Microsoft announced a new DVR feature is coming to Xbox One, but you may want to go pick up an external hard drive if you don't have one already. You will need it! Find out why after the jump!
During Microsoft's Xbox Gamescom conference they announced that Xbox One will soon have DVR functions for over-the-air TV. The Xbox will be capable of recording live TV, scheduling recordings, and best of all, do it all without interrupting your gaming.
There is only one thing to make certain so far though. You will need an external hard drive.
The DVR update is coming as part of the "New Xbox One Experience" which is a revamp of the dashboard on the console. Speaking about the update project lead, Richard Irving, noted that the DVR function will require an external hard drive and will not utilize the system's internal drive at all.

Gamers who share their play sessions on sites like YouTube and Twitch can already upload footage straight from the consoles to the Internet. Now, thanks to a recent app, those gamers will gain more tools on their PCs as well. The Xbox Live app for Windows 10 includes some features that assist video game streamers.
As The Verge notes, Microsoft first announced the Xbox Live Windows 10 app in January, and consumers got a look at the app at the Game Developers Conference, which takes place in San Francisco between March 2-6. Among other features, users can browse through clips recorded on their Xbox One consoles, edit those clips, and upload them to the social web. "It's our aspiration to make every game better on Windows 10," said Microsoft exec Richard Irving.

In The Kingdom Of The Blind …
Back in the seventies, my grandad used to love watching Columbo. He loved the way he missed nothing and always managed to get the suspect to tie themselves in knots. “He’s a clever one, that Columbo”, he told me. Of course, my grandad had never heard of Peter Falk. Columbo was real to him and, in a way, he was right to think so.
Typecasting is a common fear among TV actors – although, of course, it’s something they all secretly pray for – but there are few who have deserved it and embraced it as much as Falk. William Link and Richard Levinson may have created Columbo, but Falk owned him.
It was not inevitably so. Falk wasn’t even the first person to play him. The character first appeared in the person of one Bert Freed as part of a 1960 TV show called The Chevy Mystery Show,...
