on a Saturday night and it happens to come on SyFy channel and nothing else better is on then, by all means, tune in. I wouldn't miss a rerun of the Simpsons for it though.
When an American oil drilling company starts experimental drilling in Mongolia they awaken a large colony of giant, burrowing, man-eating worms. These worms, as legend tells it,...

In honor of Friday's release of The Expendables, we're taking a week-long look at the action films of Sir Sylvester Stallone -- which is to say we're skipping his comedies. Out of respect.
Title: Rambo: First Blood Part II
Setting: Viet-freaking-Nam.
Our hero: John Rambo (Stallone), who is offered a reprieve from breaking prison rocks (even though he looks pretty damn good doing it) in exchange for infiltrating a Vietnamese camp rumored to have a number of imprisoned American soldiers.
Our villain/s: Vinh (George Cheung), a Vietnamese captain hell-bent on keeping his stash of POWs. Col. Podovsky (Steven Berkoff), a Russian officer who's happy to torture Rambo and the vets in order to convince the United States not to send in any more one-man armies to rescue their soldiers. Also - and maybe especially - there's Marshall Murdock (Charles Napier), a D.C. bureaucrat who recruits Rambo for...

We now have a new favorite title for a Syfy original movie: Mongolian Death Worms! But bear in mind that they didn’t make up that moniker; it seems the Mongolian Death Worm is a cryptozoological species that has been reported and investigated for decades now, which makes it a surprise that Syfy didn’t catch up with it sooner.
The Worm supposedly ranges from 2 to 5 feet long and lives under the sands of the Gobi desert, from which it emerges to kill its prey via either spitting caustic acid or launching electrical shocks. As for its movie incarnation, Mongolian Death Worms recently lensed in Dallas, TX for Ogre and Wyvern director Steven R. Monroe, who scripted with Sea Beast’s Neil Elman. Veteran actor-turned-filmmaker Andrew Stevens produced, with Masters Of Horror: The Damned Thing’s Sean Patrick Flanery, House Of The Dead 2’s Victoria Pratt, George Cheung...
