- Jesse Colin Young was born on November 11, 1941 in New York City, New York, USA. He is an actor and composer, known for True Lies (1994), Zabriskie Point (1970) and A Walk on the Moon (1999).
- Lead vocalist/guitarist of the folk-rock group The Youngbloods that peaked on the American Billboard charts at # 5 in September 1969 with "Get Together." The song was written in 1964 by Chet Powers and several versions had been recorded before the Youngbloods did so. Their version was actually recorded in 1966, then released in July 1967, but only reached #62 on the Billboard Top 100. The same recording was re-released in 1969 to much greater popularity.
- Attended Ohio State University.
- Kicked out of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts for incessantly playing guitar and singing Everly Brothers songs with his roommate.
- Came up with his name by mashing up the names of two outlaws, Jesse James and Cole Younger of the James-Younger gang, and in the middle, he added Formula One race car designer and driver Colin Chapman.
- Was attending NYU when he joined the Greenwich Village folk scene.
