Hammerfall have announced their 13th studio album, Avenge the Fallen, arriving August 9th via Nuclear Blast Records.
The Swedish power metal vets also offered up the lead single “Hail to the King,” a classic mid-tempo heavy metal march with a shimmering vocal performance from armor-clad frontman Joacim Cans.

The song itself was conceived while Hammerfall were on tour, brushing shoulders with some of their fellow metal icons.
“I began working on ‘Hail to the King’ while on tour in the US with Helloween,” recalled guitarist Oscar Dronjak via a press release. “By the end of the tour, I was getting close to wrapping the song up, so straight after the Los Angeles gig I headed to the bus where I worked like a mad man to get the last pieces together.”
He continued: “That turned out to be the show where one of my favorite wrestlers,...

Lords of the Fallen was a title that received mixed reviews; while it was appreciated for offering two playable worlds that felt distinct, it didn’t meet the expectations that were set by it. The title’s performance-related issues did not help its case, either.
It was released in 2023, but its latest update will make the game even more fun for individuals who enjoy its current offering. Its latest update, Master of Fate, is part of the elaborate post-launch roadmap by Hexworks, which makes general fixes and adds an all-new Roguelite element to the game.
Lords Of The Fallen Couldn’t Dethrone Elden Ring but Now Offers a Roguelite Mode for Free Lords of the Fallen‘s new update has a lot of exciting offerings for new and veteran fans.

President Donald Trump has nothing but respect for the troops. Unless it’s sprinkling. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were scheduled to appear at the Ainse-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial in northern France, the site of one of the bloodiest World War I battles, but cancelled allegedly due to weather.
Trump was supposed to attend the event along with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who did attend, but the president decided not to go because it was raining in Paris. The White House said Trump...

“Justice League” star Henry Cavill will lead the cast of Netflix’s “The Witcher” saga, playing the role of Geralt of Rivia, the streamer announced Tuesday.
Here’s the logline for the series: Based on the best-selling fantasy series, “The Witcher” is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
The eight-episode series hails from “Marvel’s Daredevil” alum Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who will executive produce and act as showrunner. Alik Sakharov will direct four episodes, including the pilot, and executive produce. Alex Garcia Lopez and Charlotte Brändström will each direct two episodes.

It’s been almost a week dodging raindrops and “No Selfies on the Red Carpet” warnings at the Cannes Film Festival, where all cylinders seem to be firing for filmmakers, sales agents and news-making stars in town.
The banished-ish Lars von Trier returns to the festival after a seven year absence over a press conference blunder where the director said he had some sympathy for Adolf Hitler.
His latest, “The House That Jack Built,” has a first look trailer — and, as social media tells it, has festival organizers preparing for extreme reactions from the crowd.

Elsewhere, the conversation about former Cannes stalwart Harvey Weinstein continues, as embedded festival media reflect on his absence. In diametric opposition, the gender parity conversation moves from the red carpet to the big screen as films shine light on a world fighting the patriarchy.

Hasbro and Machinima have announced some great casting for their animated series, Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy. After last week’s brilliant new releases in the home entertainment market, headed up by Steve McQueen’s Shame and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (I bought them both on Blu-ray, the latter in HMV’s exclusive steelbook special edition), this week sees another great slew of titles for us to add to our collections.
As ever, we have not just the brand new films and TV shows making their way to shelves for the first time, but also single-disc Blu-ray editions (which we’re increasingly seeing within a few months of the Double / Triple Play versions), and a host of films getting the HD treatment, released on Blu-ray for the first time, with Disney releasing a handful of old titles in the visually beautiful format.
Stay tuned for next week (and be sure to get your pre-orders in early), which will see Chornicle, Coriolanus, Martha Marcy May Marlene,...
