Party Hard Die Young debuted on the Shudder streaming service in the Summer of 2019. Now, this slasher feature is moving to DVD, through Rlj Entertainment. In the story, friends gather for a graduation party. Once on a remote island, the party ends quickly and the ferries stop to the mainland. People are disappearing and a masked figure, is stalking the remaining revelers. From director Dominik Hartl (Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies), Party Hard Die Young stars: Marlon Boess ("Murder by the Lake"), Markus Freistätter (Secret in the Mountains) and Karin Lomot. A preview of the film's DVD launch is available now. Party Hard Die Young is a German language feature. Shot in Austria and Croatia, this title is very much a European feature. This title has already debuted in several European countries as far back as 2018. This April, slasher film fans - in the U.S. - will find the film in most DVD marketplaces.

U.S. distribution deals for German films are of great strategic value for international rollouts, but lucrative prospects largely depend on the type of film on offer.
The spectrum of German film continues to broaden, encompassing everything from arthouse, historical drama and family entertainment to animation, action and horror – not to mention English-language German productions.
“With German-language dramas that do well at festivals and gain some prestige, you do have high chances of finding a passionate U.S. indie distributor who will release your film in limited cinemas in New York, L.A., Chicago and other major U.S. cities,” says Moritz Hemminger, deputy head of sales and acquisitions at Arri Media.
“Economically, the U.S., for those kind of films, isn’t always the most financially lucrative market, but a sale there helps for the international sales strategy, as a U.S. distribution deal can trigger international sales in other territories,...

Germany’s leading sales companies have descended on the American Film Market with a wide range of titles that span horror and historical fare to arthouse, animation and family pics.
Supernatural thrillers look to be especially prevalent this year, with such chilling titles as “The Sonata,” “Hanna’s Homecoming” and “Party Hard, Die Young” — all from Arri Media Intl.
Directed by Andrew Desmond and starring Freya Tingley, Simon Abkarian and Rutger Hauer, “The Sonata” follows a young violinist who inadvertently triggers dark forces after discovering a mysterious music score composed by her late father. The film world premiered at Afm.
Esther Bialas’ “Hanna’s Homecoming,” likewise having its market premiere, centers on a teen girl who is shunned in her village because her mother was widely believed to be a witch and responsible for the deaths of several men. The pic premiered in October at the Hof Film Festival.

Attack Of The Lederhosen Zombies. Do I have your attention? Of course I do! Lederhosen zombies! Yes, from the Alps of Tyrol, Austria comes a horror comedy that dashes Out Cold snowboarding humor into a Romero zombie stew. Humor meets ski-village infestation, and gore meets a white, snowy backdrop in need of some red coloring. Does sophomore filmmaker Dominik Hartl create a legendary zombie epic in the process? Not quite, but that doesn’t mean ski-bums and Z-nation worshipers alike won’t have a wintry hellscape worth a few chuckles and winces. Go ahead and punch your lift ticket – the ride’s a bumpy one, but still worth the price of admission.
It all starts with a hopeful vacation destination, an investor and a glowing green serum that – when blown through fans – produces perfect man-made snow. Assumed owner Franz (Karl Fischer) is trying to unload his Alps resort, but ends...

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Level 33 Entertainment. Director: Dominik Hartl. Writers: Armin Prediger and Dominik Hartl. Cast: Laurie Calvert, Gabriela Marcinková and Oscar Dyekjær Giese. Few horror films emerge from the cold climes of Austria. There has been Dead in 3 Days (2006), but there has never been a zombie film, until now! In Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies, Domink Hartl has looked to films from the past, including Dead Alive (1992) and Shaun of the Dead (2004), to create a comedic outing. Attack of the Lederhosen, which could have been easily named Snowboarders vs. Zombies, pits several sports enthusiasts against a growing zombie horde. The blood and comedy skits fly about. Some of the material sticks, while a bit more misses its mark. The film, at seventy-two minutes, was originally set to be a student film, but it has been extended here. The film comes across as slightly long,...

Two hot TV projects, an environmental zombie and an unhinged park ranger were among highlights at the eighth edition of the horror market.
Frontières International Co-Production Market continued to showcase its growth at Fantasia International Film Festival as it kicked off its eighth edition on Thursday [July 21].
Earlier this year, the genre market announced a new partnership with the Marché du Film at Cannes, and the popularity of its pitching session at Fantasia meant that it moved to the festival’s bigger venue to accommodate the growing industry interest.
This edition’s 20 projects also saw the market’s remit expand to include two television projects for the first time.
House Of Psychotic Women from Rook Films, behind the likes of Ben Wheatley’s Sightseers and Peter Strickland’s The Duke Of Burgundy, is based on horror critic Kier-La Janisse’s acclaimed memoir.
