A crime procedural called "Bones" was always going to involve some pretty grisly scenes. While the hit Fox series often kept things light, that didn't mean it held back when it came to depicting some truly gruesome and upsetting crime scenes. As John Francis Daley, who played Sweets, put it in a 2012 interview:
"Every episode there's something that makes me want to gag. But that's, I think, part of what makes the show successful is there's a morbid curiosity that everyone has, and to be able to combine horrific deaths and body parts with humor and light subjects is brilliant."
Throughout its 12-season run, "Bones" presented some surprisingly graphic scenes, particularly when it came to the dead bodies. One body, in particular, had Eric Millegan, who played Zack Addy, extra grossed out, while another gross bathtub scene had to be cut completely. Much of this was down to brothers Kevin and Chris Yagher,...

"Bones" is a show that had its fair share of dead bodies to contend with during its 12-season run. It makes sense, given that it's a show about people trying to solve deadly crimes. But one of the show's most hard-to-contend-with bodies came early on during its first season, so much so that Eric Millegan, who played Zack Addy, had a difficult time even being around it. It was, as he put it, "really gross."
The body in question showed up in the episode "A Man on Death Row," which was the seventh episode of the show overall. It centers on Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) investigating the case of a man on death row who some claim is innocent. They dig up new evidence, including two additional murders. This forces them to question the legitimacy of the forthcoming execution. Part of digging through the case involved digging up a years-old body.

When Bones signs off on Tuesday night, after 12 seasons on Fox, it will do so as the network’s longest-running scripted drama, having solved -- according to finale promos -- 275 cases in 246 episodes. And that prolific conviction rate may not even be the most impressive thing that the series accomplished.
Because Bones -- which was based on the life and works of real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs -- did more than just stay on the air, leapfrogging more than 20 different time slots in its 12-year run. In a television landscape populated with morose antiheroes and sarcastic protagonists that often poke fun at the earnestness of cops-and-science procedurals like Bones, sometimes directly by name (see: American Dad, Bojack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers and more), the show was a champion of justice and evidence, science and guts, “brains and heart.” It told new stories every week, while at the same time unfolding its central characters little by little, making...

Bones signs off on Tuesday, after 12 seasons of crime solving, evidence examining, blood, guts and, most importantly, bones. But at the core of the long-running Fox procedural -- the “heart of the matter,” if you will -- was a partnership between forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz).
From their first episode together, Brennan and Booth’s dynamic was electric, and while the will-they-or-won’t-they of it all took nearly seven seasons to sort out (more if you count that they don’t actually tie the knot until season nine), their relationship kept fans hooked for all 245 episodes. We watched Brennan wrestle with her feelings as Booth looked for love, saw them lay it all on the line only to yank it back again, and finally, at long last, got to witness their happy ending. Two kids and countless hurdles later, they’re still going strong.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Tuesday’s Bones.
Bones set the stage for its series finale on Tuesday’s explosive penultimate episode, which, true to form for the long-running Fox procedural, combined the joy of a wedding with the terror of a killer on the loose. And everything ended with a bang.
The episode, titled “The Day in the Life,” flashed back and forward around the events of Cam (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo’s (Pej Vahdat) reception, giving fans a chance to see the happy couple and all their friends and relatives -- Michelle! Felicia! Most of the old “squinterns!” -- celebrating their much-deserved bliss.
However, the honeymoon doesn’t last long, as the next morning Cam and Arastoo are summoned back to the Jeffersonian Institute’s Medico-Legal Lab, where, as Brennan (Emily Deschanel) puts it, “everything” has gone wrong.

The team is headed to a lumberjack competition for the case in Bones' "The Flaw in the Saw." Plus, Hodgins is going to be doing something to help Zack -- but not telling the others.
According to Fox, "The dismembered body of successful golfer-turned-lumberjack Phyllis Paul brings the squints to the Lumber Sports Regional Championships. At this competition, Booth and Brennan discover numerous secrets that could have resulted in Phyllis' murder, including an affair with a married rival. Meanwhile, Hodgins secretly analyzes the bacteria on the bone of a prior victim that he believes will exonerate the murderer, Zack Addy (guest star Eric Millegan)."...

Let’s be honest: Not too many live action shows have lasted for longer than a handful of seasons on Fox (just ask The Finder). But those that have are among the most hallowed in the annals of television history. So I find hit highly befitting that Bones join the pantheon of such heavyweights as Married… With Children, The X-Files, 24 and House.
Over the course of the past few decades, it seems like a billion police procedurals have come and gone. What allowed Bones in particular to rise above the rest was not only concocting riveting mysteries each week to enthrall millions of viewers, it was also its reliance on presenting sound scientific investigation to the masses in stylish fashion, and its ability to craft characters that the audience actually cares about. Aside from perhaps Law & Order: Svu and NCIS, I’m not...

