Indeed, isn’t it astonishing how the shifting nature of Tinseltwion, sometimes, has the power to both launch and sink careers, frequently relying on the schemes of powerful personalities colliding behind the camera? Having said that, egos can clash & friendships can be tested in the entertainment industry. And, in the case of old friends, Joss Whedon and Zak Penn, their working relationship during the production of The Avengers was no exception.
Zak Penn, having valiantly written narratives for cinematic titans (Incident at Loch Ness & The Incredible Hulk), once found himself wrestling with Joss Whedon’s insatiable ego. Unknowingly, this clash resulted in a stark moment of humiliation during the making of the 2012 flick, an event that would live on in Hollywood lore.

Undoubtedly, the superhero genre has become oversaturated. Whether it’s Marvel or DC, the sheer volume of content they churn out is astounding. With a plethora of options and an expansive ocean of material, audiences have begun to experience what’s known as superhero fatigue.
Kevin Smith (Gage Skidmore| Wikimedia Commons)
In light of this, Kevin Smith humorously likened DC and Marvel to herpes, not as an insult, but for their enduring and everlasting presence. Despite concerns of oversaturation, Smith believes that superhero movies will continue to thrive indefinitely. Here’s why.

Thanks to the Hulu on Disney+ experience, viewers can now find top heroes from the DC Universe and the MCU on one streamer.
Disney+ is an incredibly versatile streaming platform, one that offers much more than the kids content that most audiences immediately associate the company with. Its programming lineup got another big upgrade this year when the streamer officially launched the Hulu on Disney+ one-app experience for customers who subscribe to both services. Thanks to a licensing deal between Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, that arrangement means that Disney+ and Hulu subscribers can now watch films from the two biggest comic book-based franchises in U.S. media — DC and Marvel — on one streaming app.
Key Details Disney+ has been home to movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years but has never offered DC movies until now. Viewers can stream “The Batman” and “Joker” on Disney+ if they also have a Hulu subscription.

Kevin Feige had a far crazier idea for Avengers: Endgame climax inspired by the Toy Story 3 ending. Feige wanted to kill off all the six Og Avengers at the end of the film and proposed the idea to directors Russo brothers and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. However, they shot down the idea since the directors believed that they could not do justice to all these character deaths.

A concept for the character The Spot was shared on the game’s subreddit as a joke, and the character actually being included in the game would lead to some really fun chaos.

Robert Downey Jr. is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood working today. His cinematic glory was further complemented as the actor came fresh out of the 2024 Academy Awards claiming his first Oscars after being nominated three times. Of course, his recent performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is one of the best of his career but the credit to the actor will forever shine with golden words as he revolutionized the industry with his Iron Man role.

Yesterday evening, the news broke that Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is being eyed to helm Avengers 5. Marvel Studios must be pleased with the Merc with the Mouth's upcoming threequel, but the report also featured another major revelation.
Apparently, the movie - previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty - will feature upwards of 60 Marvel characters!
As you might have guessed, that got us thinking about who we'll see in Avengers 5. While Marvel Studios has already introduced hundreds of heroes and villains, not all of them would fit into this movie.
So, no, this isn't just a list of 60 MCU characters, it's our breakdown of who we believe would fit into the story as well as which corner of this shared world they hail from. There are bound to be some surprises and glaring omissions which upset some fans, but we think this is a pretty definitive list of exciting possibilities.

Robert Downey Jr. has cemented a strong legacy who literally rose from rock-bottom to gain worldwide fame with his Iron Man role in the MCU. Apart from his superhero role, he continued showcasing his versatile acting skills in different projects ranging from comedy to drama. In the new Ultimate Universe, The Maker (the original Ultimate Universe's twisted Mister Fantastic) used time travel to create his ideal Earth by systematically preventing anyone from ever becoming a superhero and by establishing a secret council of supervillains.
The Maker's Council rules the world from the shadows, but he's now gone, locked in his own facility, The City, by Howard Stark.
That's left Howard's teenage son, Tony, to take on the codename Iron Lad and team up with this world's Doom (a broken Reed Richards) to set things right. First, they stole the frozen Super-Soldier Captain America from the icy depths. Next, they broke the Asgardian God Thor out of prison and were followed by his warden, Sif.
However, the Maker's Council did not want Iron Lad unmaking the world they had built. Council member Captain Britain confronted the team, badly wounding Thor but losing an eye to Iron Lad.

