Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a film about retribution and redemption. Not just on screen, but in execution. After their last attempt at a blockbuster was shelved in the name of a tax loophole, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah seem intent on unleashing all their pent-up energy, whether they’re selling us Batgirls or Bad Boys. Even if it bears the baggage of a meta redemption arc for its star, Ride or Die brings enough stylistic gusto to its action in the absence of Michael Bay but has a hard time justifying most other decisions, which adopt the tedium rampant in modern blockbuster filmmaking.
The infusion of Fast & Furious DNA into Bad Boys seemed inevitable by the third entry. Who could blame a long-dormant action franchise for taking its cues from one of the most prevalent (and successful) film series in the intervening 17 years? In the case of Ride or Die,...

Tom Cruise didn’t just jump up and down on a couch as an overeager romantic. The otherwise calm and composed Cruise often blurted out his love for his partner on public platforms in the 2000s. The actor might be single now, but there was a time when he was associated with some of the top actresses. After his divorce from Nicole Kidman, Cruise was involved in a romantic relationship with Penélope Cruz.

The much-anticipated sequel to the iconic 2022 film, Top Gun: Maverick, is set in motion, and there’s plenty of buzz surrounding it. With Tom Cruise reprising his role as Maverick and a new generation of pilots entering the fray, the sequel promises to be an action-packed thrill ride.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the third flick is the mystery surrounding Glen Powell’s character, known as Hangman. While details about him have been kept tightly under wraps, there are some fascinating theories floating around that suggest he could be the son of Val Kilmer’s character, Iceman.

One major complaint against Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, who are currently some of the biggest names in Hollywood, is they play it too safe with their movies. Despite having starred in dramas early in their career, since their rise to fame in Hollywood, both actors have limited themselves in a bubble and are known for playing themselves in most movies.
But things couldn’t be more different with Tom Cruise, arguably the biggest movie star on the planet, and one of the major recipes behind it is the actor’s willingness to learn.

We're just a few days away from the premiere of "Ultraman: Rising" on Netflix, the latest addition to the ever-growing animation library of the streamer. Animation has been on shaky ground for the last few years, with the animation guild growing stronger to fight for fair contractions as creatives continue to battle against the dystopian threat of artificial intelligence. Fortunately, animation is still as popular and well-loved as ever, and Netflix has been absolutely crushing it as of late. Not only did the streamer pull in an Academy Award for Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" in 2022, but shows like "Blue Eye Samurai," "Arcane," "Love, Death, & Robots," and movies like "Wendell & Wild," "The Sea Beast," and "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" are some of the best releases of original animation, period.

Within minutes of the actors strike ending on Nov. 9, Ryan Reynolds was making plans to get back to London and the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the many movies shut down in mid-July when the walkout commenced. He and director Shawn Levy were determined to make their July 26 release date, which they were able to accomplish. For other tentpoles, it was too late, and they would ultimately decamp to 2025.
One studio head says the impact of the writers’ walkout, which lasted five months until a settlement was reached on Sept. 27, also played a major role. “Think of it like this — if the actors’ strike shut down the oil refinery, then the writers’ strike shut down the oil fields.”

Renner reprised his role in the next movie, Rogue Nation, and was even rumored to take over the series from Cruise. However, he left the series right before the sixth film and it may have to do with one of the ideas from director Christopher McQuarrie.

2023 saw quite a few masterpieces (even though the box office disasters were more), and Godzilla Minus One was one of them.
Besides the tremendous critical praise it has earned from global audiences and critics, the movie seems to have gotten on the good side of quite a few celebrities in Hollywood as well. One of these is the Star Trek actor, Simon Pegg.

However, as compared to other notable reviewers, Pegg seemed to have a mixed opinion on the movie and the MonsterVerse.
This is because, on the one hand, while he greatly acknowledged the gem of a work that the film was, bringing about a new take on the Kaiju and its relationship with humans, he simultaneously also hinted that the MonsterVerse is “f—ing cultural appropriation.”

Jeremy Renner has revealed that he was asked to appear in 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout but refused when he found out his character was going to be killed off.
Long time appreciators of the Mission: Impossible franchise will probably remember that Jeremy Renner had a prominent role alongside Tom Cruise in two movies before mysteriously vanishing around the middle of the 2010s.
It turns out there’s a good reason for this: having previously appeared in 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and 2015’s Rogue Nation, Renner was invited to return as globe-trotting agent William Brandt for a third time in 2018’s Fallout. Then the actor discovered that the film’s plot would see his character killed off after just a few scenes, and so he flatly refused to appear.

