The annual event effectively packs three festivals into one, with three weekends of totally different lineups scheduled for June 20 through 22, June 27 through 29, and July 4 through 6.

When Freddy Wexler was a kid growing up in New York City in the Nineties, there was no artist he loved more than Billy Joel. The 37-year-old singer-producer — who has has written songs for everyone from Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande to Kanye West and Celine Dion — used to sit in his bedroom, put on The Stranger, Turnstiles, or River of Dreams, and dream. “I would imagine it was me performing,” Wexler tells Rolling Stone via Zoom from his house in L.A. “I wanted to be Billy Joel.”

The recently announced Summer of ’99 Cruise, featuring the first performances from Creed in more than a decade, sold out in record time. That has led to the announcement of a second Creed-headlined cruise, dubbed Summer of ’99 and Beyond, setting sail just five days after the first cruise wraps up.
Like the first cruise, the second one will feature a number of Creed’s contemporaries, with very special guest Daughtry and acts such as Buckcherry, Tonic, Vertical Horizon, Fuel, The Verve Pipe, Tantric, Louise Post (of Veruca Salt), Nine Days, and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack.
Summer of ’99 and Beyond will depart from Port Canaveral near Orlando, and travel to Nassau, Bahamas, aboard the Norwegian Jade. The trip will run from April 27th through May 1st, 2024. Fans can sign up now at the cruise’s official website to become eligible for a pre-sale that begins Friday (September 8th).

It’s summertime, but don’t tell that to Mark Tremonti. The Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist has announced his first-ever holiday album, titled Christmas Classics New & Old.
The new release sees Tremonti singing and performing nine holiday classics and one original song. For the LP, Tremonti teamed up with the same orchestra that played on his recent Frank Sinatra covers album. Christmas Classics New & Old arrives October 27th, and is now available for pre-order here.
As for some of the holiday classics, Tremonti puts his own spin on traditional songs such as “Jingle Bells,” “The First Noel,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “O Holy Night” and more. His original holiday song is called “Christmas Morning” and features piano and a marching band.
In other news, Creed recently announced a reunion for their first shows in more than a decade. The performances will take place on the Summer of ’99 Cruise,...

Buckcherry have shared the music video for their cover of Bryan Adams’ classic hit “Summer of ’69.”
Singer Josh Todd and company treat the anthemic rock song with proper reverence, sticking to the core arrangement and general presentation of the original. However, the band adds a harder, more glam-metal edge, upping the tempo and overall energy of the performance.
The video for the track mostly features live footage and vignettes of Buckcherry, giving potential concertgoers a sense of what to expect if they catch the band on its ongoing tour. The US outing continues tonight (July 25th) in Leesburg, Virginia, and runs through the end of August. From there, Buckcherry will team up with Skid Row for a lengthy co-headlining trek that will extend into mid-December. Get tickets here.
The release of “Summer of ’69” as a single comes just days after the announcement of the Summer of ’99 Cruise, featuring a reunited Creed as headliners.

Today rounds out the unofficial teen angst week here on Pajiba After Dark so because this is a television column tonight I want to know what you were watching when you were younger. Did you have a favorite show or was it more whatever was on in the background as you talked on the phone? (Side note: I am appalled when I think back on how much time I spent on the phone as a teenager. I hate talking on the phone now and will go to great lengths to avoid it if at all possible.) I'm a little too young to have hit some of the more popular teen dramas like "My So Called Life" but I do remember watching "Popular", "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" out of misplaced affection for "Clarissa Explains It All" and, obviously, "Daria." I still miss "Daria" but I don't want to get the DVDs...

It must have occurred to the staffs of many of the late night shows that the summer is nearly over, which is probably why so many vacations are cropping up. "The Late Show with David Letterman" is on hiatus for two weeks, while "The Tonight Show" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" will both be taking next week off. Still, despite the disappearances, there remain a handful of shouldn't-miss guests who will be talking, joking and performing well past your bed time this week.
For example, "The Tonight Show" features the most eclectic cross-section of musical performers that show has seen all year, featuring Mike Posner (Monday, August 9), Meat Loaf (Tuesday, August 10), Los Lobos (Wednesday, August 11), the Whigs (Thursday, August 12) and Alejandro Escovedo (Friday, August 13). Host Jay Leno will also talk to "America's Got Talent" judge Howie Mandel (Monday), "Twilight" and "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World" star Anna Kendrick...
