Michael Keaton recalls the initial reaction that comic book fans had when he was chosen to portray Batman in the 1989 Tim Burton-directed film.
Until then, Batman had been a character on a campy television series. However, Batman would mark a before and after for the superhero movie genre.
“When they said ‘We’re thinking of doing Batman,’ I said, ‘Wait, you’re thinking of making a movie about Batman?’,” Keaton said in an interview with GQ.
He continued, “The fact that Tim said ‘That guy, I want that guy’… the fact that people cared one way or another so much is still baffling. But that was a ballsy move on his part. We also had a nice working relationship from Beetlejuice, so he felt that he and I could get along and would work well together.”

Stephen King made it very well known that he wasn’t a fan of Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of his book The Shining, so seventeen years later he took the chance to bring the story to the screen himself. He wrote the script for a three-part mini-series that was directed by Mick Garris and aired on ABC back in 1997 – and tomorrow, March 12th, Scream Factory is giving the mini-series version of The Shining a Blu-ray release! Copies are available for purchase at This Link.
The mini-series version of The Shining has the following synopsis: Jack Torrance and his family move into the sprawling, vacant Overlook Hotel to get away from it all. Away from the alcoholism that derails Jack’s writing career. Away from the violent outbursts that mar Jack’s past. But Jack’s young son Danny knows better. He possesses a psychic gift called the shining — a gift...

Rod Serling was famous for a lot of things. He was one of the most acclaimed television writers of the mid-20th century, the creator of the genre-defining anthology series "The Twilight Zone," he co-wrote the screenplay to the original "Planet of the Apes," and he even helped give Steven Spielberg his big break. But even though he's famous for a lot of things, he was a prolific writer and even some of his best and most fascinating projects have been largely forgotten by the public over time. Like, for example, an adaptation of one of the most popular Christmas stories ever told, transformed into one of the most politically charged Christmas movies ever filmed.
Serling was no stranger to Christmas stories. After all, he wrote the classic yuletide episode "Night of the Meek," a hopeful story about an alcoholic department store Santa who stumbles across a magical sack that...

The "DC Films in Concert" series, showcasing director Tim Burton's 1989 feature "Batman" (reportedly hated by Warner Bros. Discovery 's DC Comics film and TV unit co-head James Gunn because the film didn't have enough 'dick' jokes), will be presented as a live concert tour, in celebration of the movie’s 35th anniversary, launching January 13, 2024 in Los Angeles:
"...with a musical score composed by Danny Elfman...

After being constrained by the responsibilities of delivering a big budget blockbuster with 1989's "Batman," Tim Burton let his freak flag fly for its follow-up, "Batman Returns." The director had proven he could give Warner Bros. what it wanted with his first movie based on the Dark Knight, and returned to helm the sequel on the proviso that he could basically do whatever he wanted. Which, in practice, meant a total rewrite of the script, a lot more of Burton's expressionist aesthetic, and a horror-tinged tone that was perhaps best encapsulated in Danny DeVito's grotesque version of The Penguin.
Burton and DeVito's take on the legendary Batman villain was a deformed figure who inexplicably spewed black bile from his mouth at various points throughout the film, ultimately hatching a plot to drown all the firstborn sons of Gotham. No wonder Mcdonald's was upset.
DeVito, however, had a ball playing Oswald Cobblepot,...

Last year, we lost Goodfellas star Ray Liotta, who passed away in his sleep at the age of 67. Now Deadline has shared a previously unreleased interview they conducted with Liotta a couple years before he died – and during the interview, Liotta mentioned that he felt stupid for turning down a role in director Tim Burton‘s 1989 version of Batman.
Batman first came up when Liotta was talking about writer/director Noah Baumbach’s Netflix-released film Marriage Story, which he had a role in. He said, “They started with the Batman stuff and triggered the whole comic book genre, and now most of the studios are putting an unbelievable amount of money into things like that. But movies like this one, Marriage Story… Thank God for Netflix, because they’ll finance your movie. I don’t know who else would give money for Marriage Story. It’s a great movie,...