Avengers, re-assemble!
Variety has reported that Shawn Levy, reliable director of “Night at the Museum,” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” is “in the mix” to helm the next “Avengers” superhero team-up for Marvel. In late July, his promised-to-be-potty-mouthed R-rated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit theaters and, clearly, Marvel’s leader, Kevin Feige, liked what he saw.
Marvel is in desperate need of a course correction after some wobbly entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “The Marvels,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There was once a time when the Marvel opening logo was enough to print money and create cultural resonance, but those days have begun to wane, due in part to a glut of Disney+ streaming shows and the fact that “Avengers: Endgame” really did seem like a nice place to end the story. It looks like the retooled Avengers 5 movie is starting to come together, with Marvel Studios eyeing Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy as the top choice to helm the film.
As first reported by Deadline, Levy has been given the latest script penned by Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Though Marvel is keeping other potential directors in the mix after Levy previously turned down the role in March, it sounds like the studio is doing everything it can to accommodate him.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the window of opportunity to land Levy comes after Marvel pushed the timetable for Avengers 5 by several months, which could allay any scheduling conflicts with the final season of Stranger Things.
Deadline also has some details about the script for Avengers 5. It previously was centered around Jonathan Majors’ character, Kang the Conqueror, until Marvel parted ways with the actor in December.

Hollywood, for the past seven years since 2018, has been seduced by Taylor Sheridan’s unbridled and unyielding talent for crafting worlds of greed, power, the Wild West, and neo-noir crime capers. It’s in the festival’s nature that numerous works and directors are lesser-known on American shores, though a cursory search has one regularly stopping: new films by Takeshi Kitano (Kubi), Shunji Iwai (Kyrie), Shinya Tsukamoto (Shadow of Fire), and Gakuryu Ishii (The Box Man) populate the selection. Meanwhile, Hideaki Anno’s modern classic Shin Godzilla debuts in a new, black-and-white cut Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic.
Its classics section is three-for-three: Ishii’s August in the Water, Shinji Somai’s Moving, and Toshiharu Ikeda Mermaid Legend, which is more or less one of the greatest films ever made. One can anticipate at least a couple of Japan Cuts’ current unknowns are tomorrow’s figureheads.

Well, for fellow Marvel aficionados and movie buffs, let’s delve into a little-known snippet of Iron Man lore—the curious case of Robert Downey Jr. mimicking Tom Cruise in a scrapped romantic scene from Iron Man 2 that we, the fans, will never forgive Marvel for omitting.
Yes, there was a sequence loaded with Tony Stark’s (Downey Jr.) trademark sarcasm, the ever-tenacious Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), & a heartfelt homage to an iconic moment from Cruise’s Jerry Maguire that didn’t see the light of the final cut. Did you know this deleted opener for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 could’ve shown an uncharacteristically vulnerable side of Tony Stark?

Iron Man with its debut in 2008 had already shown the industry the immense potential of a superhero franchise, and Reynolds understood that he needed to secure such a role to elevate his career to that level.

James Corden briefly came under fire after a photo emerged online showing the former talk show host having a tense exchange with a British Airways staff member after a nightmare flight from Portugal. The incident reportedly occurred after James Corden, who was set to travel from Faro to London Heathrow, faced a significant delay alongside other passengers.
In the picture circulated on social media, the Gavin & Stacey co-creator and star appeared slightly annoyed during his discussion with a crew member. The image went viral online, with people accusing the star of losing his temper with a staff member. Netizens pointed out the recent incident was reminiscent of the British actor clashing with service staff in 2022, which led him to be banned from a New York restaurant.
As the backlash intensified, James Corden’s fellow passengers came to his defense and provided some context to the online picture.