Robert Downey Jr. led the Avengers in the Infinity Saga as Tony Stark/ Iron Man for a decade. Following his introduction in Iron Man, he slowly assembled the original six Avengers with the help of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Iron Man would assemble for the first time in 2012’s The Avengers.

After starring in two Mission: Impossible films — 2011’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jeremy Renner is speaking out about his refusal to return for his third film in the franchise.
In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Renner told host Josh Horowitz it was a too big of a time commitment because his daughter was so young then, he couldn’t be away filming that long. But he noted his interest dimmed after he learned he was slated to film one week so that his character Imf agent William Brandt could be killed off.
“I remember they tried to bring me over[seas] for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, ‘No, you don’t get to do that. You’re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,’ like get out of here!

Jeremy Renner’s history with the “Mission: Impossible” franchise spans two films, 2011’s “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and 2015’s “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.” During an interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the actor revealed that he was actually asked to reprise the character of Imf agent William Brandt in the 2018 sequel “Fallout.” However, the offer was apparently for Renner to shoot one week so that Brandt could be killed off. Renner refused.

Tom Hollander, the guest on this episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, is a brilliant British character actor who has distinguished himself on the stage and screens big and small, with the New York Times describing him as “vitally funny in dramatic roles [and] wrenchingly somber in comic ones.” Indeed, over the course of a career dating back 42 years, he has been a part of two SAG Award-winning casts, one for a film, 2001’s Gosford Park, and another for a TV series, 2023’s The White Lotus season two. He won a best supporting actor BAFTA TV Award for 2016’s The Night Manager. And he was nominated for a best actor in a play Tony Award for 2018’s Travesties.

From leading the most acclaimed Star Wars release, The Empire Strikes Back to starring in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Blade Runner, the ’80s saw Harrison Ford at his peak. Moreover, apart from taking leading roles in major sci-fi and fantasy releases, he also made sure to star in several acclaimed dramas, including Witness, which earned him an Oscar nod for Best Actor.
But while Ford took on many iconic gigs, especially in the 80s, the actor also chose to turn down a plethora of them, including Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables.

Paramount: Now (finally) Under New Ownership! A special committee at the company has approved a deal that will merge Paramount Global with Skydance after David Ellison acquires National Amusements, Inc. (Nai) for about $2 billion.
The National Amusements theater chain has a controlling interest in Paramount. Skydance Media CEO Ellison is paying for that control, and then he’ll make Paramount buy his production company.
All told, it is expected to cost Ellison and his financial backers at RedBird Capital Partners in the ballpark of $8 billion to make this happen, as first reported by CNBC’s David Faber. On top of Shari Redstone’s $2 billion for her family’s Nai, $4.5 billion more will go to current Paramount shareholders; another $1.5 billion in cash will be contributed to Paramount’s balance sheet. The numbers are pretty fresh and could still change some, a person with knowledge of the goings-on tells IndieWire.

It's (almost) official: Paramount Pictures is the latest Hollywood studio to merge with another major player in the business. After months of speculation, with multiple potential buyers entering the fold, it has been confirmed that Skydance Media, the producer of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise, will merge with the longstanding studio, per CNBC. The news comes just ahead of Paramount's annual shareholder meeting on Tuesday, June 4. It's expected that the deal will be formally announced by the company during the meeting.
Skydance RedBird Capital and investment firm Kkr partnered on the deal. It is valued at around $8 billion, which is far less than some other major media mergers in recent years. Disney's purchase of most of Fox's media assets, for example, cost a whopping $71.3 billion in 2019. Even Amazon's more recent purchase of MGM in 2022 was valued at $8.5 billion. But that speaks in large part to why this deal is happening.

Late last year, there were rumblings of a possible merger being considered with two movie studio giants — Warner Bros. and Paramount. It was reported that Zaslav met with Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish in New York City to discuss a possible merger. The potential merger would bring many iconic entertainment franchises under one roof, including Star Trek, Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Transformers, Mission: Impossible, DC, and more. It would also likely see the two streaming services — Max and Paramount+ — combine in order to more effectively challenge Netflix and Disney+.
Wall Street analysts were skeptical of that deal and knew that both companies would have to jump through significant hurdles in order for the deal to go through. That deal would ultimately fall through, but the New York Post is now reporting on a merger that has been sealed. Paramount and Skydance have just agreed to terms that will see both...

