Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have returned with “Frogs,” the second single from their upcoming album Wild God.
With rich, psychedelic instrumentation and Nick Cave’s signature booming tenor, “Frogs” is a passionate, climactic turn from the group. Helping raise the stakes is an extensive orchestra, which echo Cave’s consuming messages with fanfare and melodrama. Cave begins with a biblical reference to Cain and Abel, and later escalates to a freeing, revelatory high. “The frogs are jumping in the gutters/ Leaping to God, amazed of love,” he sings before crying “Amazed to be back in the water again.”
Of the song, Cave said in a statement, “The sheer exuberance of a song like ‘Frogs,’ it just puts a big fucking smile on my face.” Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis, “Frogs” follows Wild God’s title track, which we named as Song of the Week upon its release in early March.

The Endless have assembled!
Netflix has shared a brief teaser for the second season of The Sandman, reintroducing the members of The Endless we met during season 1, Dream, Death, Desire and Despair, while providing our first glimpse of Morpheus' remaining siblings, Destiny, Delirium, and "The Prodigal."
Esmé Creed-Miles will play the youngest of the Endless, Delirium, while Adrian Lester will take on the role of the all-seeing Destiny, and Barry Sloane will play The Prodigal.
Anyone who has read Neil Gaiman's comic series will know who this really is, and while it wouldn't seem like much of a spoiler to reveal the name, it's clearly something the show is choosing to keep under wraps for the time being.

Wake up, fans of “The Sandman,” we’ve got some Season 2 news for you: The Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s epic graphic novel series has cast the final three siblings in the “Endless Family” of Tom Sturridge’s Dream — Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”
In “The Sandman” comic book series, The Prodigal is the estranged Endless sibling named Destruction, but Netflix has taken care to label Sloane’s role as “The Prodigal,” which is the way the character is referred to throughout the first volumes of the story. The three new castings point to “The Sandman” Season 2 covering the graphic novel’s iconic installment, “Season of Mists.”
The trio of new “The Sandman” Season 2 actors will join the Endless siblings returning from Season 1: Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

Not long after their 2022 wedding, Trev Lukather (son of Toto guitarist Steve Lukather) and Madison Cain-Lukather (daughter of Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain) were playing some vintage tunes on a road trip. They came across Journey’s 1986 song “It Could Have Been You,” which neither of them had ever heard. “We were just blown away,” Trev Lukather tells Rolling Stone. “I loved the funkiness of it, and Steve Perry’s vocals were just insane. We kept playing that song on repeat.”

Micheal Winnick though realises that he has a strong cast that can deliver in every area and one hell of a sharp vibrant and sexy aesthetic.

This film can’t decide if it’s an action thriller or a steamy character study, as a soldier with an enhanced-abilities chip chats up a woman in a bar
John Wick has probably created unrealistic expectations for the adrenaline levels to be encountered in luxury hospitality venues, and this low-budget super-soldier thriller, largely narrated over cocktails in a swanky hotel lobby, follows firmly in its gold-card wake. But the generic and strangely pointless tech conspiracy on offer here supplies as memorable an experience as a branch of the average Hilton. And despite its attempts to juice up its cyborg setup with some old-fashioned body heat, Dark Asset ends up more smarmy than sexy.
Former special forces soldier (Byron Mann) is fitted out with a cybernetic enhancement chip and a John Doe moniker, the latest recruit in an experimental programme. Once the chip has been activated by boffin Dr Cain,...

Note: This post features major spoilers for “Beef.”
The Season 1 finale of Netflix’s “Beef” is explosive in every sense of the word, but concludes on a comforting moment of connection between Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yuen) as Amy shows her unconditional support for Danny as he recovers in the hospital after being shot by Amy’s husband, George (Joseph Lee). Though it’s unclear what terms their relationship will continue on, Danny’s subtle caress as Amy lays on his recovery bed signals their deep bond will persevere.
Of course, the mind can’t help but wander to a potential romantic entanglement between the pair — a development that would leave Paul (Young Mazino) with an “even bigger chip on his shoulder” and might prompt a new revenge spiral should the dramedy score a renewal for a second season.

Donnie Yen said he and John Wick: Chapter 4 director Chad Stahelski made an effort to steer clear of Chinese stereotypes, starting with changing his character’s “generic” name.
The Hong Kong actor makes his John Wick debut in the franchise’s fourth film – debuting in cinemas on 27 May – as assassin Caine, an old friend of Keanu Reeves’s legendary titular hitman.
However, according to Yen, Caine wasn’t his character’s original name.
“The name was Shang or Chang,” the actor told GQ in a recent interview. “Why does he always have to be called Shang or Chang? Why can’t he have a normal name? Why do you have to be so generic?”
He then brought up his character’s stereotypical “wardrobe” of “mandarin collars”, asking: “Why is everything so generic?”

