I saw this film under the title KUNG FU GANGBUSTERS. It's a contemporary kung fu thriller in the Bruce Lee mould, written by Kuang Ni while he was moonlighting during his main work at the Shaw Brothers studio. There's another Shaw link in the presence of leading man Jason Pai Piao, here cast as a stock hero a few years before he would become a mainstay in the Shaw universe.
The plot of KUNG FU GANGBUSTERS is nothing special and involves the usual cops going up against drugs gangs. There's a little murder and violence thrown into the mix but for the most part this is straight action with various participants beating and bruising each other until the finish. A few chain poles are used as weapons here and there and Piao gives a typically intense performance which makes this rather better than you might expect given its vintage and genre.
