The 49th Chaplin Gala took place on Monday, April 19 at Alice Tully Hall, honoring award recipient Jeff Bridges. From presenters Sharon Stone, Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, and Rosie Perez, to special guests including Sarah Paulson and Kieran Culkin, the carpet was buzzing for Film at Lincoln Center’s annual gala.
We caught up with Marielle Heller on the carpet, whose long-awaited “Nightbitch,” based on Rachel Yoder’s fall 2021 debut novel of the same name, will finally release December 6, 2024. “The truth is, it got delayed because of the strike, which is fine, we needed to strike,” Heller told IndieWire.
“It was an important thing, but it’s hard to wait. It’s hard to be done with a movie and not have it come out,” Heller continued. “I don’t think I’m supposed to say something like this, but it’s kind of like having creative blue balls. We want...

(Left) Julia Roberts; (Right) Cate Blanchett and Natasha Lyonne all attend the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards.
This week marked a seismic shift in awards season in Hollywood, as key events like the AFI Awards Luncheon and the BAFTA Tea Party shifted away from Golden Globes weekend and onto the one now owned by the Critics Choice Awards. Beautiful and talented people were everywhere, cool new streaming films and shows premiered and it rained like we needed Noah’s Ark here in Southern California. The Sundance Film Festival opened, too, sending everyone who has an independent film into the Wasatch Mountains (more on that next week).

Washington, Sep 19: Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges reportedly gave a lax approach on infidelity saying "go ahead and do it and we'll see how that goes".
In a recent interview with GQ magazine, the 63-year old son of Lloyd Bridges, who has been married to Susan Geston for the last 36 years and has never divorced, said that "suppression can kind of get you into trouble, too", the Huffington Post reported.
Bridges suggested that denying that desire can have detrimental effects on a relationship, just as much as cheating can, and then went on to talk about the "difference between suppression and refraining".

The Dude abides, and so does Jeff Bridges. The 63-year-old seems to have led a pretty happy life, and has remained married to one woman for 36 years. Those are no small feats for a successful working actor, but the advice Bridges has for people hoping for similar successes is somewhat surprising.
In an interview with GQ, Bridges discusses some of the keys to strong relationships he's learned from being married to Susan Geston. When the subject of infidelity is brought up, he advises, "Well, live and learn. Go ahead and do it, and we'll see how that goes."
Seriously? That's his advice? Apparently, it absolutely is.
"Suppression can kind of get you into trouble, too. I was reading an interesting thing -- this kind of goes with the meditation and the spiritual side of things that I'm interested in. The difference between suppression and refraining. When you touch something hot,...

Jeff Bridges embraces "The Dude" -- a.k.a. Jeffrey Lebowski -- his character from the cult classic, "The Big Lebowski." In fact, the actor identifies with the character so much that he told Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday night he insists his grandkids call him "Dude-pa." The only problem: His 2-year-old granddaughter Gracie can't quite pronounce the full thing, so she calls him "Doody." Not that Bridges is too offended by that. He's an eternal optimist. His wife, Susan Geston, goes more simply by "Noni." That one is hard to turn into a feces reference. See video: Jimmy...

Oscar winner Jeff Bridges is 63 today!
Bridges was born in Los Angeles to his show business parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges, and his acting older brother, Beau Bridges. It wasn’t long before Jeff Bridges got into the family business, as he made his first uncredited big screen appearance in "The Company She Keeps," before the age of one. He continued his interest in acting throughout childhood, and went on to appear in several episodes of his father's television shows, "Sea Hunt," and "The Lloyd Bridges Show."
After graduating from high school, Jeff enrolled in the United States Coast Guard reserves and served for eight years while pursuing his career. His big break came in 1971, when he starred in the critically acclaimed film, "The Last Picture Show." The film thrust the 20-something onto the public stage, and gained him his first Academy Award nomination.

Jeff Bridges misses his wife while he's making movies - because she refuses to visit his "tense" film sets.
The actor tied the knot with Susan Geston in 1977, but admits his partner is less than enthusiastic about his line of work after more than 30 years of marriage.
He tells Nylon Guys magazine, "I prefer the world coming at me a little slower... I can do a lot of stuff besides making movies and making music.
"The toughest thing is being away from my wife. She doesn't like to visit movie sets. As wonderful as it is, it's just a little tense, man."...

Jeff Bridges is cinematic giant known as much for his laid-back attitude as his screen roles. Now he is up for an Oscar in a reprise of the True Grit role made famous by John Wayne
At a recent soiree in the rarefied surrounds of the Paley Centre in Beverly Hills, Jeff Bridges attended an unusual movie premiere. Instead of a film featuring him playing a big role, the movie was about his life.
As part of PBS's American Masters series, the star-struck crowd at Paley watched an 82-minute documentary detailing Bridges's escapades in Hollywood. Afterwards he indulged in a Q&A with the crowd. The experience, he said, had been just like watching a "giant home movie".
So it should be. For Bridges, who grew up next to Beverly Hills, has spent most of his life in the Hollywood system. He was born into a showbusiness family, had his...

The Dude would abide this: Jeff Bridges breaks out the party after every film he wraps.
Long known as a party guy, the 'True Grit' star has mellowed as he's aged. But that doesn't stop him from celebrating when he puts in his hard work.
"I have a cycle that is not particularly cool, but it's a cycle: trash myself to reward myself," he told The Hollywood Reporter in a new cover article. "When I've done a good job, I've worked my ass off in a movie and been very disciplined, then to reward myself I'll take that governor off and say: 'Go ahead and do what you want, man. You want to get drunk? You do whatever you want.'"
Hey, 'True Grit' is number one at the box office -- he's earned it.
Complicating that a bit, though, is his wife of 33 years, Susan Geston,...

Jeff Bridges finds marriage gets better with time. The 61-year-old actor thought his union with Susan Geston, who he wed in 1977, would grow less passionate as they got older and was pleasantly surprised to find their difficulties have only made them stronger. He said, "What I didn't count on with this whole marriage thing was that the passion, the sparks - it gets better!"
"I was thinking it was going to go the other way, but it gets cooler and hotter all at the same time. I think one of the things about staying married is just not getting a divorce. To go through some of those difficult times and stay together, you've got to expand your concept of love. If you've been married a long time, you're going to get tested."
However, the "Tron Legacy" star did admit the marriage may involve more perseverance from his wife than from...

Columbia Pictures created an atmosphere of virtual world at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood as they held the Los Angeles premiere of "Tron Legacy" there on Saturday, December 11. Supporting the glamorous event was Garrett Hedlund who previously missed the U.K. premiere.
Gushing about watching the film for the first time, he shared, "I saw it couple weeks ago when I was in Montreal, but only with a couple pals and on a smaller Technicolor screen. But even then it was an incredible experience. It's such a high-tech adventure." He added, "It's undoubtedly like anything I've ever seen before, and I think the loss for words on it is the best part of it and I can't wait to see it again."
Hedlund suited up that night, joining Olivia Wilde who looked stunning in a gold sequin dress. Jeff Bridges also opted a formal outfit to attend the premiere,...
