The doctor-turned-comedian has starred in films from The Hangover to Crazy Rich Asians, been a judge on The Masked Singer and still assists with the odd medical emergency. What would you like to ask him?
It seems every country needs a medical doctor-turned-comedian. The UK has Harry Hill, Monty Python’s Graham Chapman and the Goodies’ Graeme Garden. The US has Ken Jeong MD, who practiced as a physician of internal medicine in Los Angeles while trying to get his stand-up and improv career off the ground. (He maintains his medical licence and has assisted with medical emergencies since. He’s got some good stories on this!)
Jeong got his big break in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up, and then went to on play a flamboyant gangster in The Hangover and two sequels. He’s since starred opposite Paul Rudd in Role Models, Brendan Fraser in Furry Vengeance and was in Crazy Rich Asians.

A number of great movies are leaving HBO Max at the end of March, so it’s time to prioritize these titles in your queue. Filmmaker James Gunn’s sequel/soft reboot “The Suicide Squad” will depart the streaming service on March 22 after first hitting HBO Max the same day it was released in theaters back in 2021. Similarly, “Space Jam: A New Legacy” was whisked away on March 1 after also getting a day-and-date release in 2021 (sorry/not sorry if you missed it).
You also only have until March 7 to stream “Just a Boy From Tupelo: Bringing Elvis to the Big Screen,” a short documentary on the making of the Oscar-nominated biopic “Elvis.”
Other noteworthy films leaving HBO Max this month include “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Contagion,” the extended version of “Dances with Wolves,” “Ghostbusters,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Love & Basketball” and “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

It’s great to see the Brenaissance happen. Oscar nominee Brendan Fraser has been a joy to watch in movies since 1992’s Encino Man. Although the Oscars tend to overlook comedy, Fraser has done strong dramatic work long before The Whale. However, it’s great to see his performance in The Whale recognized.

Long regarded as one of Hollywood’s genuine good men, Brendan Fraser saw a meteoric rise to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. During this time, Fraser starred in a true blockbuster franchise with The Mummy trilogy. And he was also lauded for roles in highly acclaimed dramas like The Quiet American and Gods and Monsters. But not every movie has been a hit. And when Fraser was working on Furry Vengeance, he reconsidered his career.

In a time where the Internet has not been able to agree on anything, one thing has seemingly united everyone: Brendan Fraser. At the end of the 20th Century, Fraser was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, where he was able to match his matinee idol looks with a light-hearted, goofy persona that endeared him to millions most notably in "The Mummy" films. Once the 2000s rolled around, Fraser was on quite a losing streak. You had Harold Ramis' remake of "Bedazzled," the reviled Best Picture winner "Crash," the underrated but underperforming "Looney Tunes: Back in Action," and the grisly one-two punch of "Extraordinary Measures" and "Furry Vengeance" in 2010 basically cementing his time as a Hollywood leading man as over.

Brendan Fraser has been shown an overwhelming amount of support for a comeback since his blockbuster career fizzled with movies like Furry Vengeance and Extraordinary Measures. He’s been getting acclaim for his performance in the DC show Doom Patrol, and now he looks to make a triumphant return to movies in the new Darren Aronofsky film, The Whale. The Whale is a relatively straightforward tale about an online English teacher who lives as a recluse with life-threatening obesity and needs to find closure with his estranged daughter.
Fraser recently spoke with Vanity Fair about his dramatic transformation (in more ways than one). The actor tells of Aronofsky’s choice to cast him,
He said he wanted an actor to reintroduce. And I wanted to be reintroduced. If there’s no risk, then why bother? I want to learn from the people I’m working with at this point in my career.

With movie theaters fully back up and running, HBO Max no longer has any major film releases to point to with its list of new releases for May 2022. That’s alright though as the streamer is leaning into the HBO side of its branding to offer up some fun TV releases.
The biggest HBO Max original this month is undoubtedly the return of Hacks on May 12. The first season of this comedy starred Jean Smart as a venerated Vegas comedy and Hannah Einbinder as her new millennial assistant. The first batch of episodes was excellent and even won an Emmy or two for its troubles and now season 2 will look to keep up the good vibes.
Premiering on May 15, is The Time Traveler’s Wife. This series adaptation of the 2003 novel (which in turn became a a 2009 movie) keeps up with two star-crossed lovers who can never quite make the timing work…...

