In 1982, Bruce Springsteen released the album Nebraska. Though he intended to record the album with the E Street Band, he ultimately did not require their backing. Instead, he released the sparse, bleak songs as he had initially recorded them in his home. Nebraska would go on to be one of Springsteen’s most highly acclaimed albums, but he said the process of making it was very lonely.
Bruce Springsteen said the process of making 1 album was lonely
By 1982, Springsteen was a bonafide rock star. Despite his success, though, he began to feel a yawning despondency within himself.
“I just hit some sort of personal wall that I didn’t even know was there,” he told CBS News. “It was my first real major depression where I realized, ‘Oh, I’ve got to do something about it.'”

Disney’s “Launchpad,” the anthology series of American independent short films will return for its third season. Submissions for the new season are now open through June 2.
“Launchpad” first started in 2021, and is a 12-month program that cultivates emerging filmmakers. Members in the program work closely with Disney creative executives to make live-action shorts to possibly premiere on Disney+. Filmmakers will also be mentored and have the opportunity to engage in a training program that teaches collaboration.
“‘Launchpad’ gave me the opportunity to really stretch myself as a director—working on stunts and collaborating with Industrial Light and Magic (Ilm) on my visual effects is something I could have only dreamed of doing before,” said Erica Eng, director of “The Ghost.” “The program works hard to set us up for success even after the program has ended, and I’m really thankful for their support as a filmmaker.”
Season 2 of “Launchpad” was released on Sept.

For the first time in nearly a century, The Atlantic magazine will publish a new play: The Ghost of Slavery by Anna Deavere Smith will debut across 32 pages of the publication’s December issue.
The play, the centerpiece of a Reconstruction-themed issue, was posted on the Atlantic’s website today.
The Ghost of Slavery is set in Baltimore and Annapolis in the 1860s and the present, and, according to a description provided by the magazine, explores the power of historical trauma to persist for generations. The magazine describes the play as “a searing drama of great emotional and historical complexity set in two time periods, the effect of which is not just to bring history vividly (and at times painfully) to life, or to make plain the injustices meted out to Black Americans across centuries, but to make readers and audiences see anew the connections between past and present.”

A common ploy in the creation of anthologies is to attempt to complete a picture by using uncompleted or unfinished work from several sources and merging them together in order to make a return on the investments. Such is the case for this amalgamation of tales, as the backstory of each segment is equally troubled as much as enjoyable. The first segment from Yuen Chor was started five years earlier as a film titled “Hellish Soul” before it got shelved and needed reshoots by Ho Meng Hua several years later as “The Ghost” before that got shelved again. Meanwhile, Mou Tun-fei's film “The Prize Fighter” was eventually halted midway through production and turned into a short. These two shorts then form the basis for this solid Shaw Brothers anthology.

Joshua Williamson has had his hands in just about every big DC story for the last five years. One of the longest-tenured Flash writers ever, Williamson has by necessity been in the middle of every time the DC multiverse tried to burst back into canon over the last five years. After all, you can’t have a Crisis without a Flash beat or three.
But now, Williamson is getting the keys to the bus. Infinite Frontier #0 kicks off the post-Metal, post-Future State new status quo for the DC Universe in March. That status quo builds off of DC’s new multiversal mantra: everything happened and anything is possible. We had a chance to talk with him about what that means on both ends – what the new Dcu is growing out of, and what’s coming in the future.

When it didn’t turn up as part of the Phase 4 lineup at Comic-Con this summer, it looked like Ant-Man 3 wasn’t set to happen. Last month, however, we got the surprise announcement that a third outing for Paul Rudd as Scott Lang is in the works, with director Peyton Reed returning to complete the trilogy and a likely release sometime in 2022.
In previous movies, Lang – with the help of Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne Aka Wasp and her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the original Ant-Man – has faced down such villains as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) and Ava Starr/The Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Don Knotts came to fame with his trademark comedy style of portraying a meek, excessively nervous character. He was Woody Allen before Woody Allen was Woody Allen. Knotts honed his skills on Steve Allen's show in the 1950s, with his "man on the street" Nervous Nellie routine sending audiences into fits of laughter. He co-starred with fellow up-and-comer Andy Griffith in the hit Broadway production of "No Time for Sergeants" and the subsequent film version. Star Wars Rebels wrapped up earlier this year after its fourth season came to an end. The animated series carved out its own place in the Star Wars universe and turned original characters like Ezra, Hera and Kanan into fan favorites. At an early stage of development, however, the show could have hued a lot closer to the Original Trilogy.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, showrunner Dave Filoni explained that the production team initially discussed having the crew of The Ghost set about going after the plans for the Death Star, in order to tie into A New Hope. However, when Rogue One came out and covered the same area, Filoni decided that he wanted Rebels to tell its own complete story and not just be one piece in a bigger jigsaw puzzle.
“There were some really early on conversations with Rebels about it being it about them finding the Death Star plans.

