When Jordan Mechner developed the Prince of Persia game in 1989, no one knew the seismic shift in the world of gaming and film that was to follow. Over the next several years, 2 sequels were developed and the franchise reached new heights. Fans fell in love with the mythos and story of the Prince of Persia, leading to the classic PS2-era video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a game that brought forth a whole new generation of fans. By 2004, when the film rights to the video game were purchased but it wasn’t until 2010 that

The BAFTA Game Awards are a celebration of talent and contributions to the entertainment industry, and voice actors like Yuri Lowenthal and Neil Newbon are soaking up the rare occasion. The gaming community naturally assumes that there is a secret rivalry between the two yet the opposite is shown in public.
Both actors were also in the running for Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards last year for best performer and while Neil took home the trophy, Yuri was still a winner in the hearts and eyes of fans.
Voice Actors Of Astarian And Spider-Man Shared A Hug During The BAFTA
Yuri Lowenthal is the voice actor of Insomniac Games’ Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man.
During the red carpet, GamingBible was able to capture a wholesome interaction between the Spider-Man and Astorian voice actors. It is truly a magnificent sight to see two powerhouses of voice acting acknowledge each other’s talent and support one another.

The recent critical acclaim for HBO’s The Last of Us and the box office success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie have sparked a wave of optimism. Could this be a turning point for video game adaptations?

With Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, developer Ubisoft Montpellier doesn’t exactly take the franchise back to its roots. It’s more of a Metroidvania-style game whereas the original Prince of Persia titles were closer to dungeon-crawler action-adventure titles. Even Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (the 2003 game that formerly revitalized the series) was a 3D action-adventure title that famously added advanced combat and time manipulation to a modified version of the original franchise formula.
Yet, you may still hear a lot of people refer to The Lost Crown as a return to Prince of Persia’s glory days. Is that a simple case of people misremembering the origins of a franchise that has been relatively dormant (or cast in shadow) for quite a long time? In some instances, perhaps it is. More often than not, though, it’s the simplest and most enthusiastic way to acknowledge how...

Walt Disney Studios has had a pretty abysmal year at the international box office in 2023. Between Ant-Man: Quantumania, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and perhaps most disappointing, The Marvels, the typically successful movie studio has lost an ungodly amount of money by producing overly expensive feature films that failed to resonate among the masses and earn back their financial investments. If the studio isn’t careful and the trend continues, Disney could break another record for the all-time biggest box-office bomb on record.
Speaking of which, what would your answer be if you had to guess Disney’s most notorious financial flop of all time? Well, up until recently, the correct response would have been John Carter, the disastrous 2012 adaptation of Edgar Rice Boroughs’ A Princes of Mars. However, after tallying up the receipts in 2023, Disney’s most infamous box office failure now belongs to The Lone Ranger,...

It’s 2010, and Gemma Arterton is describing to Empire Magazine having spent an entire day shooting kidnap thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed in tears. “Your body’s not supposed to cry that much. It is exhausting.” Martin Compston, her co-star in the crying scene, agrees in earnest and the interviewer jokes off-camera, “So what you’re saying is: feel-good hit of the summer?”
Compston laughs, “Yeah, Disney Channel!” and Arterton repeats the gag, shaking her head at its ridiculousness “Disney Channel!”
13 years, a brand shift and a streaming revolution later, and Disney is now the UK home of The Disappearance of Alice Creed. Disney+ is also the UK home of writer-director J Blakeson’s latest collaboration with Arterton: TV thriller Culprits, which is out on Hulu in the US.
That eight-part series is the story of consequences catching up with the diverse crew who pulled off a mega-money heist years earlier.

Jake Gyllenhaal just released his first work as an author, the children’s book “The Secret Society of Aunts and Uncles,” and it includes an unexpected reference to one of his biggest movie failures: Disney’s 2010 video game adaptation “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.” Gyllenhaal’s lead role in the film is often cited in conversations about Hollywood whitewashing.
“The Secret Society of Aunts and Uncles,” co-written by Gyllenhaal and his best friend Greta Caruso, follows a 10-year-old aspiring dancer who goes on an adventure with his uncle. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, book illustrator Dan Santat snuck in a “Prince of Persia” Easter egg during a moment where the boy struggles to dance in front of an audience. An audience member is seen holding a playbill for a show titled “The Persians,” a nod to Gyllenhaal’s “Prince of Persia” flop. Gyllenhaal described the moment in the...

