In Sam Raimi's 2022 superhero film "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," the titular wizard (Benedict Cumberbatch) was able to skip across multiple dimensions merrily, thanks to the portal-creating superpowers of one America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). Halfway through the film, Doctor Strange finds himself in a distant dimension, standing in the courtroom of the Illuminati, a superhero team that a parallel version of himself once belonged to. The Illuminati explains to the good Doctor that his alternate self has gone mad and needs to be executed, something they find might be true of the O.G. Doctor Strange as well.
In an orgy of fan service, the Illuminati is made up of alternate Marvel characters culled from the history of Marvel media. Black Bolt (Anson Mount) is from the oft-forgotten TV series "Inhumans." There is an alternate Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch) as she was seen in 2019's "Captain Marvel.

George C. Scott would’ve celebrated his 92nd birthday on October 18, 2019. The Oscar-winning actor remained active right up to the very end of his life, making his mark in dozens of movies, television shows and plays before his death in 1999 at 72. But how many of his titles remain classics? In honor of his birthday, let’s take a look back at 15 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1927, Scott got his start in theater, winning Obie awards for his performances in “Children of Darkness,” “As You Like It” and “Richard III.” He transitioned into movies and television shortly thereafter, snagging his first Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actor for “Anatomy of a Murder” in 1959. He reaped a second bid in the category just two years later for “The Hustler” (1961), although he refused the citation, objecting to the very idea of having actors compete against each other for prizes.

Patrick Stewart is one of those celebrities who seems so fun and rad that you worry he'll disappoint you someday. Thankfully, that day has not come yet. The venerable actor took to Reddit to promote his new Seth MacFarlane-produced Starz sitcom "Blunt Talk," and his answers confirm he's cool, delightful, and just as Patrick Stewart-y as we'd imagined. Here are his best answers. On what he'd ask William Shakespeare: "My question would be: Prove to me you're William Shakespeare." On the most "accidentally funny" thing he's done this week: "Nothing I do is accidentally funny. It is all pre-meditated and carefully planned and scheduled. And if you steal one of my funny ideas, I Will sue you." On his best interaction with the great Roger Rees: "Dear Roger Rees saw a preview of my one-man show, A Christmas Carol, and told me I shouldn't act Scrooge.

I was sad to hear of Roger Rees’s death in July. I know you worked with him many years ago in the RSC (and in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights," of course!) Could you share your favorite memory of him? Dear Roger Rees saw a preview of my one-man show, "A Christmas Carol," and told me I shouldn't act Scrooge.

I have the theme from Gremlins stuck in my head and it’s all your fault!
What better way to celebrate Christ’s Birthday (Observed) than with a full day’s programming of movies that have nothing to do with Him? I figure we’ll get to that next year on Christ’s Deathday (Observed); for now, these flicks of love, gratitude and a whole spectrum of other heartwarming words will have to suffice.
8:00 Am - It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) - 130 min
It’s a movie everybody’s seen! Or at least that used to be the case. I’m old and cognizant enough to remember the clichéd time when It’s a Wonderful Life was shown on seemingly every channel, round-the-clock from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day, but even though that ended roughly fifteen to twenty years ago, the stereotype remains. These days, I think less and less...

Star of stage and screen and cult legend Michael Gough passed away today, March 17, 2011. He was 94 years old.
Gough was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya (now Malaysia), the son of British parents Frances Atkins (née Bailie) and Francis Berkeley Gough on November 23, 1916. Although he objected to World War II, he felt obligated to serve his country in the Non-Combatant Corps, and was a member of the No. 6 Ncc in Liverpool. From 1947 until his retirement in 2000, he acted in film, television, and toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He made his film debut in 1948 in Blanche Fury, the plot of which was based on an actual Victorian England homicide case. Over the years, he appeared with such notable actors as Vivien Leigh, Ralph Richardson and Sir Laurence Olivier.
Gough appeared in two separate Doctor Who serials, the first as the villain in the William Hartnell serial “The Celestial Toymaker”. He then...