Star Wars Rebels did an impressive job of telling its own story focusing on unofficial Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger and the crew of The Ghost and fitting it into the larger framework of the Star Wars saga. As it took place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, fans expected the fourth and final season to tee up directly with the beginning of the Original Trilogy. As it happened, though, the series finale ended things before the events of those films.
While speaking to CinemaBlend, showrunner Dave Filoni explained why he decided to keep Rebels separate. The challenge, it seems, was in giving Ezra his own hero’s journey but making sure that it stood apart from Luke Skywalker’s own fight against the Empire. This meant that Filoni and his writers had to continually plan ahead and make sure they were telling a unique story that didn...

Chicago – Gag writers, it’s time to head to Marvel Studios. Apparently the direction their superhero franchises are going for is laughs. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is a prime example… the second film in the “Ant-Man” series amps up the humor, priming a hero that can go super small or massive. Go ask Alice, I think she’ll know.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Paul Rudd returns as the Ant-Man, and his sardonic air fits the hero like his tight costume. It’s a bit of an extension of an origin story, as Antie is involved in with his creator Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Pym’s experiments into the sub atomic realm. It’s not as good as the first film, only to the degree that it repeats a lot of its rhythms. And the surprise of Antie being able to go small and go massive has already been established, and what they...

Marvel has released a ton of new Ant-Man and The Wasp marketing material! We've got a new poster that features the two main characters shrunken down and heroically walking on the floor of, what I assume is a movie theater. The poster was released by Fandango, it will be given to fans who buy their Ant-Man and The Wasp movie tickets from them.
I also posted a new TV spot for the film that offers a bit of information that confirms exactly when the movie takes place in the Marvel Cinematic timeline. I also included a bunch of new behind-the-scenes photos from the film showing the cast and crew working on the movie.

The McU is big on superhero teams, but the franchise hasn’t given us too many dynamic duos over the years. That’ll change with the next Marvel movie, though, when Ant-Man and the Wasp sees Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne finally suit up and fight crime alongside Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang.
Speaking of which, this new promo showcases more of both of the inch-high heroes in action, mostly using footage we’ve already seen, such as a glimpse of Ant-Man involved in a car chase and Wasp beating up thugs in a kitchen. It does give us a little more from The Ghost, though, the mysterious costumed villain played by Hannah John-Kamen who will endeavor to steal Hank Pym’s (Michael Douglas) tech. It looks like her phasing abilities will come in handy when she’s making a quick getaway and combined with the two heroes’ shrinking/growing powers,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might have shaken things up with “Avengers: Infinity War,” but we won’t know how the Thanos situation shakes out until “Avengers 4” comes out next year. Meanwhile, we know that “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” hitting theaters in July, takes place both before and during “Infinity War” — unless Disney was messing with us yesterday — and probably has a big part to play in the fourth “Avengers” movie.
While the new trailer released Tuesday doesn’t give any clues as to how Ant-Man might help in the fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin), it does give a few important clues for what we can expect in the movie and elements that might be important to the overall McU storyline. Here are seven big takeaways.
If you haven’t watched the trailer yet, you can do just that right here.

