Dance Moms Abby Lee Miller Too Toxic For Reunion
Fans of Lifetime’s Dance Moms were very well aware that Abby Lee Miller was not the easiest teacher to work with. She would demean and yell at her dance students, including JoJo Siwa and Mackenzie Zeigler, making them feel like they were never good enough. Luckily, they all appeared to have come out of the experience unscathed. Some continued dancing and performing, having very successful careers. Others went on to attend university, graduating and living their best lives.

The close-knit "Star Trek" family has lost one of their own today. Actor Gary Graham, most well-known for playing the role of the Vulcan Ambassador Soval in "Star Trek: Enterprise," sadly passed away early in the morning January 23, 2024. His death was first announced in a Facebook post by his ex-wife and actor Susan Lavelle (viaParade.com). No cause of death has yet been revealed, except that it was described as "sudden." Graham was 73 years old.
In addition to starring in "Enterprise" and even showing up for a brief appearance in "Star Trek: Voyager," Graham was more than willing to lend his talents to various roles in "Star Trek" fan films throughout the years, bringing Soval back to life in several unofficial movies that may not be formally sanctioned in the official canon of the franchise, but nonetheless speaks to the actor's passion for the character and his appreciation for the Trekkie community.

The legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager took Philip Kaufman, the writer/director of the lauded 1983 space race epic “The Right Stuff,” for a ride in his plane during production. And at one point the man who broke the sound barrier in 1947 turned over the controls to Kaufman as he also turned off the engine. “He thought it would scare me being one of the ‘Hollywood’ guys,” Kaufman told me in a 2003 L.A. Times interview. “I just sort of looked at him and smiled, because I knew there was something blessed about this man. The funny thing about Yeager is that he would drive out to the sets, particularly in the high desert, and he would not go above the speed limit. He was the fastest man alive, but he wouldn’t go over 55 because he knew how dangerous it was on the highway”

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller sent social media into a frenzy after revealing she is attracted to high school football players in a now-viral podcast clip.
The dance studio owner, known for instructing JoJo Siwa and Maddie Ziegler, joined Sofia Franklyn on her podcast, Sofia with an F, where she began discussing the 1984 film All the Right Moves. “Have you seen All the Right Moves? That’s the best movie ever,” said Miler. “You know, high school football player— that’s my downfall, I like the high school football players. I still like them,” highlighting her infatuation with high school athletes.
Franklyn sheepishly laughed at Miller’s comment, adding that her preference would be the coach rather than the student players, to which Miller clarified that she prefers current high school athletes.
“Not one that used to be in high school, but one that is. Yes,” Miller emphasized.

The former ‘Dance Moms’ stars is addressing her controversial comments in an Instagram video posted on Monday.
Abby Lee Miller is walking back some controversial comments she recently made in which she seemingly stated that she is attracted to high school football players.
Miller’s original comments came towards the end of an appearance on Sofia Franklyn’s “Sofia with an F” podcast, in which Miller, 57, brought up the 1983 sports drama “All the Right Moves”, in which Tom Cruise — who was 21 at the time of release — played a high school senior and star player on the school’s football team.
“Oh, that’s my downfall. I like the high school football players,” Miller said at the time, adding, “I still like them.”

If you’re a fan of true crime documentaries or early millennium classic cartoons then boy does Hulu’s list of new releases have some great news for you!
Hulu continues its implicit understanding that streaming services are basically true crime distribution machines this month with a trio of intriguing titles. While it’s not necessarily true crime per se, The Ashley Madison Affair about the notorious dating platform premieres on July 7. That will be followed by Betrayal: The Perfect Husband on July 11, which is based on a compelling podcast of the same name. The Jewel Thief arrives on July 13 to provide an account of Gerald Blanchard, one of history’s most creative criminals.
But where does the cartoon excitement comes in? Well, that’s because season 11 of Matt Groening’s beloved Futurama premieres on July 24. Fry, Leela, the Professor, and Bender will all return for a direct continuation of...

Vampires are taking a wacky bite out of summer. In Season 5 of FX and Hulu’s “What We Do In The Shadows,” Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) looks for a vampire who can give him the transformation that Nandor the Relentless has kept from him. But it may not go as planned. The beloved comedy, which takes a mockumentary look at four vampires living in Staten Island, returns on July 14.
Check out the Season 5 trailer of “What We Do In the Shadows”:
Another highly anticipated return coming to Hulu in July is the latest season of long-running animated series “Futurama.” The show’s first four seasons aired on Fox from 1999 to 2003, it was then picked up by Comedy Central for three seasons from 2008 to 2013. Now, nearly a decade later, the Mike Judge-created series will return for the first half of the 20-episode Season 8 on July 24 with the original voice cast.