Robert Downey Jr. is "surprisingly open-minded" to a return as Iron Man.The 59-year-old actor played the superhero for more than a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and would consider a comeback as the character because the role is in his "DNA".In conversation with Jodie Foster for Variety's Actors on Actors series, Robert said about putting on Iron Man's suit again: "It's just crazily in my DNA. Probably the most like-me character I've ever played, even though he's way cooler than I am. I've become surprisingly open-minded to the idea."It is not the first time that Robert has discussed coming back as Iron Man as he revealed earlier this year that he would "happily" play the role again even though the character was killed off in the 2019 movie 'Avengers: Endgame'.Downey Jr. told Esquire magazine in April: "It’s too integral a part of my DNA.

Robert Downey Jr Weighs In On Potential Return Of Iron Man. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
It’s been nearly five years since Robert Downey suited up as Iron Man. The gap might seem relatively small in human years, but it’s astronomical in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) years, considering they dole out a superhero movie/series every fortnight.
Robert Downey Jr. has portrayed the iconic character for over a decade and has endeared himself to fans worldwide. So, it was unsurprising that the character’s death in the third act of Avengers: Endgame left fans heartbroken. The devastation was exacerbated by the stark reality that they might never see Robert Downey Jr. play Tony Stark, aka Iron Man.
In the ensuing years since he departed from the MCU universe, whispers about his return have often sent fans into a tizzy. So, the recent news alluding to the possibility of Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. led the Avengers in the Infinity Saga as Tony Stark/ Iron Man for a decade. Following his introduction in Iron Man, he slowly assembled the original six Avengers with the help of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Iron Man would assemble for the first time in 2012’s The Avengers.

Giving closures to these six members was one of the major plotlines of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Since then, Iron Man and Black Widow sacrificed themselves for the greater good, while Hulk, Thor, and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye have gone on their own adventures post-Endgame. With audiences clamoring for a reunion of them in some way, Renner really wants it to happen down the line.

Robert Downey Jr. set the tone for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe with his portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man, but after more than a decade, the actor bid farewell to the role in Avengers: Endgame. While it may seem like Downey Jr. has moved on from Marvel, he has been more vocal about his willingness to return over the last year.
While speaking with Jodie Foster for Variety’s Actors on Actors, Downey Jr. said he was “surprisingly open-minded” to returning as Tony Stark. “It’s just crazily in my DNA. Robert Downey Jr. first played Tony Stark in 2008's Iron Man, a movie which turns 16 this year. He'd go on to reprise the role in several MCU movies, ultimately bidding farewell to the Armoured Avenger in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
It's been five years since the actor snapped his fingers and bid farewell to the role. Since then, Downey has won an Oscar for his work in Oppenheimer and all eyes are on what he does next.
Surprisingly, it seems an MCU return is somewhere on his list (and these comments come just hours after Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner also expressed an interest in reuniting with his fellow original Avengers).
Talking to Jodie Foster for Variety, Downey was asked if he'd consider suiting up again. "It’s just crazily in my DNA. Probably the most like-me character I’ve ever played, even though he’s way cooler than I am," the actor responded.

The Avengers is effortlessly one of the biggest fan favorites and best pieces of work created during the reign of Kevin Feige by Marvel Studios. Yet, as much of an utter piece of masterwork as it was with its set of heroes and the most perfect villain, not everything and everyone that filmmaker Joss Whedon had initially decided was included in it.

For instance, when it comes to the villain in the movie, Whedon originally had different plans. Instead of including just Tom Hiddleston’s Loki as the film’s iconic villain as he ended up being, he wanted to bring in another prominent antagonist, though this one would have been from Iron Man’s arc in the comics. However, Feige refused, and that was that.

While audiences may find it difficult to watch, the true challenge lies in the actor’s experience of bringing such intense moments to life on screen. Thus, it is important to applaud the tremendous courage it took for Foster to confront and execute that particularly harrowing scene where she had to fall through the ice.