Stephen King has written hundreds of short stories and more than sixty novels, but he has only directed one movie. The goofball 1986 film Maximum Overdrive (watch it Here), which came to Blu-ray as part of the Vestron Video Collector’s Series back in 2018. Now it has been announced that Vestron Video has put together a special steelbook release of Maximum Overdrive – and this steelbook will only be available at Walmart! The street date is May 30th, and pre-orders are already been accepted on Walmart.com.
Images of the steelbook case can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Based on King’s short story Trucks, Maximum Overdrive has the following synopsis: After a comet causes a radiation storm on Earth, machines come to life and turn against their makers. Holed up in a North Carolina truck stop, a group of survivors must fend for themselves against a mass of homicidal trucks.

Gunsmoke actor Milburn Stone was among the show’s remarkably charming ensemble cast. Few performers ever played a role longer than he starred as Doc Adams. Over the course of Gunsmoke‘s record-setting run, Stone didn’t appear in a total of seven episodes. However, it wasn’t a decision of his own. Here’s a look at what happened to cause his absence.

Stone was first cast as Doc Adams along with the other original Gunsmoke actors. This also included James Arness as U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon, Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty Russell, and Dennis Weaver as Chester Goode. Similar to his co-stars, Stone took his Gunsmoke character and ran with it, giving him the name “Galen.” Additionally, he gave the character a greater degree of softness compared to the radio iteration.

The Movie: "Batman" (1989)
Where You Can Stream It: HBO Max
The Pitch: Before 1989's "Batman," the world hadn't really been exposed to the darker version of the Dark Knight outside of comics. Instead, we got the Bright Knight with the 1966 "Batman" TV series. Adam West's caped crusader was really cheery and full of puns compared to the versions we've seen in recent years. The show was a blast; we all love it, but if you're a comic book fan, this might not have been your bag.

What do you think of when you think of a Dario Argento movie? "Goblin" music? A garish giallo color palettes? Bad English dubbing? All of the above are Argento trademarks, but there's one other key ingredient: gallons of blood. The director revels in subjecting his characters to grisly demises. Other directors might be content with deaths lasting a few seconds and shocking the audience for as long. Argento's characters, though, suffer drawn-out deaths that run for whole minutes. Usually, it's a death by a thousand cuts too.
Take "Suspiria": The first casualty comes when Pat Hingle (Eva Axén) is grabbed then stabbed by an unseen attacker; there's a close-up of the knife penetrating her exposed heart. Pat's corpse is flung through a stained glass ceiling with a noose around her neck and the falling glass splits her friend Sonia's (Susanna Javicoli) head in half.
The most outrageous Argento death is in his 1987 "Opera.

We’re back today with a brand new round-up of horror and sci-fi home media releases that are headed home today, and it includes quite the array of titles. One of my favorite movies of the year - Everything Everywhere All At Once from The Daniels - is being released to 4K as well as Blu-ray and DVD and if you’re looking to indulge in even more 4K entertainment, Edge of Tomorrow is also getting the 4K treatment, too.
Kino Lorber is keeping busy this week with an array of classic titles headed to Blu, including Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo, Ants! (aka It Happened at Lakewood Manor) and Terror Out of the Sky (aka Revenge of the Savage Bees), and IFC is also releasing Ruth Paxton’s...

Prescient in more ways than one, Stuart Rosenberg’s bleak melodrama stars Paul Newman as a disk jockey at Wusa, a right wing radio station whose race baiting diatribes trigger a violent uprising. Joanne Woodward, Pat Hingle, and Anthony Perkins, make up the formidable supporting cast. Mocked as over the top in 1970, Robert Stone’s cautionary screenplay was just a dry run for today’s breaking news.

Most noted for its troubled production background, this hospital-set murder thriller turns a doctor into a detective: James Coburn’s medico undertakes an amateur investigation of a crime involving an illegal abortion, and the cover-up thereof. Although tangled up in the crazy James Aubrey-Kirk Kerkorian regime at MGM, Blake Edwards’ film can boast a strong supporting cast: Jennifer O’Neill, Pat Hingle, Elizabeth Allan, Dan O’Herlihy, James Hong, Michael Blodgett, Regis Toomey and John Hillerman.