1. The Quantum Realm appears to actually be a tiny universe like the comics
We knew the Quantum Realm would be a big deal in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” since in “Ant-Man,” Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) realized that it was possible to get a person back from the super-tiny place. Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), Hope’s mother and Pym’ wife, was lost in the Quantum Realm years earlier, but Scott’s return made Pym think he could return to the Quantum Realm and potentially rescue her.
The trailer shows at least two people who have traveled to the Quantum Realm in Pym’s submersible visiting the realm and actually walking around in it, making it much more similar to the Microverse of the comics than we’ve previously seen. In the Marvel Comics universe, the Microverse is pretty much just another place in the multiverse, with people living there (and supervillains trying to take over).
It seems possible the Quantum Realm of the movies could as well, and that it could play a part in the conclusion of the Thanos story being told in “Avengers 4” — although it’s not yet even remotely clear how.
Check out our spoiler-filled look into how “Ant-Man and the Wasp” could play a role in the fight against Thanos by clicking here.

2. Ant-Man encountered….something in the Quantum Realm
Later on, the trailer includes a very quick shot of Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) floating in the Quantum Realm. While he’s there, something glowy and green, apparently with wings, whips past him at a high rate of speed.
While that could potentially be Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp, who was lost in the Quantum Realm, all that glowy energy and ridiculous speed seems to suggest it might be something else. Perhaps a native of the Quantum Realm?
If the Quantum Realm ends up being important to the battle against Thanos, which seems very likely given the release of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” between “Infinity War” and “Avengers 4,” then this might be a clue as to what, or maybe more accurately who, Ant-Man found there.

3. The Ghost’s phasing stuff seems like it could be important considering the Vision situation
We don’t know too much about the Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the character who this trailer seems to present as the primary villain of “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” except that she has the capability to make herself “intangible.”
In the trailer, that means zapping her way through walls and vehicles in order to punch and kick people beyond, making her tough to fight. There could be more to that whole “intangible” thing, though, given what a big part of “Avengers: Infinity War” Vision (Paul Bettany) was. Vision’s powers include being able to “phase” through solid matter, pretty much in the same way the Ghost can.
In “Infinity War,” bad guy Corvus Glaive (Michael Shaw) used a special blade on Vision to knock out his phasing powers in their very first fight. That might have been to keep Vision from getting away with the Mind Stone — or there could have been more to it.
It seems like if there was anything that might give Thanos a run for his money, it’s somebody who has the ability to become intangible. After all, apart from his Infinity Stone capabilities, Thanos is just a really strong bruiser of a guy, more or less like the Hulk. One wonders if the powers of the Infinity Stones would even work on someone who is technically intangible; some of them might (we saw the Space Stone cause the Hulkbuster armor to drift through solid matter briefly), but maybe not all of them. That could be a weakness Ant-Man and the Wasp could exploit if they’re able to get hold of the Ghost’s capabilities.
4. Pym has apparently built multiple shrinking vehicles
After recruiting Scott as the new Ant-Man and Hope as the Wasp, it seems Pym got busy building them some new support equipment. That includes vehicles that include their own shrinking tech for use in the field.
In the past, Ant-Man was able to use his throwable Pym Discs to cause an object to shrink or grow briefly, but Pym’s vehicles look to be a lot more versatile and reliable. They also get similar benefits to Ant-Man and the Wasp when they shrink and grow, it seems, as we see when the growing Pym van flips its pursuer from underneath. Makes you wonder what other fantastic things Dr. Pym has put together over the last few years.
5. They’re still hiding whatever this movie has to do with Infinity War
Following “Avengers: Infinity War,” Marvel released a teaser ahead of the new “Ant-Man and the Wasp” asking the “Avengers” cast where Ant-Man and the Wasp were during “Infinity War.” The studio is teasing the “Ant-Man” sequel as answering that question, but we got no real new clues in the trailer at all.
We knew “Ant-Man and the Wasp” begins “in the aftermath of ‘Captain America: Civil War,'” but whatever portion of the story happens during “Infinity War” has yet to be revealed, and no real clues have been provided about what this movie has to do with the greater McU situation.
The movie’s release between “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers 4,” though, can’t be coincidental if it takes place during the battle with Thanos, though. There’s a significant reason why Ant-Man didn’t show up to fight the worst bad guy in the universe, and whatever he and the Wasp learn in their story will have to be significant to “Avengers 4.”
6. Also, still no sign of Janet Van Dyne
We know Janet van Dyne, Hope’s mother and Hank Pym’s wife, will show up in “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” thanks to casting: The role is being played by Michelle Pfeiffer. As to what role she’ll play, how Pym might get her out of the Quantum Realm, or what she might be like when she returns, though, the trailer has given us no clues.
7. Bad guys are after Hank Pym’s building
In lieu of diving into the really big questions, this trailer presents a plot that seemingly revolves around a large building that Hank Pym is able to shrink. That building seems like the place where Hank stores all his important technology stuff, which is why bad guys including Walton Goggins have stolen it in the trailer.
The original “Ant-Man” was a heist movie, and it looks like “Ant-Man and the Wasp” probably is one too, with Hank hiring Luis (Michael Pena) and his crew to assist Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (otherwise known as Hope van Dyne — played by Evangeline Lilly) in stealing it back. Which is a cool enough premise that we almost don’t even need to get into the “Infinity War”-related stuff. Almost.