In Simon Pegg’s immortal comedy series Spaced, his character Tim declares: “Every odd-numbered Star Trek movie is shit.” This is, of course, hilarious today, because Pegg was in two odd-numbered Trek films, and even co-wrote the 13th movie, 2016’s Star Trek Beyond. But, the fandom myth of the odd-numbered Star Trek “curse” almost certainly begins with 1984’s Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Released in movie theaters on June 1, 1984, the third Star Trek feature film was really the second part of what would become a trilogy of films, concluding with The Voyage Home in 1986. But, more than that, The Search for Spock was a pivotal moment in which the more mature aesthetic of Star Trek truly came into its own. Despite the unkind things said about The Search for Spock over the years, the truth is, the movie is perhaps more representative of the franchise as a whole...

Tom Cruise looks like he’s picked a remake of The Gauntlet as his first project once he’s finished Mission: Impossible 8.
Following the eventual completion of the next Mission: Impossible film, we’d imagine both Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie will want to take a nice, long holiday. After that, though? It looks like they’ll be reuniting for a remake of the 1977 Clint Eastwood thriller, The Gauntlet.
News of the project first leaked in April and seemed to confirm earlier hints McQuarrie had dropped about their next collaboration. Having previously described their next project as “gnarlier” than the Mission: Impossible films, McQuarrie also added that “It’s something we’ve talked about for a really long time. It’s way outside of what you’re used to seeing Tom do. It’s the kind of stuff I really love. It’s a little bit more in my wheelhouse.

Let’s just say that at this point, ‘Mission: Impossible’ can’t afford to keep having setbacks, but they do. After the double Hollywood strikes paused production on the blockbuster movie and led to a postponed release, malfunction with a £23 million submarine is adding further chaos into the mix.
Producers Are Not Happy About the Submarine Malfunction As Production Delays Lead To Massive Costs For Studio
‘Mission: Impossible’ has always used technological marvels to thrill fans and this time, they’re reportedly seeking to employ a submarine to continue this legacy.
This, of course, is not always easy to achieve as reports say that the gimbal, which is used to lower the 120ft-high structure, jammed under its weight, now needing repairs.
A source told The Mirror: “They’re not happy as it puts production behind, which costs a lot of money per day.”

The Mad Max franchise is unarguably one of the most popular action franchises of all time, created by mastermind George Miller. While the star power connected to it — which includes notable names like Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy, and Mel Gibson — is one factor behind its epic success, its breathtaking action sequences and stunt scenes further set the saga apart from every other.

That being said, in the highest-rated critically commended movie from Gibson’s original trilogy, i.e. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, there is a very brutal yet one of the most memorable stunt scenes that could have even resulted in the actor being taken down to surgery. In fact, that scene was brutal enough to rival even Tom Cruise’s ankle-breaking scene in Mission: Impossible – Fallout!

One celebrity who played a big part in Miller’s success was Charlize Theron who starred in the pivotal role of Furiosa in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

Jeremy Renner may have said goodbye to Mission: Impossible‘s world of espionage, but that doesn’t mean he would never return to the role of William Brandt.
The Hawkeye star entered the franchise in the 2011 installment, Ghost Protocol. At the end of 2015’s Rogue Nation, his character retired from his career in the Impossible Mission Force.

Top Gun fans waited over thirty years for Top Gun: Maverick, but the wait was well worth it. The film was an overwhelming success, earning rave reviews and grossing $1.4 billion worldwide. Considering those box-office bucks, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Paramount is developing Top Gun 3 with Tom Cruise expected to reprise his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell alongside Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw (Miles Teller) and Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin (Glen Powell).
Although we likely won’t have to wait as long as we did for Maverick, those involved with the threequel aren’t about to rush the project. After months of on-again-off-again haggling, Skydance Media submitted a newly revised offer for Paramount Global. The revised bid would reduce the amount Skydance and its financial partners would pay Shari Redstone, Paramount’s controlling shareholder, and reallocate that more equitably to the company’s nonvoting Class B shareholders, Variety has confirmed. Skydance would also put in more cash upfront to swing the deal, sources said.
The special committee established by Paramount’s board is currently reviewing Skydance’s revised proposal, sources said. Reps for Skydance and Paramount Global declined to comment. Reps for Nai and the Paramount board’s special committee did not respond to requests for comment. Skydance’s sweetened offer for Paramount was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The broad outlines remain the same on the offer from Skydance, headed by producer David Ellison, and financial backers RedBird Capital Partners and Kkr. Redstone would sell her stake in National Amusements Inc.