Legal battles, failed “coup” attempts, Mar-a-Lago banquets, $104,000 in jewelry and clothes, off-duty police officers guarding the dressing rooms every night, and more — this is the world Journey’s been living in for the past few years, according to a comprehensive overview of the band’s ongoing drama published by Billboard.
At the center of the story are the band’s two remaining classic members, guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain. In 2020, the two consolidated their control over the band after suing then-bassist Ross Valory (an original member since 1973) and then-drummer Steve Smith, who joined the group in the late ‘70s and can be heard on their signature hit, “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Claiming the two were plotting a “coup” to seize control of the band, the lawsuit ultimately resulted in settlements, as well as Valory and Smith’s departures.

This has resulted in the use of music alongside campaigns, speeches and social media videos. Many try to choose a track that makes them relatable, or worse, cool.
As you can imagine, when an artist disagrees with the politics of the person who has used their music, things can get a little ugly.

When talking to the creators behind Netflix’s The Sandman series, there is one recurring pattern. They are all huge fans of the original comics, and when you ask how they came across those comics, the story is almost always the same.
“I think I was in a comic shop in Preston and I think I was buying Swamp Thing or Hellblazer, one of the two. At that point, all the covers were being done by very similar artists, so they were all kept in the same place in the comic shop. So I bought issue one. I bought it on a whim and that was it really,” says Adam Coglan, Previs Supervisor on The Sandman and Senior Visualization Supervisor of Proof Inc.
It’s a familiar story. Talk to that generation of Sandman fans and you will find yourself talking to someone who discovered the series, not through marketing or pre-release hype,...

Journey have existed in one form or another for nearly 50 years, with members Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain leading the arena rock group through various iterations over the decades. Though the band is nearly as (in)famous for their squabbles and legal battles as their many, many classic rock radio and karaoke staples.
Good news: Steve Perry, the golden throat heard on “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It” and “Wheel in the Sky,” among many others, is ready to reunite with his old band. Bad news: It...

In its original 75-issue run from 1989-1996, the DC Comics series The Sandman weaved a massive story about the return and downfall of Morpheus the Dream Lord. Written by Neil Gaiman, with pencils by legends such as Charles Vess and Sam Keith, The Sandman often functioned like an anthology series, focusing on the various characters who interacted with Dream and his family, whether they be a house cat who remembers a world of rodent-sized humans or William Shakespeare himself.
The upcoming Netflix series — developed by Gaiman, Batman Begins screenwriter David S. Goyer, and Young Avengers creator Allan Heinberg — seems to follow the same approach. As confirmed at the Sdcc Sandman panel, each of the 10 episodes in season one will tell a different story from the Sandman universe.

Friends, we’re happy to report the first full trailer for Netflix’s upcoming “The Sandman” has dropped as part of the show’s San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel presentation in Hall H — and you can watch it here, right now. Or below:
Those at the panel got even more footage, in the form of three exclusive clips. The presentation opened with a short clip from later in the season, featuring a very, very accurate portrayal of the moment late in “Preludes and Nocturnes” when John Dee enters the diner. He chats with the waitress and explains to her the power of his Ruby. She doesn’t believe him, but comics readers know he is about to destroy her, and every other poor bastard in that diner.
Later in the panel, fans were treated to a clip from episode 3. In the footage — from the episode titled “Dream a Little Dream of...

After decades of developmental back and forth, the screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's iconic comic-book series "The Sandman" is finally arriving on Netflix on Aug. 5. Netflix is developing a miniseries based on John Steinbeck’s massive 700-page novel “East of Eden,” as reported on Tuesday. Florence Pugh is the first cast member announced, though it is unclear who she’ll be playing. (Will a modern spin change the story—a California tale loosely based on the Biblical trope of Cain and Abel—into the story of two sisters? Crazier things have happened!)
The most exciting news, however, is how this production is “keeping it in the family,” so to speak. Zoe Kazan has been announced as writer and executive producer. Her grandfather, the legendary Elia Kazan, directed the 1955 adaptation starring James Dean, Raymond Massey, Julie Harris, Burl Ives, and Jo Van Fleet, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Kazan was nominated for Best Director, Paul Osborn was nominated for Best Screenplay, and Dean was nominated for Best Actor, posthumously.

“mother!” begins as a slow burn and builds toward a furious blaze. Awash in both religious and contemporary political imagery, Darren Aronofsky’s allusive film opens itself to a number of allegorical readings, but it also works as a straight-ahead head rush. Not just another baroquely orchestrated big-screen freak-out in the vein of “Black Swan” (though it is very much that), the film touches on themes that — if too hazily figurative to be in any way autobiographical — at least tread on factors in the director’s own life.
Come for the house that bleeds; stay for the reflections on parenthood and the difficulty of living with fame.
The film is divided into two parts that roughly parallel one another for reasons that eventually make themselves clear. Both follow married couple Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, who go unnamed as a way of telegraphing that they’re meant to represent Bigger Things.
