The Avengers is getting a reboot! And no, we’re not talking about the Marvel property. We’re talking about the British TV series that originally aired for six seasons back in the ’60s, running for a total of 161 episodes. Deadline reports that the new take on The Avengers TV series is coming our way from StudioCanal, which owns the rights to The Avengers catalog. Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, the writing team behind the HBO/BBC series Industry, have written the script for the pilot episode and Sex Education director Ben Taylor is on board to direct and executive produce. The Warner Bros. Discovery production company Wall to Wall is co-producing the project with StudioCanal.
Despite rumors that the Avengers reboot could end up on HBO, it’s not clear which network or streamer the new show will end up calling home. The HBO rumors have been denied.

The UK’s second most famous 1960s British spy fantasy after James Bond is finally getting its long-rumoured reboot, reports Deadline. But what are they going to call it?
Two years before Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and co. made their comic book debut as ‘The Avengers’ in 1963, a UK TV series of the same name arrived that would continue all the way through the decade, and beyond in the form of 1970s sequel The New Avengers.
The Avengers was a one-hour weekly spy adventure series created by Doctor Who co-creator Sydney Newman, and starring Patrick Macnee as secret agent John Steed, with Bond actor Honor Blackman, Dame Diana Rigg, and Linda Thorson. As one of the UK’s most fondly remembered spy series featuring two of our most recognisable-in-silhouette TV characters, there’s been talk of a revival for years.

A new remake of the classic British TV series The Avengers is in the works, with Sex Education’s Ben Taylor said to be directing.
One of the most fondly-remembered TV shows of the 1960s is getting a 21st century remake, as Deadline reports that a reboot of The Avengers is bubbling away at rights holder StudioCanal.
A pilot has reportedly already been written for the spy series revival – Mickey Down and Konrad Kay are the wordsmiths responsible – and there’s also a director attached: Ben Taylor, best known for his work on Sex Education.
The Avengers originally aired from 1961 onwards, and starred Patrick Macnee as the dapper British secret agent and wearer of bowler hats, John Steed. Actor Ian Hendry originally starred alongside Macnee when the series began, but he soon left. A succession of glamorous female side-kicks followed, played by the likes of Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson.

It’s here, the newest Netflix thriller adapted from one of Harlan Coben’s ludicrously twist-packed, secret-filled crime mystery novels. This one comes adapted by Danny Brocklehurst with the same UK team that made The Five, Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close, and once again stars Richard Armitage in a central role.
Fool Me Once is the story of military helicopter pilot Maya Stern, a captain who loses her career in a scandal and suffers two bereavements in short succession. It’s fast-paced, kind of ridiculous viewing that takes you down an extremely twisty path before tying everything up in a big not-exactly-watertight-but-it’ll-do-fine knot – which makes it pretty perfect viewing for a brain-fogged New Year’s Day after all of December’s indulgences.

Five years removed from "Avengers: Infinity War," it's easy to forget just how traumatizing Thanos' snap was for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The most tragic aspect of wiping out half of the galaxy's population with the Infinity Gauntlet was the incomprehensible randomness of that cataclysmic event. One second your loved ones are there in the flesh, only to be a pile of dust and ash in the next. No one scene encapsulated that more than the beginning of "Avengers: Endgame," when Clint Barton/Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) entire family vanishes in an instant on an otherwise idyllic summer day.

This article contains spoilers for WandaVision and the wider MCU
It’s that time of the week where we’ve had a few days to digest the latest episode of WandaVision, so it’s time to drag out our diminishing ball of red yarn and start connecting theories about what’s really going on at the core of the show’s story.
In Episode 6, ‘All-New Halloween Spooktacular!’, there were more Marvel Easter eggs than ever flying around. We also got to spend some quality time with Wanda’s new family, including Evan Peters’ integration as the MCU’s long-dead Pietro Maximoff. Hard to argue that Uncle Pete’s energy was absolutely intoxicating, but it occasionally verged on disturbing, which only served to whip up WandaVision’s fans into a finger-pointing frenzy as to the true nature of Peters’ role in the Disney+ event series.

