Jacques Hébert was a journalist, writer, founder or cofounder of 2 publishing houses in Canada 'Les Éditions de l'homme' and 'Les Éditions du Jour'. He was also cofounder of the Canadian "Ligue des droits de l'homme" with his friend 'Pierre Elliott Trudeau'. He founded in 1971 'Canada World Youth' and in 1977 'Katimavik' the Canadian youth volunteer program. He was a senator of Canada from 1983 to 1998.
