Buck ai confini del cielo or Buck at the edge of heaven (1991) is an entertaining fim with action , adventures and spectacular Alps landscapes . Buck ai confini del cielo(1991) is an exciting adventure shot in the wake of ¨White Fang¨ set in Alaska during Gold Rush . This adventure movie is set at the end 19th Century , in the Klondike region of Yukon, Canada . It has as starring the wolf-dog named Buck . Stars a trapper named Wintrop (David Hess) lives in a lonesome hut in the Alaska mountains , together with his father , Grandpa Thomas (William Berger) , son Tim , his German Shepherd Buck and the deaf-mute scout Matt. When an evil group of villains robs and kills grandpa in their absence , they further on are determined to hunt them down . Shortly after t, hey arrive the last minute to save Corinne (Jennifer Youngs , John Savage's daughter) from the very same band of cutthroats . However her daddy dies due to the injures , so they ask the young woman to live with them . Later on , the family head off to the local village where the bad guys are spending time at the saloon . The family and the faithful mate , the wolf-dog , attempt to stop the ambitious, snarling evildoer (Rik Battaglia) and his hoodlums until a thrilling final confrontation .

This is a tepid and light-hearted adventure about known and very freely classic novel by Jack London . Lumpy blend of adventure , action , villainy , though needlessly violent and aimed to young people . Exception for some shootouts , it almost entirely lacking in moving incidents or interest enough . The film is loosely based on the novel by Jack London , though differs significantly from the book but this is an invented version , however remains the essential elements as the young-dog friendship , the gold rush , spectacular outdoors and locations and several moving scenes . Made in similar budget and parallel style to ¨Tonino Ricci 's White Fang to the Rescue¨1975 with Maurizio Merli , Henry Silva. The talent of diverse and wasting casting is redeemed in part for the spectacular outdoors filmed on Austrian and Italian landscapes . It's a below average that that maintains the charm and adventure style of the previous film but still makes for a so-so juvenile amusement , being partially redeemed for its gorgeous outdoors nicely photographed by cameraman Giovanni Bergamini . Weak screenplay from Tito Carpi who wrote in similar similar style a lots of films in the sixties and seventies . The main entertainment of the film is to find several Italian secondaries who apperead in all kinds of genres , Spaghetti Western , Giallo, Peplum , Euro-spy , in the golden age of the Eurotrash such as Rik Battaglia , Ottaviano Dell'Acqua , Franco Fantasia , Alberto Dell'Acqua , Bobby Rhodes and William Berger , while the American John Savage has a very secondary intervention.

This one belongs to subgenre about Jack London renditions, dealing with Call of the Wild and White Fang , such as : ¨Call of the wild ¨ by Ken Annakin with Charlton Heston , White Fang(1991)by Randal Kleiser with Ethan Kawke as young prospector and Klaus Maria Brandauer, and The return of White Fang(1994) by Ken Olin with Scott Bairstow and once again Ethan Hawke.

It displays an anticlimatic and unappropriate musical score by actor David Hess himself , composed by mean of synthesyzer , including a lousy song .The motion picture titled ¨Buck ai confini del cielo(1991)¨ was badly directed by Tonino Ricci . He was a below average director who in the 90s also realized other dog-films as this ¨Buck and Tim¨ and sequel ¨Buck and the magic bracelet ¨ with Matt McCoy , The recently deceased Tonino was an uneven filmmaker who began his career as an Second Unit Director or Assistant Director and writer, being his first film this "The Liberators" , or ¨Dedo En La Llaga¨, or original title "Il Dito Nella Piaga" . Ricci was a craftsman who directed all kinds genres , as Terror : ¨Panic¨ ; Giallo : "Cross Current" ; Western : "The Great Treasure Hunt" ,"Robin Hood , Arrows , Beans and Karate" , "Bad Kids of the West" ; Adventures : ¨Buck¨,¨Buck and the magic bracelet¨ , "White Fang to the Rescue" , ¨Robin Hood¨ , ¨Thor Il Conquistatore¨, "Raiders of the Magic Ivory" , ¨Bermudas : The cave of sharks¨ ; Action : ¨Rage¨, ¨Rush¨ , ¨Day of the sharks¨ , "Days of Hell" ; Sci-Fi : "Encounters in the Deep" and Mafia film : "The Big Family". Rating . 3.5/10 . Inferior adventure movie.

Not THAT bad

Warning: Spoilers
BUCK AT THE EDGE OF HEAVEN is a Jack London-style Italian adventure flick, set in the Alaskan wilds. Although ostensibly a kid's movie with a German Shepherd as the protagonist, this is often a nihilistic and violent story that seems to take great delight in bumping off peripheral cast members. It's not quite as assured as some of the '70s Italian flicks on the same subject (in particular those shot by Lucio Fulci), but director Tonino Ricci does his best and this turns out to be more enjoyable than the belated sequel, BUCK AND THE MAGIC BRACELET. Half the fun comes from seeing various Italian cult cinema regulars including big man David Hess, DEMONS star Bobby Rhodes, oldie William Berger, Rik Battaglia and Ottaviano Dell'Acqua.