7:51Pm: Even after all these years, the cast of Bones — including David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel, Michaela Conlin, T.J. Thyne, John Francis Daley, Executive Producer Stephen Nathan and Creator Hart Hanson — seem genuinely enthusiastic to be celebrating their series at PaleyFest 2012.
7:52Pm: Moderator Michael Ausiello kicks off the panel by congratulating Deschanel on the birth of her real-life bundle of joy Henry. “I love it, I don’t get a lot of sleep, but I love it,” says Deschanel, before spiralling into a highly entertaining story that some might consider ‘Too Much Information’ involving the actress revealing the differences between giving birth in real-life versus on the show (Think: Uncomfortable screaming!)
7:55Pm: Spoiler Alert! Not only does Brennan give birth in a very unconventional Brennan-esque environment, Booth plays an incredibly integral role in the delivery. Cue hilarious back-and-forth between the cast as Deschanel recounts getting peed on by...

Jake Shears and a friend aren't bad, they're just drawn that way.
Just when celebrities thought it was safe to tweet, we decided to jump out from behind the tree with a shocking bonus edition of Celebrity Twitterwatch, this time dedicated to what the your favorite celebrities wore to the big Halloween parties over the weekend.
Of course that's Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters at the top of the page rocking Roger Rabbit, even if the rabbit does look a little demented. Big hands those. You know what they say about guys with big hands.
And as long as we're on classic movies, you might remember out actor Eric Millegan from Bones. But for Halloween he wasn't in a lab coat, but coveralls as a Ghostbuster. They should consider him for the sequel, if it ever happens.
The Good Wife's Michael Arden says that this was just costume #1 for him,...

No matter how you look at it, Bones is a remarkable show. It deftly blends humor into some of the most tragic (and gory!) storylines to be portrayed on television. It also offers a delicate balance of familial friendship that has enchanted viewers for the past six seasons, and remarkably continues to lure in new viewers each week. For a show entering its seventh season, Bones is showing no signs of slowing down and — as this week’s heart-breaking episode will demonstrate once again – is creatively at the top of its game.
On May 9th, the Paley Center honored Bones and gave fans a chance to celebrate the show with creator/executive producer Hart Hanson, executive producer Stephen Nathan and cast members: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin and T.J. Bones' executive producer Stephen Nathan has admitted that he does not know whether Zack will return to the show. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Nathan acknowledged that Zack (Eric Millegan) was popular with viewers. "I know that there's a group of people who want him back, and Eric was a very important part of the show for the time he was on the show," he said. "Whether he comes back is partly a [question] of scheduling and partly a function of how the show is working now." Nathan (more)...

Chris Colfer’s big screen debut, both acting and writing, has a director. Saved! and United States of Tara’s Brian Dannelly is set to direct Struck By Lightning as soon as Colfer wraps the season for Glee. That’s going to bring an interesting sensibility to the film.
I was curious how much attention a mainstream publication would give to Auctus, the gay gladiator in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. TV Guide gave a character rundown, and didn’t mention him at all. So there’s that.
But when they talked about the upcoming glut of romantic comedies on television, they did call Happy Endings a winner, and one reason was “the chauvinistic guy friend (but this time he's gay!)”

I want Adam Bouska to airbrush me back to 1994.
Here at Twitterwatch we experience identity crises every week when we take thirty celebrities' disparate tweets over the course of a week and try and find a narrative. But when the celebrities themselves don't seem to know who they are, things get very meta and we start drinking before noon.
Sasha Roiz, who plays a same-sex loving gangster on Caprica, gets in touch with his younger self while supporting equality. I've often wished I lived somewhere NOH8 did a photoshoot, because I could use some of Adam Bouska's airbrushing myself. Sasha, he was hot enough without the help.
Meanwhile, Boy George weighs in on Lady Gaga/Madonna comparisons with a fairly succinct bit of logic - and we all play dress up to an extent. At least Boy George's desire to pretend has some sass.
As far as acting like...

And According To Me, The Winner Is!
Since every media outlet in existence including American Woodworker, Embalming & Burial and Prison Guard Weekly has already weighed in with their Emmy pics for this Sunday's award show, I thought I'd do something different. Like … take the week off. But the rest of the staff objected to that for some reason.
So instead , since this column is called the Best.Gay.Week.Ever!, I thought it would be fun to look back to the dawn of time and name the gay shows, characters, actors, writers I think most deserving of, well, let's call them the Gay Emmys, or following the lead of Kathy Griffin, the Gemmys!
Here are the categories for which I'll be selecting winners as if these nominees were competing against each other for an Emmy: Best Drama Series, Best Comedy Series, Best Gay Actor Comedy, Best Gay Actor Drama, Best Writing Drama,...

Some of you argued with me about Eric Balfour's body. We all win.
Here at Twitterwatch, one of our favorite things is to find patterns in what celebrities are talking about. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Strangely enough, this week, it seems to have worked. I kind of wish it hadn't. Things are going to get weird.
I've mentioned Eric Balfour's sexy man curves on other threads this week, and some of you have the nerve to disagree with me! So I put him on the front page for Twitterwatch, and right here to prove my point. He's actually gotten better with age when get to looking at pictures. So while what he just tweeted is true, that doesn't mean a little aging hurts.
But as folks age, they often think of plastic surgery. Evidently people in Los Angeles were thinking a lot about aging, at least...

