Sunrise Radio, the number one Asian radio station in London, celebrated its 25th anniversary in the lavish Terrace Pavilion at the prestigious House of Commons on Tuesday 18th November, overlooking the River Thames. The event marked a quarter century of Sunrise Radio’s influence and impact on the Asian community in Britain, and also provided a platform to launch The Sunrise Training Academy, a free training scheme for those wanting to pursue a career in radio.
Hosted by Priti Patel MP and Virendra Sharma MP, the celebration was attended by dignitaries, business leaders and celebrities like Keith Vaz MP, Lord Popat, Stephen Hammond MP, Vikas Magoon, CEO Veetee, Kuljinder Bahia of Southall Travel, Lebara Chairman Ratheesh Yoganathan and Jay Sean, with live entertainment from Navin Kundra and H Dhami.

Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha attended a press conference in London on Monday to talk about the upcoming World Kabaddi League and the United Singhs team. The 27 year old actress co-owns the United Singhs along with The Hayre Group in the UK, who will be playing in the inaugural games at London’s O2 arena, which takes place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August 2014. Shreya Ghosal was bestowed one of the highest honours today in London, by elected Members of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons, the home of UK politics and centuries of democratic tradition. Shreya’s supreme talent, singing ability and services to Indian music were praised, in the presence of a select audience. Bollyspice was there to capture the special moment.
Shreya was accompanied by her father, a scientist and engineer, who was instrumental in nurturing her talent. She was hosted by Labour MP Virendra Sharma of Ealing Southall, who is of Indian origin. Labour MP for Brent North Barry Gardiner, who has met Shreya and her father before. Labour MP Jon Ashworth of Leicester South, which is home to one of Britain’s largest asian communities and where Shreya will also be performing.
