During a meeting between Judy Garland and Burt Lancaster towards the end of the film, Ms. Garland's coat disappears as Mr. Lancaster is walking behind her. Her light-colored coat is briefly missing, revealing the dark outfit underneath.
Fourteen minutes in, the teacher asks "What time is it when the big hand is on the six and the little hand is on the twelve?" and a student answers "six o'clock" (which is incorrect), though when the camera pans to the blackboard, the big hand is on the twelve and the little hand is pointing to six (which is correct).
The narrator says that Reuben was placed in the State Mental Hospital 6 September 1959, but the automobile in which he arrives bears very visible 1962 New York license plates.
A crew member is reflected in the car window as the camera pans to show Reuben sitting in the car in the beginning of the film.
As the camera follows Jean Hansen from classroom to classroom during her first tour, a crew member is reflected in the glass doors between the classrooms.