Though the next Avengers movie has yet to be officially announced, the world-conquering success of this year’s Endgame ensures that it’s only a matter of time until Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reassemble, albeit with a notably different line-up. And to give you some idea of how the team’s next ensemble outing might look, We Got This Covered presents a new fan-made trailer for the inevitable Avengers 5, viewable above.
Of course, seeing how we’re still at least a couple of years out from the premiere of another Avengers movie, none of us can say for sure what the future holds for the heroic team. Nonetheless, we can probably assume that Stephen Strange will remain part of the gang after the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7th, 2021.

One of the greatest and most commercially successful fantasy series of the 1960s, The Avengers actually started out in 1961 as a gritty crime drama focused on Doctor Keel, played by Ian Hendry, one of British television’s biggest stars at that time. In the first episode his wife is killed by drug dealers, and a mysterious undercover agent named John Steed, played of course by Patrick Macnee, helps him to avenge her death. The two end up working together on a number of other crime cases, thus forming the basis for a series that would ultimately outgrow its noir origins and become an outrageous Technicolor riot of science fiction, martial arts, sexy fashion and comedy. Once Doctor Keel was out of the picture, the playful ‘will they? – won’t they?’ (or even ‘have they? – haven’t they?’) nature of John Steed...

Another day, another rumor. That's how it goes here on the net, and this latest one is a doozy!
There's a slate making the rounds that claims to be the current plan for Marvel Studios and their ever-expanding Cinematic Universe. While others covering the supposed plan have referred to it as Phase 4, based on the amount of movies, years, and types of films mentioned on the list I'd say this would also include Phase 5.
Here's the list, then we can cover some of the more notable aspects of this rumor:
May 1, 2020 - Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3
Jul 10, 2020 - Spider-Man: Coming Of Age
Nov 6, 2020 - Doctor Strange 2
Mar 5, 2021 - Black Widow
May 7, 2021 - Inhumans
Jul 9, 2021 - Black Panther 2
Nov 5, 2021 - Antman 3
Feb 4, 2022 - The Winter Soldier
May 6, 2022 - The New Avengers
Jul 8, 2022 - Nova
Nov 4, 2022 - Captain Marvel 2
Mar 3, 2023 - Sentry/Spider-Woman
May 5, 2023 - Inhumans 2
Jul 7, 2023- Spider-Man: Greatness Awaits
Nov 3, 2023 - Doctor Strange 3
So, let's see. I should start by saying I don't really buy this, but let's just examine it for fun.
If this is to be believed, then it would mean that Marvel Studios is going to up their annual number of releases to four. It would also mean that they've worked out a compromise with nm2585802 autoIsaac Perlmutter[/link] that's so good that not only is Inhumans going to get made, but it's even going to get a sequel. Then there's the idea of characters like Nova, Sentry, and Spider-Woman entering the fray.
Yeah, I'm doubting the hell out of this.
One of many red flags here is the Spider-Man flicks having anything other than a numerical sequel title at this point, when everything else has a number and not a title, and knowing that those scripts haven't even been written yet.
What, if anything, do you think is legit about this rumored slate?

Review: This was a fun little lead up to Captain America: Steve Rogers #1. It doesn’t really show anything about the Hydra/Cap storyline, more or less it’s a standard Captain America taking down the bad Hydra thugs story. There is a follow up with Sam Wilson Cap teaming up with the new Falcon as well. Neither is really something that’s stand alone as both are tie-ins to their own respective series. I was kind of hoping for something of a Hydra/Cap teaser here,...

Macnee with Honor Blackman in an early episode of The Avengers.
The distinguished British actor Patrick Macnee has passed away at age 93. Macnee personified the "typical" English gentleman in scores of films and TV appearances. He starred in "The New Avengers" in 1976. Macnee's also had a thriving career as a character actor in feature films. British actor Patrick Macnee, most recognizable to American audiences for playing secret agent John Steed in the 1960s cult-favorite TV series The Avengers, has died of natural causes at age 93.
He briefly reprised his iconic, umbrella sword-wielding role for the short-lived mid-‘70s revival The New Avengers.
Macnee’s post-Avengers TV credits included the title role in ABC’s CIA series Gavilan, the 1989 miniseries Around the World in 80 Days, voicing the opening credits for TV’s original Battlestar Galactica, the CBS drama P.S.I. Luv U, the syndicated action-adventure series Thunder in Paradise and, most recently, a 2001 episode of Frasier.

British actor Patrick Macnee, best known for his long-running role as The Avengers’ John Steed, has died at the age of 93.