Fans have just one double-length series finale to go before Star Wars Rebels comes to an end for good. The adventures of Ezra Bridger and the crew of The Ghost have entertained lovers of that galaxy far, far away for four seasons, but now, showrunner Dave Filoni has decided to call time on the series – unlike his previous show The Clone Wars, which was cruelly curtailed by the network.
But Star Wars fans shouldn’t get too down, as we have it on good authority that an exciting follow-up to Rebels will be announced in the near future. Filoni was speaking to Animation Magazine when the topic of what lies next for the franchise on television came up. Obviously, he kept things vague, but the exec producer did casually mention that news would arrive “soon.”

Few filmmakers are as polarizing as Spanish director Jesus Franco. Some hail him as a trash film king while others denigrate him as a complete hack. His overuse of the zoom lens causes some viewers to twitch while others apologize for his sometimes convoluted plots by describing them as dream-like and insisting his films are multi-layered and filled with meaning. Regardless of which side of the fence you may be on with regards to Jess Franco, most viewers praise his early genre works as artistic, gothic classics of European horror.
Long before he wallowed in softcore lesbian adventures, cheap knockoffs of genre hits, and hardcore pornography, Franco created a series of black-and-white gothic chillers which were well-received upon release, with titles such as The Awful Dr. Orlof, The Sadistic Baron Von Klaus, and Kino Lorber’s latest Franco release, The Diabolical Dr. Z.

What better way for MacGyver to ring in the new year than with several mysteries to solve? The question for more than one of the people MacGyver is looking isn’t who they are, but where they are. The biggest mystery for awhile has been the search for Mac’s father. That trail was dead for a good long while, but burned brighter than the Christmas lights when a package from the man himself appeared under Mac’s tree. During the first half of the 60’s Mario Bava created several genuine horror classics that remain high-water marks in the genre over a half century later. Films such as Black Sunday (1960), Black Sabbath (1963), The Whip and the Body (1963), and Blood and Black Lace (1964) either pushed the boundaries of horror or helped to establish cinematic tropes still used in modern horror. Always saddled with shoestring budgets and bad deals, Bava nevertheless remained optimistic in the face of his cinematic struggles. A case in point is the troubled production of Kill, Baby…Kill! which ran out of money midway through the shoot. The cast and crew were so loyal to Bava they worked for free to finish the film—a film, by the way, which only had a 30-page script with no dialogue when filming commenced. Bava had the actors make up their own lines, preferring to resolve...

The new short film “Le Fantôme” (The Ghost), created for the new Ford Edge SUV, centers around an enigmatic stranger and a couple who no longer exist.
Directed by Jake Scott and starring Mads Mikkelsen, the dramatic eight-minute movie shows the “Hannibal” actor as a hitman in pursuit of a couple starting a new life under witness protection. As he watches the pair closely and is about to attack, he gets distracted after catching a glimpse of the new Ford vehicle from afar.
“Everyday we make choices, choices that shape our lives and sometimes the lives of others,” Mikkelsen says before he breaks into the couples garage and checks out the mesmerizing car.

