The Conners will get one final run on ABC.
The network has picked up a seventh season of the comedy, which will be its last on the network. It’s also set to be the shortest of any of the show’s seasons, with an episode count likely in the single digits. The shortest previous season of The Conners was its first, which ran 11 episodes; this year’s strikes-shortened edition has 13. The series as a whole will have 106 episodes to its credit after the May 22 season finale.
The Conners premiered in fall 2018, a few months after ABC canceled its highly rated Roseanne revival following racist remarks by star Roseanne Barr. For any television series reaching its 100th episode, looking back is a given, but there aren’t many shows with a 35-year history like ABC’s “The Conners,” the sitcom following the blue-collar family with an affinity for getting knocked down by life’s struggles while making us laugh along the way. “It’s just lucky, I guess,” says John Goodman, who plays patriarch Dan Conner. “Now all of a sudden, it’s 100 episodes. I can’t believe how fast the time went by, but I guess that’s just because I’m getting old.”

Producer Tom Werner and the team behind ABC sitcom “The Conners” have reason to smile.
The series independently produced by Werner Entertainment has been sold in syndication by distributor Debmar-Mecury to TV station groups representating 85% of U.S. TV households. Starting in the fall reruns of the show’s first five seasons will begin airing in late afternoon and early evening time slots on stations around the country. “The Conners” began its strike-delayed sixth season on Feb. 7.
“The Conners” is one of the few new comedies in recent years to make it into traditional syndication deals with local stations around the country. Traditional multi-camera comedies in the vein of “The Conners” have become few and far between in the past decade as streaming options proliferated and the creative community leaned toward single-camera comedies and other formats that aren’t as syndication-friendly as a traditional sitcom.

“The Conners” is making its way to off-net syndication, as Tom Werner’s Werner Entertainment has stuck a deal with both Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group and Debmar-Mercury to distribute the sitcom’s first five seasons (and future seasons as well). “The Conners” will be sold for a fall 2024 launch in domestic syndication.
Under the deal, Lionsgate’s Worldwide Television Distribution Group will oversee international distribution, including SVOD, AVOD, basic cable and Fast rights, while Debmar-Mercury (which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lionsgate) will handle domestic syndication.
“The Conners,” which launched in 2018 as the successor series to “Roseanne”, was recently renewed for a sixth season on ABC. The show is ABC’s most-watched comedy, and has already hit 93 episodes — making it a rare new sitcom entrant in the off-network syndication world.

ABC is going all-in on The Conners, as the Roseanne spinoff series has been given a 22-episode order for its current fifth season. According to Deadline, the news was shared during the October 7 taping of the popular sitcom. The 22 episodes make this the biggest season of The Conners ever — the first season, which came after the Roseanne revival crashed and burned, consisted of just 11 episodes, while Seasons 2 -4 included 20 episodes each. The show also added a new character in its latest episode. It was revealed that Louise and Neville’s estranged brother Aaron died of a heart attack, leaving behind a 17-year-old son named Caleb, played by Shameless‘ Ethan Cutkosky, who reunited with fellow Shameless alum Emma Kenney (Harris Conner-Healy). The Conners premiered on October 16, 2018, following the cancellation of Roseanne in May of that year due to controversial comments made by Roseanne Barr on Twitter. Exclusive: The current fifth season of ABC’s The Conners will be the largest yet for the Roseanne spinoff. It will include 22 episodes, traditionally considered a full-season broadcast order.
The series’ first season, which rose out of the ashes of Roseanne’s implosion, consisted of 11 episodes. I hear the news was shared during the Oct. 7 taping of the multi-camera comedy.

Block party scheduled for Lanford: The Conners will return for a fifth season at ABC.
The Bruce Helford comedy remains ABC’s second-highest Wednesday comedy following The Goldbergs, and has been a steady performer for the network.
The Roseanne spinoff kicked off its fourth season with a live premiere that drew a .6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.37 million viewers. Despite all the early drama involving Roseanne Barr — who originally starred in the follow-up to the iconic sitcom Roseanne — the comedy has skillfully proved that a reboot can still thrive if it features popular stars like Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson.
A pickup for the sitcom seemed all but certain after the studio reached new pacts last month with Gilbert (who also serves as an executive producer), Goodman, Metcalf and Goranson. The actors didn’t have standard six-year contracts because of the way the spinoff came...

Did your heart ache watching Dan Conner set fire to the bedroom set he bought for Roseanne when they first got married?
Well, put those tissues away because we've got some exciting news!
The Conners have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and Charitybuzz to auction off pieces from that bedroom set and much more!
With Louise moving in, there were big changes afoot for the Conner family as Dan tried to sell the bedroom furniture he bought for Roseanne when they were first married.
In my The Conners Season 4 Episode 8 review, I mentioned how I wished Dan had considered donating the bedroom set to charity instead of setting it on fire.
Well, in a providential turn of events, the actual bedroom set may not have been burned to ashes after all! (Perhaps not everything we see on TV is real. Who knew?)