It’s great to be alive if you are a Marvel fan! Though there was a period of darkness following several box office bombs, it seems like we are finally going to get some quality pieces. Venom: The Last Dance has finally released its first trailer which dives into Eddie Brock/ Venom’s journey as it comes to an end. “Eddie… my home has found me,” the symbiote Venom warns his host Eddie Brock in the first trailer for the third Venom movie, Venom: The Last Dance. For the longest time, that statement wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
After all, Venom’s “home” was Battleworld, the planet where the Beyonder took a cadre of heroes and villains in the 1984 Marvel Comics crossover Secret Wars. When Spider-Man’s costume was ruined, a machine on Battleworld created a new one for him, which later revealed itself to be a malevolent symbiote. When Peter abandoned the suit, it bonded with the equally aggrieved photographer Eddie Brock and became Venom.
Simple, right? So simple that the origin stayed pretty much the same over the years, even as guys like Carnage showed up. Alternate versions of the Venom story, such as Spider-Man 3 or the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video game, found...

It’s not news that Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic character Tony Stark is widely considered one of the most powerful and, well, egoistic characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While his extraordinary smarts are what set him apart from every other superhero, the lifestyle he leads and the personality he sports — especially at the beginning of his tenure — further contributed to it.

However, while he manages to turn into a softie in the later events of his story arc in the Cinematic Universe, especially around Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, he does set his ego aside for one other Marvel character as well.
In fact, not only this but on closer observation, one would realize that he actually even breaks his rule for this very character too: Howard Stark, i.e. Tony’s dad.

With the Multiverse Saga failing to connect with audiences in the way Marvel Studios hoped, none of us were surprised to learn Kevin Feige is thinking about reassembling the original six Avengers.
The Infinity Saga was built around Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and The Hulk. While some of them would almost certainly be Variants, that team is certainly one way to get people back into theaters for the next Avengers movies.
Talking to Josh Horowitz, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner was asked for his thoughts on getting the gang back together.

His character’s journey from selfish playboy to selfless hero was truly inspiring, and his ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame will forever be remembered as a key moment in the MCU.

There is simply an unfathomable amount of heroic acts that Marvel’s Avengers have committed, with respect to effectively all of their different iterations. While live-action and animated adaptations often end up giving a sense of originality to these stories, the fact that there exists around 30,000 different comics arcs means that the source material will always be several steps ahead.

Whatever movie and series fans see, the comic readers have already lived through, in a number of ways and with respect to effectively every character ever created. This also includes a range of not-so-mundane storylines that have also been a part of the narrative in the past.

You probably know that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was the big bad of 2012's "The Avengers" and his role there is why he's still the defining villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not even Thanos can say he got his own TV series like Loki did! It's not just the God of Mischief being in the right place at the right time, though.
"Avengers" writer/director Joss Whedon overhauled Loki, turning the meek sad boy from 2011's "Thor" into a wickedly charismatic megalomaniac. Hiddleston took that change and ran with it, proving he can wield an evil grin as effectively as he can puppy dog eyes along the way. Every subsequent Loki appearance has been trying to meld the two characterizations; Loki's an evil bastard, but he does love his mum and big brother Thor (even if he loves himself a bit more).
Loki (really Hiddleston) holds the screen all on his own in "The Avengers.

While Robert Downey Jr.’s journey as the sardonic industrialist-turned-superhero may have come to a lamentable end, not all hope is lost. At least not for the astute London-based detective renowned for his logical prowess and brilliant skills.

That’s right, Downey Jr. may very well make a comeback as the world-famous detective, and his wife, Susan Downey Jr. most certainly has her fingers crossed for it.
Will Robert Downey Jr. Return As the Ingenious Detective?
Much like Iron Man – a character that continues to live in fans’ hearts to this very date – Arthur Conan Doyle’s eminent creation of Sherlock Holmes is inarguably one of a kind. And when someone as gifted as Robert Downey Jr. takes on the character, well, that’s one surefire way to leave an indelible mark on the audience.