Before you see him on the big screen in two of the biggest blockbusters of the year, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Doctor Strange, Mads Mikkelsen has continued embracing his own brand of peculiar characters in a new short film, which also doubles as a slick ad.
Directed by Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys) and also starring Barbara Steele, Le Fantôme (aka The Ghost) is an 8-minute film done for Ford Edge which finds Mikkelsen playing an assassin who gets diverted when he happens upon a new car. If nothing else, we know he already is part of the 007 franchise, but this is a mighty fine audition for the next James Bond.
Check it out below.

This Star Wars Rebels article contains spoilers.
Star Wars Rebels tells the story of six heroes from all over the galaxy far, far away who unite to become the foundation of the Rebel Alliance. Seasons one and two focused on the story of Ezra Bridger, a Force-sensitive boy from a planet controlled by the Empire and Kanan Jarrus, the former Jedi who decides to train him as his padawan. Seasons three and four began to trace the beginning of the Rebel fleet seen in A New Hope.
Created by many of the same people behind The Clone Wars and featuring familiar Star Wars characters, such as Lando Calrissian, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and Grand Moff Tarkin, Star Wars Rebels has told many great stories on the small screen that take place between the Prequel and Original Trilogies.

While shooting a violent murder scene on a horror movie set, actor Michael (Stefano Patrizi) nearly chokes his co-star Beryl (Black Emanuelle Laura Gemser) to death in an uncontrollable rage.
Fortunately for Michael, it's his last scene before taking a break to visit his estranged mother, Glenda (genre vet Anita Strindberg), for a long weekend. The troubled thespian brings along his girlfriend, Deborah (Silvia Dionisio), to the old family mansion, a place he hasn't seen in years. They are greeted by creepy butler Oliver (John Richardson), who divulges to Michael that his mother is very ill but doesn't want him to know.

You just can’t keep a good serial killer down, especially when he only exists in our imaginations. Freddy Krueger returns once again this Friday, April 30, but this time without Robert Englund. Jackie Earle Haley slips into the scar makeup and knife-fingered glove this time around, hoping to give new life to an old favorite. Haley has already proven himself is short time to be one of this generation’s great character actors, with a knack for the dark and creepy side of the craft. In light of the new Nightmare On Elm Street film, We Are Movie Geeks has compiled our Top Ten List of the Best Creepy Character Actors.
Honorable Mention: Rondo Hatton
Of all the actors on this list, none has had a more tragic personal story as Rondo Hatton. As a young man Hatton was diagnosed with a rare pituitary disorder known as acromegalia (the studios...

Debbie Rochon, often described as a scream queen herself, wrote in an article originally published in Gc Magazine that "a true Scream Queen isn't The Perfect Woman. She's sexy, seductive, but most importantly 'attainable' to the average guy. Or so it would seem." Nastassja Kinski Films: To the Devil a Daughter (1976) [1] Cat People (1982) [2] The Day the World Ended (2001) [3] Inland Empire (2006) [4] Kinski will always be remembered for the iconic photograph shot by Richard Avedon (with a snake coiled around her body) and her role in Paul Schrader's (not so good) remake of Cat People. Needless to say, it was a hit at the box office and Kinski deservingly received a Saturn Award for Best Actress. Caroline Munro Films: The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) [5] Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972) [6] Dracula A.D. 1972 [7] Maniac (1980) [8] Faceless (1987) [9] Demons 6 (1989) [10] Caroline Munro seduced audiences in her Hammer roles in films like Dracula A.D. 1972, but for gore hounds,...

Code Red DVD just sent Fango the specs for a trio of upcoming releases set to hit retailers later this summer.
On August 18th, Code Red DVD will unleash The Strangeness. It is 1980 and the price of gold is soaring. Old timers warn would be prospectors to stay away from the Gold Spike Mine. It has stood as a ghastly reminder of the horrors of a century before when the earth violently shook and over twenty miners were killed, their bodies stripped of flesh. The residents of Basin City talked of the grisly murders only in whispers from which legends of The Strangeness grew. A small group of explorers innocently make their way to the Gold Spike. Only one knows the incredible secret of the mine, and here the nightmare begins.....!
Nightmare USA's Stephen Thrower described the film as having, "Ominous atmosphere, flashes of humour, and a truly startling monster!