ABC’s “The Conners” isn’t really a sitcom. It’s more a “human comedy.” Just as “Roseanne”, created by star Roseanne Barr and Matt Williams, was praised for offering a realistic look at middle-class life while delivering the laughs, so too has the spinoff which is set to return to for its fourth season this fall.
This year, the sprawling Conner family living in the fictional Lanford, Illinois was hit hard by Covid-19. There was unemployment. Dan (John Goodman) nearly lost the family home. His girlfriend Louise (Katey Sagal) got the virus. Becky (Lecy Goranson) went off the wagon and into rehab where she had an emotional confrontation with her father Dan. Darlene (executive producer Sara Gilbert) and her boyfriend Ben (Jay R. Ferguson) went through some rough patches. Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) struggled to keep the restaurant Lunch Box afloat but found love with Louise’s brother Neville (Nat Faxon), the town’s vet.

Becky swore at the end of last week’s episode of “The Conners” that the one drink would be her last, but as anyone familiar with substance-abuse issues can attest, things aren’t always so simple.
Wednesday’s two-part episode saw Becky’s bad decision turn into a full-blown relapse when her dream of going back to school puts a strain on her relationship with her baby, who now feels more comfortable with her father’s relatives than with the always-busy Becky.
“It’s kind of like damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” Lecy Goranson said in an interview with TheWrap. “Do I work? Do I make something out of myself to the detriment of my relationship with my daughter? What else can she do? She feels like she’s out of options.”

Danielle Harris, Brian Austin Green and Candice Bergen will guest star on upcoming episodes of “The Conners,” ABC announced Tuesday.
Harris previously recurred on the fifth season of “Roseanne” in 1993 as Molly Tilden, the Conners’ next-door neighbor and a high school rival for David’s (Johnny Galecki) affection. She will reprise the character for one episode airing April 7. Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Molly were once enemies, but now, 30 years later, they find themselves having had similar lives and become close.
Green will appear on two upcoming episodes as Jeff, a “quirky, free spirit traveler who lives out of his van.”
Earlier this season, Bergen made her debut on “The Conners” as Ben’s (Jay R. Ferguson) mother, Barb. Despite being from Lanford, Barb “has a superior air and a sharp tongue, but she’s much more agreeable when she’s had a few drinks.” She will return to the series for two more episodes.

A crew member for “The Conners” died on the ABC sitcom’s Los Angeles set on Thursday. The man, whose identity was not disclosed, also worked on “Roseanne.”
“With heavy hearts we regret to confirm that a member of our technical crew suffered a fatal medical event today,” a spokesperson for production company Carsey-Werner confirmed to TheWrap via a statement. “He was a much loved member of ‘The Conners’ and ‘Roseanne’ families for over 25 years. As we remember our beloved colleague, we ask that you respect the privacy of his family and loved ones as they begin their grieving process.”
The man was on the catwalk on Stage 22 on the CBS Studio Center when he suffered a medical emergency and was unable to be resuscitated by medics, according to TMZ. The gossip website said the man was in “his 50s or 60s” and primarily worked the lighting for the show.

“We couldn’t be more excited to spread some much-needed joy with our Wednesday night comedy lineup,” said Karey Burke,...

The Conners is slowly returning to production at ABC.
Today on Good Morning America, star and executive producer Sara Gilbert of the beloved Roseanne spinoff debuted the all-new key art for the third season of the fan-favorite comedy, set to return to ABC on Wednesdays this fall.
While a premiere date has yet to be announced, the series is expect to be a part of the network's fall lineup, and if it returns to production as planned, it should be able to make a September or early October bow.
The poster revealed the following tagline:
"Socially distant as always," and featured the show's adult cast donning facemasks, confirming it will be addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.
If you watch The Conners online, you know the series does not shy away from real-world topics.
Instead, it embraces them with open arms and shines a lens on them from the different perspectives of the characters,...

ABC’s flagship comedy series The Conners is back in production on its upcoming 19-episode third season. I hear production started today, with the first taping slated for later this week. The multi-camera show is being shot with minimal crew and without an in-studio audience.
The Conners is believed to be the first broadcast comedy series to resume production on set. It is produced by Tom Werner’s Werner Entertainment.
Independent studios have been the most active in pursuing return to production amid the pandemic with strict Covid-19 protocols.
Sony Pictures TV’s S.W.A.T. became the first broadcast drama to start filming new episodes, while Tyler Perry was the first to start primetime series production in the U.S. with his BET shows. Sony TV’s The Goldbergs is eying a production restart in a week; The Good Doctor is looking to get filming underway in Vancouver at the end of this month.