Take those old records off the shelf because Risky Business is turning 40 this year. And not only is Tom Cruise – who played high schooler Joel Goodsen, who gets mixed up with a prostitute and her pimp – amazed by that, but he admits that he still dances around the house in his underwear as he famously did in Risky Business.
At the premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Tom Cruise remembered where so much of his fame began, calling working on 1983’s Risky Business a “formative” experience. “He gave me the opening frame of that shot and he goes, ‘I want to start here, I want to move here,’ and he and I – Paul Brickman, great filmmaker – he and I talked about it, he said, ‘Here’s the choreography.’ Look, I grew up dancing in my underwear in my house, who didn’t? So I was like, I got this!

“Ahahayy!! Viva Mexico, cabrones!” With that battle cry, Academy Award-winner Guillermo del Toro announced Mexico as the Country of Honor at this year’s Annecy, France’s preeminent animation film festival.
According to organizer Pixelatl, an association dedicated to the creation and promotion of Mexico’s multimedia content, more than 250 Mexican animators and producers will descend on Annecy with nine programs scheduled.
“The Book of Life” director Jorge R. Gutiérrez, whose Netflix series “Maya and the Three” won four Emmys and an Annie, created the poster and title cards of the festival and will also be hosting a Master Class and screening of “The Book of Life.”
Del Toro’s best animated feature Oscar for his “Pinocchio” this year could not be more fortuitous and timelier for the festival, Gutiérrez observes. Aside from a special screening of “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” the maestro will also be presiding over a master class.

Few titles have redefined the horror genre like Scream. Wes Craven’s original film premiered in 1996 and promptly unleashed a wave of teen meta-slashers that would dominate the genre for the remainder of the decade. From the filmmaking collective Radio Silence, Scream VI manages to strike the perfect balance of homage to the past while moving the story forward.
We won’t reveal spoilers here, but the film features an unprecedented reverence to all nine of the Ghostface killers who’ve come before with a museum-like shrine including their individual costumes, weapons, and personal artifacts. It’s a fun trip down memory lane, but what about their victims?

Some rock stars write music for other artists. For example, Adele‘s “Rumour Has It” was co-written by a rock star. He wanted the track to resemble “dirty Louisiana porch stomping.”

There can be no doubt why Searchlight Pictures was excited to bring Flamin’ Hot, the true life story of the man known as the “godfather of Hispanic marketing,” to the screen. Premiering today at SXSW, the life story of Richard Montanez — a high school dropout from a struggling Latino family who worked as a janitor in a Southern California Frito-Lay factory for 10 years — is, at its heart, really a Rocky-style inspirational tale perfect for the Hollywood treatment. When Tom Cruise's Joel Goodsen danced across a wooden floor in his underwear as a teenage pimp in "Risky Business," he became an '80s heartthrob. Early in his career, Cruise could have remained as a teen-mag pinup type. Instead, he became a superstar badass known for films like the "Mission Impossible" franchise. Shortly after "Risky Business," Cruise played a young, ambitious football star in a nowhere town in "All the Right Moves." He then portrayed Jack, the heroic savior of damsels in distress in "Legend."
Ridley Scott's fantastical tale of good vs. evil was widely panned by critics. Over the years, it has become a cult-classic hit. Putting aside the possible cinematic shortcomings of "Legend," it surprisingly led to the emergence of one of America's most successful action stars and most beloved action films of all time.

Matt James, who made history last year as the first Black (male) lead on one of TV’s biggest shows, The Bachelor, has had over a year to reflect on the experience and now says he sees the full scope of the opportunity lost. Given the landmark nature of his role, James says he expected the show’s producers would use the conversations around race and other matters he was having with the contestants and then-host Chris Harrison to illuminate the issues the country was facing in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd. But when he saw the show after it was edited, those discussions and even the reality of his own accomplishments were subsumed by the show’s fluffier fare.
“There was nothing to lay the framework — my background, who I was or why I’m here,” James recently told the Los Angeles Times. “The show went...

In keeping with the meme of cinema’s end times, it’s easy to use “Top Gun: Maverick” — and its presumed box-office dominance — as evidence that Tom Cruise Is the Last Movie Star. It’s nonsense, of course; among the current drivers of Hollywood hits are Sandra Bullock, Tom Holland, Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, and Ryan Reynolds. Timothee Chalamet is a rising star; so is Lady Gaga.
Cruise’s long-awaited sequel to his biggest hit opened to 19.26 million in previews, and could gross 150 million across the four-day Memorial Day weekend. Cruise may not be the last star, and he certainly remains one — but his path to stardom is one that no one will be able to walk again. Unlike almost everyone — everyone — else in Hollywood, he doesn’t make TV, but he might become the first actor to shoot a film in space.