The Warner Archive has released the 1972 MGM thriller The Carey Treatment on Blu-ray. James Coburn has one of his best roles as Dr. Peter Carey, a rebellious but esteemed pathologist who moves to Boston to take a prominent position at one of the city's most highly regarded hospitals. The charismatic Carey loses no time in gaining friends, alienating top brass and bedding the comely chief dietician (Jennifer O'Neill). However, he soon finds himself embroiled in a politically volatile investigation when a fellow surgeon is arrested for performing an illegal abortion on the 15 year-old daughter of the hospital's crusty administrator (Dan O'Herlihy). (The movie was released a year before the landmark Roe V. Wade decision that legalized abortion in America and now appears to be on the verge of being reversed.) Coburn believes his friend's protestations of innocence and decides to launch his own investigation into the matter.

Few actors had the screen and stage presence of Yul Brynner. There never was an actor quite like him and there hasn't been since. Like most thespians, Brynner had his share of good movies as well as those that fell considerably short of their potential. Nevertheless, the man never gave a false performance. He came across as supremely self-confidant even when he must have suspected the material he was given proved to be far below his considerable talents. Much of his self-confidence seemed to stem from an inflated ego. Robert Vaughn once told me that when Brynner arrived on the set of "The Magnificent Seven" in Mexico, he was still firmly in the King of Siam mode that had seen him win an Oscar. Vaughn said he carried himself as though he were real life royalty at all times. You didn't chat with him casually. Rather, he would grant you an audience.

There has never been a bigger year for the Dark Knight in movie theaters. Not only will we get a brand-new version of the character played by Robert Pattinson in director Matt Reeves‘ upcoming film, The Batman, but we’re also set to see the return of Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck to the role in The Flash. Yes, that’s three Batmen across two movies, and one of them is already shooting yet another movie as the Caped Crusader.
Keaton has arrived in Glasgow to film his scenes for the Batgirl movie, which will hit HBO Max some time later this year as well (most likely after The Flash officially brings this classic Batman into the Dceu). We don’t know very much about Keaton’s role in the movie, although it’s reasonable to assume that he’ll serve as a mentor for Leslie Grace’s Barbara as...

Every once in a while a movie makes me think, ‘this one’s too good to review, just tell them to see it and they’ll understand.’ John Cusack is a penny-ante small stakes cheat, his girlfriend Annette Bening hooks on the side while seeking a partner for ‘long cons,’ and his mother is an operative for the Mob, placing large bets at the race track to manipulate the odds on select horses. Each worships the ‘left-handed form of human endeavor’ and depends on it to the degree that human trust just can’t be maintained. Paramount’s plain wrap re-issue touts the film’s four Oscar nominations; the Stephen Frears film is the best adaptation yet of a Jim Thompson crime novel.

It’s not hard to find footage of Pat Hingle since he was one of the many actors that weren’t always celebrated as a big deal in the movies and on TV, but he was definitely present and helped to make things a little better in his own way. The actor sadly passed on back in 2009, but there are plenty of movies that one can watch that feature him in some of his best roles. A lot of people probably remember him bet as Commissioner James Gordon from the Batman movies, those featuring Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney.

After making virtually no forward progress for almost six years, and if anything going backwards given the constant turnover of writers and directors, over the last few months, The Flash has burst into life faster than the title hero himself. Leading man Ezra Miller is reportedly safe for now following his high-profile misdemeanor, while Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are both set to make their unexpected returns as Batman.
Even though there are two Dark Knights already set to feature, rumors have nonetheless claimed that there could be even more on the way including Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Thomas Wayne, our first look at Batman Beyond‘s Terry McGinnis or even Val Kilmer reprising his role from Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever.
However, if Kilmer doesn’t return, then it could finally put an end to the debate that has dogged the Batman franchise for decades. Many fans view Batman Forever...

Though he’s most familiar to audiences as J. Jonah Jameson, J.K. Simmons hopped over from the Marvel universe to DC for Justice League, in which he played Commissioner Gordon. He didn’t have a major role in the theatrical cut, but the Oscar-winning actor provided a fan-pleasingly traditional take on the Gotham cop. The good news is we should see some new footage of him in the role in the Snyder Cut, coming to HBO Max next year.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons was asked about his thoughts on the Snyder Cut finally being released. Like many of the rest of the cast, the Spider-Man star is happy for the filmmaker getting to realize his original vision for the pic and is personally interested to see it when it’s released. He also promised that it’ll definitely be a lengthy movie, due to how much Snyder wants to achieve.