Susannah York, the British actress nominated for an Oscar in 1969 for her breakout performance in the heavy Jane Fonda Depression-era period piece They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, has passed away at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer.
Most of York's best roles were in the Mod Decade, beginning with Tom Jones in 1963, as well as A Man For All Seasons and a plumb role as Beryl Reid's gay lover in The Killing Of Sister George towards the end of the '60s.
She also appeared in A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott. Though there was a lean period after her Oscar nomination, York's career continued after Horses when she played Clark Kent's mother Lara in Superman (1978).

British actress Susannah York passed away Saturday (Jan. 15) in England after a battle with cancer. She was 72. York is best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in the 1969 movie "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?", about a grueling dance marathon. She was joined in the movie by Jane Fonda and Bonnie Bedelia.
But we know her from a couple other projects. She played Lara, Kal-El's mother on Krypton, in "Superman" and "Superman II," with a voice credit for "Superman IV." She also played Margaret, the daughter of Sir Thomas More in the 1966 movie "A Man for All Seasons" opposite Paul Scofield and Robert Shaw.
Susannah was also in one of our favorite versions of "A Christmas Carol" -- she was Mrs. Cratchit in the version starring George C. Scott as Ebeneezer Scrooge. In her later years, she acted mostly in England.
And for a bit of interesting trivia, "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?...

Top Ten Time Travel Movies
Deciding where to begin with a list of my top ten time travel movies wasn't very hard. I had a handful of films already in mind when I started, as with most any list of this sort, the films I watched as I was growing up had a profound effect on me and therefore always effect the way lists such as this turn out. However, before I felt I could do a proper list there was much more than simply the films I've watched over my lifetime to consider. In order to be thorough I had to look elsewhere and at films I had yet to see.
On top of figuring out my favorites I also had to figure out whether some films should even be classified as "time travel movies." Take Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) for instance. Throughout the entire film...

For any actor overlooked and underappreciated in his or her early days, take heart. Patrick Stewart has tales for you. Bypassed by the Royal Shakespeare Company twice while a young actor, he finally won the chance to understudy there and became a core member years later. Through the help of others, through his own perseverance, he became the noted star of today, earning the admiration and respect of actors of all generations. But he started humbly—in life and as an actor. He eventually garnered supporting roles on television, diligently building a résumé of fascinating characters, from the darkly silent Karla in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" through the scheming Sejanus in "I, Claudius." Then came his leading roles, creating Captain Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation," headlining his own series "Eleventh Hour," and playing Professor Xavier in the vast "X-Men" franchise. He has meanwhile been a gift to the theater,...

Chicago - We’re approaching an entertainment apocalypse as the new four horsemen arrive on the hill: Redbox, Comcast, Marketeers and Spencer Pratt. In a decade, we’re going to be watching puppet shows on network TV and not even Jeff Dunham level puppet shows. But let’s give a run down of trainwrecks that will claim the lives of entertainment business models.
Redbox is a simple concept - a kiosk that allows you to rent a hot new DVD title for a $1 a day. There will be 20,000 of them across the country in grocery stores, drugstores and Wal-marts by the end of the year. They’re a mini-Blockbuster that’s doesn’t required a zit-faced dreamer to run the register. What’s the problem with Redbox? It’s killing to DVD sales market faster than Blockbuster and Netflix. Having Redbox inside Wal-Mart wrecks the impulse buying temptation of the giant sale bin.

Popular actor known for his roles in Callan, The Equalizer and The Wicker Man
Edward Woodward, who has died aged 79, was an actor with possibly far more potential than was ever realised on screen, but he became a popular television star in Callan and The Equalizer and enjoyed cult success with the film The Wicker Man. For many years, he was part of the comfortable community of jobbing actors, directors and producers which could be called the "Teddington set" – those who worked for the BBC, ABC and Thames TV studios in west London in their heyday – and so found it comparatively easy to get parts which were financially rewarding but not too stretching.
Presentable, but sombre in appearance, he played loners on the edges of society, and even sanity, who were in their different ways concerned with justice – either sympathetically or not. He was a man who, like many of his most memorable roles,...