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” promises to put Universal on the animation throne long occupied by Disney. It also shows that video games, not comic books, are where Hollywood should be sniffing around for new franchises.
With a comparatively modest $100 million budget, Universal and Illumination’s video game adaptation shattered box office records for animated movies, earning $204 million domestically and $376 million worldwide over the long Easter weekend. But the movie also set a record for box office derived from a character that audiences likely first encountered in an arcade or on a console.
“I think we are going to see a lot more video games being made into movies,” Gerber Kawasaki CEO Ross Gerber told TheWrap. “’Super Mario Bros.’ is huge and kids relate to gaming characters. I expect way more of this.”
There’s only so long that studios can get away with rebooting “Spider-Man” or spinning off of “Star Wars.

The ‘80s were an incredibly innovative and fast-paced time for video games. Arcades were king, with iconic classics like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Dragon’s Lair being released every few months. Atari’s poor business decisions briefly crashed the home console market until Nintendo resurrected it with the Nes, starting a new boom that never really slowed down.
And then there was the home PC: a then-nascent technology that few even thought was suitable for gaming as it was just starting to find an identity beyond text-based titles. The history of PC gaming in this era is full of starts and stops, games that seemed to be the next big thing that never quite clicked, and those that laid foundations for ideas that still stand decades later. Yet, some of those games have held up incredibly well, and indeed feel like they should have been released years later than they actually were.

Video game adaptations: one of cinema’s most hated-on subgenres. Whenever another beloved controllable franchise is announced for moviegoing treatment, eyes roll. Critics quiver. Visions of Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne or Uwe Boll’s crimes against both gamersphere credibility and audience standards montage a hard-fast argument for such scoffs.
Fantastical play-alongs turned theatrical try-hards have long become the butt of many online jokes, and while titles such as Detective Pikachu and both Sonic the Hedgehog films disprove “cursed” trends, I’d argue that not all video game adaptations are created equal.
Horror video game adaptations maketh the best video game adaptations, and that’s by an Arklay country mile.
“But Matt…House of the Dead?”

When you revisit some of the biggest blockbusters of the past few decades, there's a huge chance that Jerry Bruckheimer was backing it up. The prolific producer built his production company with Don Simpson with hits like "Beverly Hills Cop," "Top Gun," and "Bad Boys," until his business partner sadly passed away in 1996. Since then, Bruckheimer continued his winning streak with "Con Air," "Armageddon," and countless others. If you saw that production logo lightning strike at the top of the film, you knew you were in for a ride.
Bruckheimer largely stuck to the world of television throughout the 2010s, after Disney had let him go for the commercial disappointments of "Prince of Persia" and "The Lone Ranger." He never stopped producing, but the release of last year's "Top Gun: Maverick" saw the Hollywood powerhouse make one hell of a return with the kind of big-screen action spectacle that made his career.

There have been a few comic book ideas that didn’t appear to work when they were brought to the big or small screens, either because there wasn’t enough material to draw from or because the main characters weren’t created in a dominant fashion that allowed them to stick around that long. Cloak and Dagger are an interesting pair, but the truth is that even in the comics, their popularity started to wane despite the fact that they have opposing powers that are rather interesting when one truly examines what they can do and what they’re all about. The duo

While properties such as Marvel and DC Comics sport countless characters who shine on their own, arguably some of the most memorable stories feature disparate heroes banding together to take down threats larger than anyone can handle alone.

While the first trailer for “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” focused on Jack Black’s King Koopa/Bowser and the visual splendor of the Mushroom Kingdom, this second look offers up a better, longer look at Mario himself. The spot offers a mix of high fantasy adventure tropes and IP-specific beats like Mario being thrashed by Donkey Kong, Mario wearing the raccoon suit and a final beat featuring essentially a massive game of “Mario Kart.” “Super Smash Bros.” may have to wait until the sequel.
That closer look includes Chris Pratt’s preemptively controversial vocals, which mostly sound like, well, Chris Pratt playing a blue collar plumber who embarks on a fantastical adventure. The notion of Chris Pratt voicing Mario is one of those things where the perpetually online rant and whine but general audiences either don’t care or approve of the choice because they like the actor.

“Full, healthy hair is seen as a sign of beauty,” says Miriam Bloch, celebrity wig designer and founder of The Wig Addiction hair care products.
But what if that mane is starting to wane?
While hair loss is often thought to primarily affect men, according to the American Hair Loss Association, nearly 40 percent of those experiencing it are women.
The fault lies with a variety of factors. “Hormonal changes, genetics, stressors, diet, environment, disease, illness and medications can all contribute to hair loss and thinning,” says dermatologist and hair surgeon Craig Ziering. “And for those who engage in tension-creating hairstyles, excessive use of heated tools, color and chemicals, this can lead over time to follicle damage and destruction, leading to thin, weak hair.” In other words, consider dumping daily use of that flat iron.
Time is of the essence though when dealing with the problem.