"Bones" fans, how are you guys managing?
You okay?
Recovering from last week's emotional season finale?
Korbi TV knew that the summer doldrums would be a little rough, so we saved some videos to make the hiatus a tiny bit more bearable.
Up first? Tj Thyne (Hodgins) and Eric Millegan (Zack).
The adorable duo was all smiles while celebrating the 100th episode of "Bones" and while they answered a few of our questions, they turned the tables on us as well.
"How were my long [flashback] locks?" Thyne asks in the video below after learning we had already seen the 100th episode.
When we gave him our seal of approval and noted the return of Hodgins' rubber band, he told us that he had actually never stopped wearing the rubber band.
"You know what's funny?" he says. "I've never taken it off. I've absolutely never taken it off. Of all the things that Hodgins has,...

Ever since "Bones" creator Hart Hanson tweeted that the fifth season finale would be called "The Beginning in the End," fans have speculated about what the cryptic title means.
The obvious connection is to the fourth season alternate universe finale -- which was titled "The End in the Beginning" -- and while there are some tie-ins between the two hours, they're more like subtle nods.
That being said, Korbi TV has compiled a list of five episodes you should be familiar with in preparation for next week's season ender.
While we can't tell you why they relate to the upcoming finale, we can tell you what the original Fox press releases said about the individual episodes. We can also maybe say whether the press release mentions the reason(s) you should be rewatching them.
So, without further ado...

[Spoiler Alert: If you haven't seen the May 6 episode of "Bones," go watch it. Then come back to hear what T.J. Thyne has to say about the hour.]
Hey, Hodgins finally got his girl!
It's been a long time coming. I mean, the dude kept the ring he bought for their wedding-that-never-was in his wallet for three years.
So, Mazel Tov, man!
Korbi TV caught up with T.J. Thyne (Hodgins) last month and, as you can see in the video below, he is practically beaming as he tells former co-star Eric Millegan (Zack) how "Hodgela" gets hitched.
And what does he think of the duo's quickie wedding?
"I'm so excited -- it was a really great storyline," Thyne tells us. "For Michaela [Conlin, who plays Angela] and I, it was a blast also because we didn't get to work with each other as much as we were working with each other [before], so we were both kind of missing that interaction. It's been really fun to kind of bring it back together and we had a blast on that."

Nick Adams is the picture of health.
Here at Twitterwatch, we're all about the innermost (tweeted) thoughts of our favorite celebrities. But we're not above taking special notice of the their physical assets too. And a good diet and exercise routine helps keep our interest.
The body that Broadway actor Nick Adams displays at the top of the page is no doubt the product of more exercise in a day than I get in a decade. So I understand why he needs good music at the gym to stay motivated. Plus, being in musical theater I'm guessing show tunes are too much like work for his time off.
Besides the gym, they say the some of the best exercise on the planet is good, vigorous sex. So no doubt the doorbell ringing just as she got her heart rate up would be a disappointment to Kathy Griffin.

"Bones" fans, I think we owe John Francis Daley's Sweets an apology.
After all, when Sweets used Booth's brain scans to talk him out of telling Brennan he loved her in the fifth season premiere, some fans were understandably upset.
However, considering how badly Booth's declaration of love went over in the 100th episode, it seems Sweets had the right idea all along.
Um, our bad.
Korbi TV offered an apology to John Francis Daley when we caught up with him recently, but he was more concerned about Sweets' latest error.
"I was right, but in my mind I was wrong because I wrote this book about [Booth and Brennan] that ends up being totally inaccurate," Daley explains in the clip below. "No fact-checking. At least [Sweets] didn't get [the book] published. That would have been awkward."
Now that Sweets does have more information about Booth and Brennan's past, might he try and write another...

Paging Gordon Gordon Wyatt: Booth needs you!
After his romantic advances were rebuffed by Brennan in the 100th episode of "Bones," Booth could really use a friend to give some impartial advice. And who better than his former shrink turned chef?
Korbi TV recently caught up with Stephen Fry (Gordon Gordon) and, though Booth didn't take Gg's past advice regarding Brennan, we still asked him what kind of counsel he'd dispense to Booth now.
"There's a very good phrase that they use in London markets sometimes when someone is losing their temper or whatever," Fry tells us in the video below. "They go, 'Okay, love, have a word with yourself.' That's what I'd say to him. 'Booth, darling, have a word with yourself.' Because like all good psychiatrists, [Gordon Gordon] knows that every single person you speak to -- unless they are severely mentally unwell, which is of course a...

"Bones" fans, as the 100th episode proved, we haven't exactly been privy to as much of Booth and Brennan's relationship as we might've originally thought.
Now that we know Booth and Brennan shared their first kiss during their initial case together, the question became, when did the writers know that very important fact?
Korbi TV recently caught up with "Bones" creator Hart Hanson and executive producer Stephen Nathan and their answer to that question might surprise some of you.
"Oh, we knew in the pilot that there had been something," Hanson says in the clip below. "Because you don't hate someone that much just because they don't work well with you. Don't you think?"
"It's a five year nefarious plan," Nathan adds. "And I think it's been well-hid."
And then they start laughing.
Think they're pulling our leg?
Maybe they only decided on it this season?
Who knows.
