Cicely Courtneidge was born on 1 April 1893 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She was an actress, known for Along Came Sally (1934), Things Are Looking Up (1935) and The Ghost Train (1931). She was married to Jack Hulbert. She died on 26 April 1980 in Putney, London, England, UK.- Bearded, heavy-set New Zealand-born character actor with a booming voice, who went to England to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After repertory experience, he had notable stage appearances with the National Theatre Company (of which he was a founder member) and the Mermaid Theatre, invariably in Shakespearean parts. His portrayals of Balthasar in 'Much Ado About Nothing' (1965) and Sebastian in 'The Tempest' (1970) were particularly well received. He also played Doolittle during a European tour of 'My Fair Lady'.
During the 1970's, Purchase made frequent guest appearances on such television series as I, Claudius (1976), Rumpole of the Bailey (1978), Blake's 7 (1978), and (famously larger-than-life) in the Doctor Who (1963) episode 'The Pirate Planet'. His role was that of a cybernetically-enhanced pirate captain, complete with a robotic parrot. Among other notable TV performances were his Duke of Buckingham in The First Churchills (1969) and his Earl of Northumberland in the BBC production of 'Henry IV'. He continued to alternate television with appearances on the stage. During the production of 'The Last Confession' (starring David Suchet) in May 2007, Purchase, playing a cardinal, became ill and died aged 69 in June 2008. - Bobby Moore was one of the most famous English football players. From 1958 to 1971 he played for West Ham United football club. He played 108 times for the English national team, of which he was captain from 1964 to 1973. He won the World Cup with England in 1966 and was awarded an O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). Moore retired in the 1977, after six seasons with Fulham F.C. He died in 1993 due to bowel cancer. The whole country mourned for him.

Leonard Lewis, known professionally as Leonard of Mayfair or simply Leonard, was a British hairdresser. He trained under the legendary Rose Evansky, before going to work with Vidal Sassoon. Later he left to start his own House of Leonard; a five store salon. Lucy, Lady Duff Gordon, famous as "Lucile", was a top fashion designer with a clientele of royalties, socialites and entertainment celebrities. Her firm, "Lucile, Ltd," flourished from the turn of the century into the early 1920s. Lady Duff Gordon is best remembered for her work in the performing arts. She costumed the operetta "The Merry Widow" on the London stage (1907), the "Ziegfeld Follies" revues (1915-1921) on Broadway, and such early silent films as "The Perils of Pauline" (1914) and "Way Down East" (1920). As a designer, she is credited with staging the first runway shows, promoting romantic lingerie and introducing the slit skirt.