The ‘summer movie season’. Future generations might have to look up the dictionary definition, but for those of us old enough to remember, Hollywood once used to wait until the summer to flood cinemas with their most expensive and hopefully most profitable blockbuster movies of the year. ‘Cinemas’. Our kids might have to look that up too. You’d sit in a big room with lots of other people and watch a movie on a big screen. It was great fun.
The summer of 1994 had been a record-breaking affair with two bona fide über-hits in The Lion King and Forrest Gump, which between them had taken close to $1.5 billion.
The following summer failed to offer up anything that came close to matching that kind of phenomena. However, there was a pretty consistent level of quality across the board – with some noticeably stinky exceptions. In fact, four of the eventual five...

Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon in “The Batman,” director Matt Reeves announced Wednesday.
Late in the afternoon, Reeves tweeted a gif of Wright saying “Tweet something,” along with the text “Tweet! #Gordon,” and a bat emoji.
Created in 1939 by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Jim Gordon is commissioner of Gotham City’s police department, most often portrayed as a veteran officer who formed an unofficial partnership with Batman first to combat systemic corruption inside Gpd and later to deal with the supervillains plaguing the city. He’s also the father of Barbara Gordon, who secretly fights crime alongside the caped crusader as Batgirl. Gordon’s backstory is further elaborated on in Frank Miller’s “Batman: Year One,” where he’s depicted as a disgraced Chicago cop who finds personal and career redemption after moving to Gotham City just as Batman begins his caped crusade.

Matt Reeves The Batman's is currently in talks with Jeffrey Wright for the role of Jim Gordon and Jonah Hill for an unspecified villain.
It looks like Batman is getting a new friend in the Gotham City Police Department and one potential enemy around town. Luckily for him, the former is an Emmy and Golden Globe award-winner. The Hollywood Reporter broke late Monday evening that Warner Bros. is in negotiations with Westworld star Jeffrey Wright to portray Jim Gordon, the eternal ally to the Caped Crusader, in The Batman. No matter the era in his life, Gordon is always on the Bat’s side either as a lone trustworthy detective in a crooked town or as the newly minted police commissioner determined to root out corruption. Variety, meanwhile, reports Jonah Hill is being eyed for a mysterious villain role.

Jeffrey Wright and Jonah Hill are in talks to star in the upcoming film from director Matt Reeves, “The Batman,” according to new reports. The DC reboot will star Robert Pattinson, as already announced, as the caped crusader.
Wright is circling the role of Commissioner James Gordon, one of the Dark Knight’s most trusted allies in Gotham City. In the 1989 version of the film directed by Tim Burton, Gordon was played by Pat Hingle. In Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films — which brought a certain gravitas and real-world solemnity to the pop-colored comic book franchise — Gordon was played by Gary Oldman.
Jonah Hill, per Collider, is in talks to play The Riddler. He has previously been played in live-action by Frank Gorshin and John Astin in the 1960s “Batman” television series, Jim Carrey in the 1995 film “Batman Forever,” and Cory Michael Smith in the series “Gotham.”

It’s well known around these parts of my irrational fear of arachnids – in real life, that is. On film, however, they are (unfairly or not) one of my favorite villains. And yes, I say villains, because dammit they bite and kill people; sure, it’s their “nature”, but mine is breathing and not being paralyzed and/or spun in webbing like so much human Saran Wrap. Okay, now that that’s out of the way, we can talk about Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo (1977), a fun TV movie with more creepy crawlers than you can shake a stick at. (A 10 foot stick if you’re smart.)
Originally airing as part of The CBS Wednesday Night Movies, Cargo had it rough folks; ABC hauled out Charlie’s Angels/Starsky & Hutch, and NBC offered up *checks notes* The Oregon Trail/Big Hawaii. Truth be told, I probably would have been tuning...

Actor Morgan Woodward, known for playing "The Man with No Eyes" in Cool Hand Luke and a recurring guest role on Dallas, died Friday on February 22 morning at his home in California, the Fielder House Museum in Arlington, Texas. He was 93.
Thomas Morgan Woodward was born in Fort Worth, Texas, September 16, 1925. He was educated in the public schools of Arlington, graduated from high school in 1944, then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps Pilot Training Program. This was natural, as he had been flying since the age of sixteen.
Following World War II, Woodward entered Arlington State College, where he majored in music and drama. During this period, Woodward began his professional career with the renowned Margo Jones Repertory Theatre in Dallas. His ultimate goal however, was the Metropolitan Opera. Later, the slow emergence of grand opera in America convinced him that this was not a promising career to pursue.