The Conners dropped the curtain on Season 2 with the threat of imprisonment hanging over at least one family member’s head.
In the final moments of Tuesday’s closer, Becky became a reluctant accomplice when deported baby daddy (and newly-minted hubby) Emilio illegally reentered the U.S., setting up what exec producer Bruce Helford describes as a “rough” Season 3 for Beverly Rose’s parents. Sister Darlene’s relationship with Ben also faces new challenges after the former twisted the latter’s arm into using their “new house money” to bail out Dan. On a more upbeat note, Dan and Louise...

Tonight, “The Conners” joins the pantheon of live sitcom episodes with “Live From Lanford.” That’s right — the original iteration of “Roseanne” never got the chance to partake in this more contemporary sitcom rite of passage, and neither did the revival (for different reasons), but now, their successor will.
And tonight’s episode of “The Conners” isn’t just live: It’s specifically tied to the 2020 Presidential race, because why not?
The Episode
“Live From Lanford” is the 12th episode of “The Conners” Season 2. The series stars John Goodman as Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Lecy Goranson as Becky Conner-Healy, Michael Fishman as D.J. Conner, Emma Kenney as Harris Conner-Healy, Ames McNamara as Mark Conner-Healy, and Jayden Rey as Mary Conner.
Here is the official live episode synopsis, from ABC:

As families across the country prepare to sit on their couches and comment on the 92nd annual Academy Award winners, so too will the fictional family members on ABC’s “The Conners.”
During the third commercial break of the live film awards telecast on Sunday, Feb. 9, “The Conners” will deliver a live spot where characters comment on who won, who lost and/or what other buzzy moment just occurred during the host-less ceremony, Variety has learned exclusively.
“We’ll know within a minute or so of the live promo happening what the last award or few awards were and if anything was interesting about them,” showrunner Bruce Helford tells Variety. “We’ll write something or the cast will chime in and say, ‘Oh I want to say this…'”

ABC’s The Conners is getting political, with help from guest star Katey Sagal.
The comedy is set to broadcast a live episode on Tuesday, February 11, the night of the New Hampshire Primary, ABC announced today as part of the TCA Winter Press Tour.
In recognition of the nation’s first primary of the 2020 political season, the episode will air live on both the East and West Coasts, and incorporate ABC News coverage of real-time election results into the storyline as well.
According to a description from the network: The live episode will find Mark (Ames McNamara) watching the results of the primary for a school report with Harris (Emma Kenney), who is apathetic to the electoral process and believes money’s influence in politics means real change is impossible. The rest of the Conners share their differing takes on why they all think everyone should vote, including their working-class...

ABC is expanding its stake in live sitcoms to include “The Conners.”
The followup series to “Roseanne” will go live on the night of the New Hampshire Primary, Tuesday, Feb. 11, and ABC News’s coverage of the real-time results of that political event will be incorporated into the broadcast, which will be performed and air live on both the east and west coasts.
This still-to-be-titled episode will start with Mark (Ames McNamara) watching the results of the primary for a school report with Harris (Emma Kenney), who is apathetic to the electoral process and believes money’s influence in politics means real change is impossible. This allows the rest of the family to weigh in with their usual differing takes on why people should vote, including the idea of voting for a candidate that you may not love but who you think will “screw you the least.”

The upcoming second season of ABC’s The Conners will be the largest for the franchise since it returned to the network two years ago with Roseanne.
Talks with the cast are still underway but “we will end up with around a full season,” ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said of The Conners‘ upcoming second season during the Disney upfront press event Tuesday morning.
A full season in broadcast is 22 episodes. I hear that the Roseanne spinoff is eying a 19-episode second season contingent on being able to work out star Laurie Metcalf’s schedule.
ABC renewed The Conners in March after series’ producer Werner Entertainment secured new deals with the core cast of Roseanne veterans, John Goodman, who plays Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris), Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner) and Lecy Goranson (Becky Conner-Healy). The series’ first season consisted of 11 episodes, while the Roseanne revival season had 9 episodes.

ABC has renewed its highest-rated new show, “The Conners,” for a second season, Variety has learned.
The show’s stars, including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Ames McNamara and Laurie Metcalf, are all set to return to Lanford, after several of them signed a new deal with the network on Thursday.
“We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conner family,” said ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke in a statement. “This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves.”
The comedy’s freshman season achieved an average of 9.5 million total viewers per episode and a 2.2 rating in the key 18-49 demo. The show’s debut, sans Roseanne, achieved a 2.3 rating and 10.5 million viewers.