Thanks to our friends at Latino Review, we have some potentially mind-blowing details for what we will see happen in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and more. The details also include the inclusion of Spider-Man. The deal between Marvel and Sony has reportedly gone through.
I will tell you right off the bat that there are some major Spoilers ahead. Latino Review is always pretty spot on with the intel they get, but until there's confirmation, we will still treat it as a rumor.
Before we begin, though, they make it very clear that Andrew Garfield will not be a part of any future Spider-Man deal. (There have been some rumors that Garfield would appear in a movie with Tobey Maguire also reprising his role as the web-slinger, but those seemingly aren't true.)
Now on to the meat of the article...Spoilers ahead for what might happen...

And the worst part is the people that Do notice you hinting about stuff are Not the people you Want to notice you hinting about stuff.

We pay tribute to Brian Clemens, a screenwriter and producer whose work lit up 1970s cult TV and beyond...
Brian Clemens, who died earlier this week aged 83, was a highly respected screenwriter and producer both for TV and Film. He will chiefly be remembered for his work on The Avengers, The New Avengers and The Professionals but his credits were numerous and encapsulated a real golden age of cult, escapist television from the 1950s onwards.
Clemens was born in Croydon in July 1931. He spent his National Service as a Weapons Training Instructor. After spending time as a copywriter, he established himself as a scriptwriter - sometimes using the pseudonym "Tony O'Grady" - O'Grady being his mother's maiden name. He received his first commission from the BBC at the age of 24 - a thriller called Valid For Single Journey Only. He went on to write for many of the big TV...

Recently, Entertainment Weekly chatted up "Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron" movie director, Joss Whedon, and he ended up, spilling some new, short spoiler intel for what they have planned. When asked bout it, he had this to say: "It’s our new Frankenstein myth. We create something in our own image and the thing turns on us. It has that pain of ‘Well, why was I made? I want to kill Daddy.'” After that, Joss went on to reference a short story by Ray Bradbury, "The Small Assassin," stating: "I don’t remember seeing an artificial-intelligence movie where the robot is bonker, the most emotionally unstable person in the film, and who has the knowledge of 3,000 years of recorded history and who's a pouty teen, all at the same time.” The new Avengers 2 flick hits theaters on May 1st, 2015.

Alex pays a fond return revisit to 1960s classic TV series, The Avengers...
Stylish crime fighting, despicable evil masterminds, a bowler-hatted old Etonian gentleman spy and a series of beautiful leather cat-suited, kinky-booted, no-nonsense heroines. The Avengers had all this and more. What began as a monochrome tape series in January 1961 ran the whole of the Sixties, becoming a colourful slice of period hokum, full of flair, wit and sophistication, yet with its tongue firmly in its cheek.
Always the perfect gentleman, John Steed was played by Patrick Macnee. Originally billed second to the late Ian Hendry, Macnee was still playing Steed over 15 years later when he was teamed with the youthful duo of Joanna Lumley and Gareth Hunt for The New Avengers in 1976. In the 1998 film, the role of Steed was given to Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman played Emma Peel. I will say no more about the film.

Opportunities are opening up to restore classic assets on new formats - but film restoration is an art form in danger. Ann-Marie Corvin reports from Screen International and Broadcast’s Restoration & Archive Forum
“If there’s been a gold rush in film archive then it’s kind of passed me by,” says Paul Collard, vice-president of film and digital services at film processing company Deluxe Digital.
While there have been a few showcase renewals in the Us, such as Sony’s 4K restoration of David Lean’s 1962 classic Lawrence Of Arabia, the main drivers for restoration of archive in Europe are commercial - the Blu-ray sell-through market and broadcasters looking to release TV classics on new distribution formats - or cultural, from national institutions and trusts that find the money to achieve a handful of significant projects.

We haven't heard a great deal about the follow-up to Tron Legacy since we spoke to its director Joseph Kosinski back in April. While it continues to light-bike around the 90 degree corners of development, its writer Jesse Wigutow has found time for another gig. He's adapting Brian Michael Bendis' indie graphic novel Fire, for a film being set up by Bendis himself and Zac Efron.Efron is already attached to star as a college student CIA recruit who stumbles on the unfortunate truth that he's being set up as cannon fodder. One of Bendis' first big works before the days of Daredevil, Alias, The New Avengers and so on, it was loosely based on facts uncovered about the Reagan administration. Bendis and Efron sold the project to Universal at Sundance in 2010.Wigutow is one of those high-profile hot young screenwriters who haven't actually had much produced yet. Alongside Tron Legacy,...