As someone who has loved Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive for more than 30 years now (I wrote about it Here a few years back), the recent Vestron Video Collector’s Series Blu-ray for what I consider to be the ultimate cult film of the 1980s is an absolute treasure trove of awesomeness for fans and newcomers alike. The special features dive into literally everything you could want (minus an interview with King and Maximum Overdrive star Emilio Estevez), from the casting to the effects to how producers Dino De Laurentiis and Martha Schumacher (De Laurentiis) helped establish “Hollywood East” in Wilmington, North Carolina, and even follows the story of how the Green Goblin head came to be restored back in 2011.
I won’t really dive into the story of Maximum Overdrive, because chances are, if you’re reading this site, you are probably already pretty familiar with King’s tale...

If there’s anything more scrutinized than a remake of a movie that was good to begin with, it’s definitely a remake of a good horror movie. The last decade has given scary movie aficionados much anxiety and concern as they’ve watched countless favorites get a fresh coat of paint with a splash of glitz while sacrificing the quality that made the originals stand out in the first place, reaching a point where the remake craze became joke fodder in the late Wes Craven’s Scream 4 when potential victim Kirby (Hayden Panettiere) is asked to name the “remake of the groundbreaking horror movie” that jump started the craze. And what does she do? She lists practically every classic in a minute, a most damning reflection of the direction the genre had gone in the hands of major studios. The blacklist strikes back as both writer Ben Maddow and director Martin Ritt examine the booming ’50s phenomenon of The Suburbs. No money up front will get you into an ‘estate’ of your dreams, provided you’re white. Possibly a little too direct in its messaging of sickness in the American dream, much of what we see in the ticky-tacky subdivision of Sunrise Hills will ring true to those of us who lived it.

This article marks Part 9 of the 21-part Gold Derby series Meryl Streep at the Oscars. Join us as we look back at Meryl Streep’s nominations, the performances that competed with her at the Academy Awards, the results of each race and the overall rankings of the contenders.
By 1989, Meryl Streep had graced the silver screen in 15 motion pictures. Thirteen of these were dramas, with the exceptions being “Manhattan” (1979), in which Streep had a small supporting role, and “Heartburn” (1986), a critical and financial failure. So, it was about time that Streep at last scored a leading role in a successful comedy.
“She-Devil” (1989) found Streep in the broadest, loosest form of her career. Portraying flamboyant romantic novelist Mary Fisher, opposite Roseanne Barr, Streep herself garnered positive notices but the picture flopped even harder than “Heartburn,” spending one week in the box office top 10.
Her follow-up to “She-Devil” had shades of “Heartburn” on paper.

(See previous post: Fourth of July Movies: Escapism During a Weird Year.) On the evening of the Fourth of July, besides fireworks, fire hazards, and Yankee Doodle Dandy, if you're watching TCM in the U.S. and Canada, there's the following: Peter H. Hunt's 1776 (1972), a largely forgotten film musical based on the Broadway hit with music by Sherman Edwards. William Daniels, who was recently on TCM talking about 1776 and a couple of other movies (A Thousand Clowns, Dodsworth), has one of the key roles as John Adams. Howard Da Silva, blacklisted for over a decade after being named a communist during the House Un-American Committee hearings of the early 1950s (Robert Taylor was one who mentioned him in his testimony), plays Benjamin Franklin. Ken Howard is Thomas Jefferson, a role he would reprise in John Huston's 1976 short Independence. (In the short, Pat Hingle was cast as John Adams; Eli Wallach was Benjamin Franklin.) Warner...

By strange and fortuitous coincidence, my meeting with Jack Garfein fell upon the nexus of several intersecting moments in history. It was Friday, January 27th — International Holocaust Remembrance Day. One week earlier, Donald J. Trump was sworn to office as forty-fifth President of the United States; and in the ensuing weekend, allegations of Trump’s unpunished sexual misconduct, callous attitudes toward women and courting of radical right-wing supporters helped bring about the Women’s March on Washington, one of the largest mass protests in the nation’s history. All around, people are anxiously reading the past with tenuous hopes and fears for the future. History, so often a thing defined after the fact, is currently in violent and furious motion.
Jack Garfein is living history, and he’s not shy about telling it. Born to Ukrainian Jews in 1930, Mr. Garfein personally witnessed as a child the rise of Nazi Germany...

