Jenna Ortega shared her first statement on the death of Lisa Loring. "Absolutely devastated," Ortega wrote in an Instagram Story shared Jan. 31, according to Newsweek. Ortega recently had her breakout as the titular character in Netflix's "Wednesday" series, but Loring was the first to portray the brooding character in the original '60s sitcom. "Thank you for everything," Ortega added, alongside a photo of Loring as Wednesday in her youth.
Loring died of a stroke at 64 years old on Jan. 28. Her daughter, Vanessa Foumberg, told Variety, "She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands." In addition to being the original Wednesday, Loring also appeared in a few other series including "As the World Turns." Her last screen appearance was in the horror comedy "Doctor Spine" in 2015.

UTA Emmys Party, Sept. 9
This year’s Emmy host, Kenan Thompson, led UTA’s pre-Emmy bash on Friday night at the Rooftop at Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. Intermittent rain made it a bit of a wet affair — and the evening humidity was not kind to attendees wearing suit jackets. But the rooftop afforded magnificent views (and the occasional lightning in the sky) for guests as they enjoyed lobster sliders, spicy tuna on crispy rice and churros with dipping sauce. Spotted on the roof were UTA founding partner Peter Benedek, HBO/HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier, producer Mark Johnson, Showtime entertainment president Jana Winograde. Among stars in the house: Emmy-nominated “Insecure” exec producer and star Issa Rae; Emmy nominee Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”); “Better Call Saul” stars Michael Mando and the Emmy-nominated Rhea Seehorn; “Succession” Emmy nominee Sarah Snook; “The Afterparty” star Sam Richardson,...

It was written in the stars for Melanie Lynskey to find massive success.
The “Candy” actress detailed to InStyle that a palm reader predicted Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” would draw unprecedented fame and critical acclaim for Lynskey’s career.
“This sounds so crazy, but I talked to a psychic, who I love, and she told me this was going happen,” Lynskey explained of the encounter prior to her Emmy nomination. “It had been months and months since we shot the [‘Yellowjackets’] pilot, and she said, ‘That show’s going to get picked up and it’s going to be really big, and you’re going to enter into a time in your career that you thought, if this didn’t happen when you were 25, it was never going to happen. It’s about to happen.'”
Lynskey, though, was hesitant to believe it.

After its November 14 premiere, Yellowjackets captivated an audience for 10 weeks with its blend of horror, drama and possible supernatural mystery. The series has became the second-most streamed series on the Showtime platform.
That makes it a perfect candidate to launch It Starts On the Page, Deadline’s annual series that highlights the scripts that serve as the creative backbones of the buzzy shows that will define the now-underway TV awards season. The scripts in our series are all being submitted for Emmy Awards consideration this year and have been selected by Deadline using criteria that includes critical acclaim, selecting from a wide range of networks and platforms, and a mix of established and lesser-known shows.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson created Yellowjackets, about four women involved in a 1996 plane crash when they were teenagers. The series switches between their lives during the crash and 25 years later, as they try to...

I'm pleased to share that I have returned for a second appearance on Murtada's fun podcast "Sundays with Cate" in which he's surveying Cate Blanchett's whole career (not chronologically) with various guests. This week's topic is the strange Sally Potter misfire The Man Who Cried (2001), a pre World War II drama about dancing Russians, singing Jews, and operatic Italians in Paris. I requested this one because I remembered being absolutely bewitched by one closeup in particular when the film was in theaters. But the film had become so entirely forgotten (even by me) that I could barely remember anything of the context. The film stars Johnny Depp and Cristina Ricci (both having just co-starred in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow) placing it forever in a very specific place in Hollywood time. Give us a listen! ...
