Sergeant Oakes (as listed in the end credits) wears a Name Tag on his Uniform as STOKES, clearly visible when he picks up Bozz from the Stockade.
At the end, Bozz is tearing many pages out of Paxton's journal and throwing them off the bus. When the camera angle changes to Bozz's view of Paxton standing and watching the bus leave, there is very little paper on the ground.
In the final scene when Paxton comes out to meet the bus, he is wearing the Service Dress Green uniform. The uniform is missing the lapel insignia (brass disk with US) on both sides and the National Defense Service Medal. In addition, if he had successfully completed Infantry AIT, he would have blue disks behind the lapel insignia and there would be crossed rifles on the left disk. There would also be a woven blue cord over the right shoulder.
SGT Fillmore is giving a class on interrogation using a TA 312. The TA 312 is a field telephone yet Fillmore repeatedly calls it a radio.
In the final simulated combat training ambush, Wilson removes his magazine of blank rounds and inserts a magazine of live rounds. Wilson does not pull back the charging handle, however, so therefore would have either had an empty chamber or a blank round in the chamber and his weapon would have malfunctioned.
None of the soldiers reporting for AIT in 1971 are wearing the National Defense Service Medal (ribbon) on their khaki or service dress green uniforms. That medal/ribbon was only awarded after the soldier has completed AIT and is MOS qualified or has completed at least 6 months of active service. None of these soldiers fall into either category at this point of the film.
When Bozz brings the truck to a screeching halt with the can in the exhaust pipe, a modern clear plastic water bottle rolls across the truck floor.
The characters are seen drinking Miller Lite. That beer was not introduced until 1975.
The soldiers in this movie are being trained for combat in Vietnam. The current issue weapon of that time period was the M-16A1 rifle. This is different from the weapon seen on the movie poster as that is an older US Air Force M-16. This can be noted as the Air Force model has a three prong flash hider but the M-16A1 has a bird cage style flash hider which was the weapon used throughout the movie.
In AIT the troops are all wearing permanent press fatigues. These did not become standard issue until the mid-1970s.
When Bozz fights with Wilson in the barracks, kneepads can be seen under the stretched material of Wilson's fatigues. Elbow pads can also be seen on Wilson's left elbow through his open sleeve.
While at the pistol range, Wilson challenges Bozz with a M1911 .45 pistol. After the encounter, a SSG comments the pistol is 'jammed'. It is not jammed, as the slide is in battery so there is no stoppage of the weapon. It may be a misfire, but not a jam.