Michael Keaton contrasts making Spider-Man: Homecoming with his Batman days...
With a brief stop along the way for the Oscar-winning Birdman, Michael Keaton has only really appeared in three comic book movies, two of which we’ve seen, one of which we haven’t.
The two we’ve seen – 1989’s Batman and 1992’ Batman Returns – came from a different era of blockbuster filmmaking, where a sequel wasn’t even properly considered until the takings of the film before had been counted (the first two Superman films were effectively shot together, so only slightly break that rule).
Next year, though, he joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a key role in Spider-Man: Homecoming. In it, he plays the villainous Vulture against Tom Holland’s webslinger. And in a new interview with Deadline, Keaton has been reflecting on just how much things have changed.
“Marvel? That is one well-oiled machine”, he said.

Stephen King described Maximum Overdrive as a "moron movie". But was he right?
The film: The Earth is passing through the tail of a comet and it causes the technology across the world to become sentient and automatically evil. Humans swiftly become the targets and a motley crew of survivors take refuge in the Dixie Boy Truckstop, including ex-con Bill (Emilio Estevez), his grumpy, power-mad boss Bubba (Pat Hingle), and hitchhiker Brett (Laura Harrington). As the trucks around them start to pick them off, or more accurately, flatten them like pancakes, they have to work together and figure out a way to defeat the sentient vehicles surrounding them.

The news that Academy Award winner J.K Simmons will take on the role of Commissioner Gordon in Justice League was met with great excitement when it was announced recently. This supporting character in the DC comic book universe has always played a significant, vital role – specifically in terms of the stories of Batman – and as such, he has been a consistent onscreen presence in the past decade, that has included Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
In comic books, Commissioner James Gordon was introduced at the same time as Batman, in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, and is most often depicted as the Police Commissioner of Gotham City. With initial indications suggesting he was a U.S Marine before joining the police force, Gordon is a reluctant supporter of Batman’s vigilante tactics – feeling that the Dark Knight is a necessary solution for the city he loves.

A lot of fans were hoping that Bryan Cranston would be cast as Commissioner Gordon in the Dceu, but when J.K. Simmons ended being cast in the role last month there weren’t really any complaints. Fans seemed to be open to the idea of Simmons taking on the role of the iconic DC character. I think it’s a great choice and that he’s going to bring something to Gordon that we’ve never seen before.
During an interview with Collider, Simmons opened up about playing the character and what he’s doing to prepare to play him:
"Well, to read the comics, yes, absolutely. I’m still a couple of months out from doing that and I have two other films before then, so I haven’t gotten started on that. Obviously, a lot of really wonderful actors have played that character previously, and most of them...

Collider recently interviewed Oscar winner J.K. Simmons for his latest film, The Meddler, opening April 22nd in Los Angeles and New York City. During the interview, Simmons was asked about his role as Police Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's upcoming DC Comics adaptation, Justice League.
Simmons was asked if he researched the part by reading Batman comics, to which Simmons replied:
“Well, to read the comics, yes, absolutely. I’m still a couple of months out from doing that and I have two other films before then, so I haven’t gotten started on that. Obviously, a lot of really wonderful actors have played that character previously, and most of them I saw at the time the movies came out, never imagining that I would be doing the same thing. So, I can’t say that I don’t have some impression of that character in my head that...

After leaving his mark on the Marvel world by playing J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man movies, J.K. Simmons is now ready to enter the DC Extended Universe with his role as Commissioner James Gordon in both the upcoming Justice League movie and presumably Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film.
While Gary Oldman already did an outstanding job with the character in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, fans are certainly excited to see what Simmons can do with the part, and in a recent interview with Collider, the actor spoke about how he’s preparing to play the iconic character.

Grassroots petitions and sheer fan demand may be coaxing him back to the Marvel universe and Jon Watts’ Spider-Man reboot, but today The Hollywood Reporter brings word that J.K. Simmons has boarded Warner’s Justice League movie as Commissioner Gordon.
Just in time, too, considering that Zack Snyder’s superhero ensemble piece is set to lens at the beginning of next month, and Simmons is now on board as Gotham’s other watchful protector.
