Maybe Shazam and Black Adam might be fighting after all. Except not on screen in a grand action spectacle but on social media (where people normally fight nowadays). DC’s classic property has been dealt a one-two punch as both Black Adam and recently, Shazam: Fury of the Gods have been given much grief from critics as well as performing below expectations at the box office. Back with the first Shazam‘s success, and knowing that Dwayne Johnson should inevitably crossover, it looked like a good set-up for a big “versus” movie. However, neither film has really acknowledged each other. And Zachary Levi has supported a claim that it’s Johnson’s doing.
Last night, Levi shared a screenshot on an Instagram story of a report that Dwayne Johnson both refused to let the Shazam make a post-credits cameo in Black Adam and blocked the Justice Society of America’s...

Zachary Levi was casting thunderbolts Tuesday, after a report circulated that Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson blocked characters from The Rock’s film showing up in a post-credits scene in Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
It was already known that members of Black Adam’s Justice Society of America were originally slated to appear in Fury of the Gods, with filmmaker David F. Sandberg telling The Hollywood Reporter that the scene “fell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras,” forcing him to find alternate characters last-minute. On Tuesday, The Wrap reported that Johnson blocked the characters from appearing in Fury of the Gods, and that the actor and producer also nixed a potential Levi cameo in Black Adam.
In an Instagram story Tuesday, Levi shared a post mentioning The Wrap’s reporting, and he added his own commentary: “The truth shall set you free.”

Generally one of the most elusive of TV executives when it comes to TCA press tour candor -- The CW's Mark Pedowitz is a worthy challenger -- ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee may or may not have been saved by the success of "Resurrection," which somewhat salvaged a dismal spring of replacement failures. Now Lee and ABC are looking forward to a fall that lacks a clear presumptive hit, though presumptive hit status only did a little for "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." last year. And probably "How To Get Away With Murder" has the pedigree to succeed, while "Black-ish" has the lead-in to succeed. Click through and follow along for Lee's full discussion of why the ABC Brand is still strong and why we're overstating the network's struggles last season. 10 a.m. We started today with ABC Family -- No, "Bunheads" isn't coming back...

No, "Supernatural" isn't dead yet. It just feels like it. As the show limps toward yet another rote and unsatisfying conclusion (three in a row, for those keeping track), the CW had decided to try its hand at the whole spin-off thing yet again. Because it worked out so well three episodes ago.
Deadline is reporting that the CW is determined to make another "Supernatural" spin-off next year. The announcement comes less than a week after the network wised up and decided to kill the miserable "Supernatural: Bloodlines" project where it stood. CW chief Mark Pedowitz admitted that the spin-off endeavor “just didn’t get there” this season.
"Not getting there" is a bit of an understatement for one of the worst hours of television ever produced. "Bloodlines" had none of the grit that defined "Supernatural" throughout its formative years, instead delivering flaccid and high-gloss bullshit intrinsic of other CW properties.

Taking on a classic is a gutsy move, even for an award-winning filmmaker. And when director Kimberly Peirce signed on to re-imagine Stephen King's horror classic "Carrie," about a teenage girl with telekinetic powers hellbent on revenge, she knew she had some sky-high expectations to meet.
"I'd make a joke and say, 'I didn't give a f*ck,' but of course I felt pressure!" she told us recently while doing press for "Carrie." "But I think pressure is good."
All that pressure had Peirce thinking long and hard about what it would mean to sign on to a project of this scale, with its history and existing fan base. Having made just one film, 2008's "Stop-Loss," since her 1999 directorial debut, "Boys Don't Cry," it's clear, as a filmmaker, she doesn't make decisions lightly.
"I walked into this feeling a huge responsibility, much like I did with 'Boys Don't Cry...

New York — The most striking thing about the broadcast TV networks announcing their new fall schedules this past week was how little that actually meant.
Television schedules seem more like sketches these days. Even the networks admit their prime-time plans for September will be different by January, even more so a few months later. That's not even taking into account the inevitable failures among the 56 new series ordered into production by ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW.
Broadcasters are more frequently embracing the cable TV idea of limited run series, of taking favorites off the air for a time instead of showing reruns, and of not treating summer as an afterthought.
"We're not constrained by the traditional broadcast schedule anymore," Kevin Reilly, Fox entertainment chairman, proclaimed in a presentation to advertisers.
Television has typically started its new season in late September, a calendar that was set to coincide with...

In what should come as no surprise to anyone, The CW has announced a full season order for its rookie series "The Secret Circle". If you're a fan of the show, why not celebrate by watching the just released preview of tomorrow night's Episode 1.05, "Slither", hosted by executive producer Andrew Miller?
Per The CW's president Mark Pedowitz, the order was given to "The Secret Circle" along with two of the network's other freshmen series, "Ringer" and "Hart of Dixie". “We believe in the creative strength of these dramas, and by giving them back-nine orders, we can give our audience the chance to enjoy complete seasons of all three of them,” he said. “With compelling storylines, engaging characters, and tremendous buzz, we firmly believe that Hart of Dixie, Ringer, and The Secret Circle can become signature series for The CW, the kind of top-notch shows that are synonymous with our brand.

After the success of webseries Becoming Human (which attracted 1.5 million hits online), BBC3 were encouraged to stitch the eight episodes together into one 50-minute special that aired last night — premiering the story’s conclusion in the process. But I’m sure this was the Beeb’s intention from the start, considering the production standards of the webisodes, and its clear intention to become a full-blooded TV spin-off to Being Human.
Becoming Human has largely the same premise as its parent series, only with adolescent characters and a few gender swaps. If Being Human’s high-concept logline was “a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost share a house together”, Becoming Human wonders what would happen if a vampire, a werewolf and ghost went to school together. Continuing the story of Adam (Craig Roberts) from Being Human’s “Adam’s Family”, the 46-year-old vampire trapped in the body of a 17-year-old enrolls...
