- Tom Hallick is one of those magic personalities whose appeal and magnetism have made him into one of television's most popular stars. For 8 years, Tom starred as Brad Eliot for 1,248 episodes on CBS television's The Young and the Restless, a role for which he was voted Best Actor for 3 years in a row by two major entertainment magazines, TV By Day and Daytime TV. Tom was in the very first shot in the very first scene of the very first episode in 1973.
He was the first host of NBC's Entertainment Tonight and starred in 128 episodes of Loving Friends and Perfect Couples which was shot in Toronto for Lorimar with Knots Landing producer, David Jacobs. Tom also starred in many TV movies including C.H.I.P.S. 99, Danielle Steel's 'Secrets,' Fast Friends, The Time Travelers, The Return of Captain Nemo, and as Solomon in The Story of Solomon. He also played the role of Maxwell Hathaway on NBC television's Days of Our Lives and has appeared on the talk show circuit many times, guesting 8 times on the Dinah Shore show and 5 times on Merv Griffin.
His feature films include starring roles in Dark Eyes, Hanger 18, Beyond Death's Door, and The Rare Breed with George Kennedy. Tom's most recent feature films include Disney's My Favorite Martian and starring roles in Paramount's Adam, Disney's Waking Up Horton, and Gangster Squad.
Tom has starred in major television series including 4 episodes of The Love Boat, 4 episodes of Matlock, 5 episodes of Murder, She Wrote, Cold Case and Nip Tuck for Warner Bros, McBride and Mystery Woman for Hallmark, Dynasty and continues to be in demand for guest roles.
When Tom is not working he enjoys playing golf and tennis in celebrity tournaments around the world including 20 years in the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Classic, the Bob Hope Desert Classic and the Australian Open. He says that because he is an actor and plays golf, he has met people from princesses to presidents and that this has enriched his life.
He has traveled extensively around the world and has been on 4 photographic safaris including a visit to the Virunga Mountains of Rwanda to spend time photographing the Mountain Gorillas. - He left "Young and the Restless" in 1978 after winning three Best Actor awards. NBC tempted him away with a lot of money and a development deal for nighttime show. It turned into a nightmare, with a revolving door of executives who didn't get him a nighttime show, and as consolation, they put him on the daytime serial "Days of our Lives", which he hated doing and left.
- A native of Buffalo, New York, he graduated from Florida Southern College and attended law school before opting for show business. He began his professional career in Buffalo as a television newscaster and weatherman. After a stint in Orlando, Florida, with his own variety-interview show Tom came to Hollywood and became a soap star on "The Young and the Restless".
- He was in the very first scene in the very first episode of "The Young and the Restless" (1973) where a truck driver drops him off. He left the show after five years. However, in 2014, he did a homage to that scene for the show's 40th anniversary, but this time he played the truck driver.