When you’re a streaming service, there’s only one way to celebrate the New Year. And that’s by IP mining to bring back a franchise that had no business in coming back!
With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.
Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.
There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.
Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

Mark Elliott, who before becoming the voice of numerous Disney promos and trailers already had used his vocal skills to prepare audiences for Smokey and the Bandit, The Goodbye Girl and, through a radio campaign, Star Wars, died Saturday in Los Angeles following two heart attacks and a battle with lung cancer. He was 81.
“Mark was a true gentleMAN,” wrote friend and fellow voiceover artist Joe Cipriano in a Facebook tribute. “Getting to share all of our scenes in Lake Bell’s In a World was icing on the cake.” Elliott and Cipriano both appeared in Bell’s 2013 film about movie trailer voice-over artists.
Elliott’s career with Disney began with a 1977 trailer for the studio’s re-release of 1950’s Cinderella. His association with Disney would continue into the early years of the 21st century, with credits ranging from trailers to his narration for the anthology series The Magical World of Disney.

Exclusive: Netflix has handed reality dating show Too Hot to Handle a two-season renewal after its blockbuster first outing last year, but there are changes planned: The show has shifted location and the shoot has become a co-production between two Fremantle production outfits.
Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos hailed Too Hot To Handle as its “biggest competition show ever” after the series premiered last April, but the streamer has been patient about committing to further seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, production is underway on two new seasons, which will revolve around the same conceit: A bunch of singletons will be transported to an exotic location where they hope to find love, but there’s a catch — they are forbidden from kissing, canoodling, and self-gratification. Every fumble results in the cash prize dropping.
The first season was shot in Mexico, but Deadline hears that the next two are being filmed on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Exclusive: Netflix has greenlit a new version of BBC Three’s high-concept masked dating show, Sexy Beasts, as part of a wave of UK-made reality series, Deadline can reveal.
Produced by All3Media-owned Lion TV, Sexy Beasts is a bit like The Masked Singer but for dating. In a format designed to spotlight personality, singletons are disguised in Hollywood-grade prosthetics before they go dating. Only once decisions are made about potential suitors do the elaborate masks come off.
The show ran for just one season on youth service BBC Three in 2014, but Lion had some success with the format internationally, including adapting it for A&e in 2015. It will now get a new lease of life as a 12-part series on Netflix.

Update, September 22: Martin Scorsese, a frequent collaborator of Chapman’s, has issued the following statement following the cinematographer’s passing: “I consider myself so fortunate to have been able to work with Michael Chapman. Michael and I made three films together—’Taxi Driver,’ ‘The Last Waltz,’ and ‘Raging Bull,’ and he brought something rare and irreplaceable to each of them.”
Scorsese continues, “I remember when ‘Taxi Driver’ came out and Michael became known as a ‘poet of the streets’—I think that was the wording, and it seemed right to me. Michael was the one who really controlled the visual palette of ‘The Last Waltz,’ and on ‘Raging Bull’ he and his team met every single challenge—and there were so many. One of the greatest of those challenges was shooting in black and white, which Michael had never done before, a fact that still astonishes me. His relationship...

Exclusive: Netflix is drawing up plans to get its UK shows back into production amid the coronavirus pandemic, and the streamer has a hopeful target of August for its hit drama Sex Education.
Deadline has spoken to a number of sources on the Eleven show, and they say that August is the current ambition for Season 3, but nothing is cast in stone as the situation with Covid-19 is developing quickly.
August is seen as the latest Sex Education could go into production this year because the show is reliant on filming during the longer days of British summer, and the sunshine is an important part of its on-screen gloss. It means Netflix and Eleven will need to make a final decision on the shoot plans next month, given the show requires 10 weeks of prep time.

He’s best known for his Emmy-winning role as the tough but lovable Hayden Fox on ABC’s 1989 to 1997 sitcom Coach, so it’s no surprise that star Craig T. Tom Cruise has been a consistently bankable and likeable A-lister for over three decades now. That doesn’t happen by accident. “Tom Cruise Movies” are films only possible with Cruise’s level of charisma, energy and youthful enthusiasm, and Most of Cruise’s movies are “Tom Cruise Movies.” And if anyone can jumpstart “The Mummy” franchise again, it’s Cruise. Here’s every film he’s starred in, ranked.
41. “Cocktail”
Cruise’s Type-a, adrenaline-fueled drive serves him very well in movies where the stakes are high. But “Cocktail” is just “Top Gun” behind a bar. The work-hard play-hard clichés at work here threatened to make Cruise the role model for handsome, affable, lame guys you swipe past on dating apps. Cruise smartly moved on from roles like this.
40. “Endless Love”
Tom Cruise has a tiny part in this Brooke Shields melodrama when he was just a squeaky-voiced teen, his first ever on-screen role.

If you've watched Netflix's sweet romantic comedy Set It Up, you might wonder why the frazzled aspiring journalist played by Zoey Deutch reminds you of someone you already know from Hollywood. In fact, she looks a lot like the mother in the Back to the Future trilogy and Tom Cruise's love interest in All the Right Moves. Well, that's because Deutch's mother is none other than, drum roll please, the iconic Lea Thompson!
Thompson has been in so many shows and movies over the years that it's hard to keep track of her highly productive career. Before movies and TV shows, her interest in the arts started with professional ballet training. After Thompson devoted years to the craft, a ballet instructor told her that she was good, but just "too stocky."
Thompson then switched gears to acting. She made her big-screen debut in...