Lewis Collins, the popular British actor who played men of action, has died at from cancer at age 67. Although his fame was largely relegated to his native England, he maintained a loyal fan following primarily attributed to his role in the long-running UK TV series The Professionals which is still being presented in re-runs on ITV4. Collins also had roles in other popular British TV series including Z Cars, The New Avengers and The Cuckoo Waltz. He also starred in producer Euan Lloyd's 1982 feature film Who Dares Wins about a daring Sas operation. The film, released in the United States as The Final Option, was a personal favorite of President Ronald Reagan, who requested a private screening at the White House. Collins was touted by many as a suitable candidate for playing James Bond. In fact, Collins screen tested for the role of 007 but failed to convince legendary producer...

Actor Lewis Collins has died, aged 67.
The Professionals star passed away in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with cancer, his agent told BBC News.
The actor was perhaps best known for playing Bodie in the 1970's TV drama alongside Martin Shaw.
His agent said: "He died peacefully at his La home surrounded by his family. Privacy is asked for at this very sad time."
The Professionals centred around the cases of the fictional crime fighting unit named CI5.
The ITV programme was ratings success in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Collins auditioned for the role of James Bond in 1982, but was reportedly thought "too aggressive" for the part.
His other roles included Sas captain Peter Skellen in 1982's Who Dares Wins, George Godley in Jack the Ripper and parts in The Grimleys, The Bill, Cluedo and The New Avengers.

News is coming in fast and furious in relation to the four new Netflix original series based on Marvel properties. Today we’re hearing that the Jessica Jones series looks to have found its writer and overseer in Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter, Twilight).
Rosenberg wrote the screenplays for all five Twilight films, and was the writer/producer/showrunner for the first four seasons of Showtime’s Dexter. She was also once in talks to develop a series titled Aka Jessica Jones for ABC, so she’s no stranger to the property. Coupled with the announcement that Drew Goddard is going to be the overseer for the Daredevil series, Marvel’s plans are likely farther along than we may have suspected.
There isn’t much more information to go on for the Jessica Jones series just yet but speculation is that since Rosenberg was already attached to the property in 2010, this series...

Most Doctor Who fans know Peter Cushing played Dr. Who (not The Doctor) twice, in the feature film Dr. Who and the Daleks, as well as the adaptation Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. Most also know of his star turn as the unforgettably evil Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
Many may not know that between movies, TV series, video games, cartoons, and audio dramas, Doctor Who and Star Wars share many more actors in common. These ten actors have been pulled from both the the classic years and new series, as well as the original trilogy and it’s prequels.
While Doug Bradley doesn’t count in the confines of this list, due to just doing voice acting, it should be mentioned that besides his turn as Talbot in the Big Finish Productions audio drama Pier Pressure, and The Emperor in video game Star Wars: The Old Republic,...

Got The Avengers DVD on the day of its release and watched it all over again. My Mary and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and, from all indications, so did a lot of other people since its big screen release made more money than all but two other films.
Yes, previous Marvel films (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, Captain America, and the last Hulk film) all built up to it. It was great how it took the basic stuff we knew about all of them, including the initial Avengers comics, and was true to them but do you know what really made The Avengers such a juggernaut?
It was accessible.
You don’t need to know anything about the comics. You don’t need even to know anything about the other films. Everything you need to know to sit back and enjoy the movie is in the movie. Yes, if you know...

Although there has been no word yet on who will be starring in Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." series, odds are that we're in for quite a few super-heroic cameos. One superhero in specific seems to be a more than likely choice, given her past as both an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and an agent of Hydra (the terrorist organization that has proven to be S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most consistent enemy). Still haven't guessed who we're talking about?
Jessica Drew (a.k.a. Spider-Woman) first became a member of The New Avengers during its launch by Brian Bendis in 2005 following the events of "Avengers Disassembled." Currently, she's not only on the main Avengers team, but is also dating Hawkeye. So what are the chances that we'll be seeing Spider-Woman in 2015's "Avengers" sequel?