Of all the histrionics over changes made to author J.R.R. Tolkien's source material in "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" — new, original characters, a (potential) new origin for a key piece of Middle-earth lore, and other differences that inevitably come up when translating a story to another medium altogether — one particular addition largely flew under the radar. While Morfyyd Clark's portrayal of the elf warrior Galadriel caused no shortage of hot takes and strong opinions, the series creators managed to weave a rather touching and poignant storyline revolving around a recurring item never mentioned by Tolkien.
Throughout the first season, Galadriel's dagger (which originally belonged to her late brother Finrod) symbolized all of the character's rage and need for vengeance against Sauron. That dagger was the first thing Galadriel grabbed while turning her back on the Undying Lands of Valinor and returning to Middle-earth at the end of the premiere.

Science fiction franchises live and die based on the response that they get from fans. The passionate fans of franchises like Marvel, DC, "Star Wars," "Star Trek," "Doctor Who," and "Battlestar Galactica" are known for making their opinions heard. In the era of social media, there is more opportunity than ever before for fans to discuss the franchises that they love. Audiences flock to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Letterboxd to urge studios to make decisions.
Like all elements of fan culture, petitions and requests have a dark side. While it's understandable to be upset with a creative decision, harassing the actors, writers, and directors is never okay. The discourse around some franchises like "Star Wars" has become dominated by a toxic minority that makes sexist, racist, and xenophobic remarks. It's important to remember that these detractors do not represent the entire fan community. Studios should not feel that they have...

The upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, will feature an extensive ensemble cast. Even though the focus of House of the Dragon will primarily be on the Targaryens and their bloody civil war, there are plenty of characters outside the titular house of dragons that will help expand the world of Westeros during this time period. Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, we get to see familiar houses and families at different stages of power, as well as powerful houses like the Velaryons who are all but wiped out by the time Game of Thrones begins. Like its predecessor, House of the Dragon will likely have plenty of drama, conspiracy, and questionable relationships between its characters as the season moves forward, but here’s what we know about the main cast so far.

When Steve Toussaint was sent some script pages to audition for a mysterious new TV project, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the words were somehow familiar.
“I will not breathe further life into a malicious lie by discussing it,” read part of the script. “I don’t care what people believe — and neither do you.”
“It was so weird, I kept thinking this voice sounds like Charles Dance as I read them,” Toussaint recalls.
And for good reason. The lines were from a scene from Game of Thrones season 3 where Dance’s character Tywin Lannister faces off with Diana Rigg’s Olenna Tyrell. The audition was for the Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, where Toussaint was unknowingly trying out for Lord Corlys Velaryon — who, like Tywin in the original series, is the wealthiest lord in Westeros.

James Norton is no stranger to playing less than salubrious characters thanks to his turns as psychopath Tommy Lee Royce in “Happy Valley” and a Russian mafia boss’s son in “McMafia.” In “Rogue Agent” he once again steps into the skin of a man whose moral compass is, to put it lightly, skewed. Based on a true story, “Rogue Agent” tells the almost unbelievable tale of Robert Freegard, a British car salesman who seduced at least seven women and exploited many more (including two men) in the 1990s by claiming he was an MI5 spy looking for new recruits.
As well as conning his victims out of more than a million pounds, Freegard also isolated them from their families, made them undertake bizarre “training missions,” such as sleeping in the street for days at a time, and persuaded them to go on the run with him, claiming they were being pursued by terrorists.

A star of “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” has detailed racist abuse he received online.

Lead star Steve Toussaint said he endured racist messages from so-called fans upon his casting announcement.
“I didn’t realize [the casting] was a big deal until I was racially abused on social media,” Toussaint told The Hollywood Reporter. “Yeah, that shit happened. I was just like, ‘Oh wow,’ and then I thought, ‘Ok, so this means a lot to some people, but I can’t allow that to bother me.'”
Toussaint further remarked that while the realm of “Game of Thrones” is a fantasy, “it still has to reflect a world.”

The “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” at HBO is adding four new actors to its cast.
Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno are all joining the highly-anticipated prequel to the megahit HBO show. They join previously announced stars Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, and Matt Smith.
“House of the Dragon” is set a few hundred years prior to the events of “Game of Thrones” and tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war that became known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”
Toussaint will star as Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Sea Snake.” Lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen. As “The Sea Snake,” the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros, Lord Corlys built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world.