When you’re a streaming service, there’s only one way to celebrate the New Year. And that’s by IP mining to bring back a franchise that had no business in coming back!
With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.
Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. Storied stuntman Ernie F. Orsatti, who is best known for falling 30 feet through a glass skylight in the 1972 film “The Poseidon Adventure,” has died. He was 80.
The Stunt Players Directory Facebook page confirmed his death, writing: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of legendary stuntman Ernie Orsatti. His impeccable work and contributions to the stunt community will live forever.” His son, Noon Orsatti, told The Hollywood Reporter that his father died on Sep. 12 in La Quinta, Calif., after experiencing a hemorrhagic stroke.
Orsatti got his start as a stuntman while acting in the disaster film “The Poseidon Adventure” in 1972 as Terry, the date of Pamela Sue Martin’s character. The film’s producer, Irwin Allen, informed Orsatti the day before the stunt was scheduled that he was to perform it, even though he had no experience in the field. There are few surefire successes in television. It just so happens that with its new releases for May 2020, Hulu almost certainly found itself one. May 8 sees the debut of all eight episodes of Solar Opposites, the latest sci-fi animated effort from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. This is a brand new story featuring a family of aliens crashing to Earth and learning to live amongst the rest of us weirdos. But the animation style and sci-fi themes hew so closely to Rick and Morty that there’s no way this won’t be a hit.
On the off chance Solar Opposites doesn’t set the world ablaze, Hulu has some other intriguing content lottery tickets for May. The Great premieres on May 15 and is a comedic period piece about Catherine the Great starring Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult. You can’t accuse Hulu of not taking big swings this month!

Composer Edward Shearmur was eager to work on “Escape at Dannemora” because it was “asking for a different approach musically” than much of what he had worked on before. Horror fans have been looking forward to seeing Mike Flanagan's Before I Wake since the film was teased in trailers back in 2015, but bankruptcy issues at Relativity Media delayed and ultimately brought the movie's release to a halt. Since that time, Flanagan directed two well-received films for Netflix, and the streaming service has now revealed that they will bring Before I Wake out of film purgatory and into the warm glow of the TV screen.
Netflix revealed the exciting Before I Wake news in their full announcement of titles being added to their streaming lineup in January of 2018. Starring Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, and Kate Bosworth, Before I Wake will be available to watch on the streaming service beginning Friday, January 5th, marking its first official release in the Us (it was previously released internationally, including in the UK by Netflix).

Say this for 2018: It can’t be any worse than 2017, right? (Spoiler: It totally can.) At least Netflix’s first batch of offerings inspires cautious optimism in the new year, with everything from the entire “Godfather” trilogy, “Marie Antoinette,” five different “Batman” films and five different “Bring It On” movies (did you even know they’d made that many?), “Midnight in Paris,” the complete “Lethal Weapon” collection, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” and “The Truman Show” coming to the streaming service in January.

As for Netflix Originals, there are several: “Before I Wake” and “Rotten” are both available to stream as of January 5, “Somebody Feed Phil” and “The Polka King” premiere a week later, “The Open House” arrives on the 19th, and “A Futile and Stupid Gesture” and “Dirty Money” both debut on the 26th.

Brendan Fraser seemed on the verge of being a major movie star in the late 1990s. But it never came to be. We look at why…
I remember going in to watch 1994’s Airheads at the cinema, at the time tempted to do so more by the name of Michael Lehmann on the end credits than Adam Sandler and Brendan Fraser above the title. Steve Buscemi’s presence helped too, of course. But Lehmann had, after all, come to the project off the back of the unfairly maligned Hudson Hawk, and also, this is the man who gave the world Heathers. Can’t grumble with that.
I’d not seen Brendan Fraser on the big screen before, although even by this stage, he’d earned some currency. Encino Man – California Man in the UK – had overcome savage reviews to prove a decent hit. School Ties, that I...

Here's everything coming to Amazon Prime instant video in July 2019!
Amazon Prime is on a good pace of releasing at least one notable original series per month. For Amazon Prime's new releases for July 2019, that honor goes to dark superhero dramedy The Boys.
The series, based on the Garth Ennis book of the same name, stars Karl Urban and arrives on July 26. And that's about it for Amazon's originals! Unless you are a big All or Nothing fan.
And that's alright as the movie offerings for July should keep plenty of folks occupied. David Robert Mitchell's moody It Follows followup Under the Silver Lake arrives on July 1. Gone Baby Gone, Hellboy, and Serenity all arrive mid-month.
Then as new traditions demand, the lion's share of content arrives at the end of the month. Rosemary's Baby, Corpse Bride, and Dumb and Dumber premiere on July 31 - an...

Whether it's 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' or 'Kingdom Of The Spiders', movies love showing how nature wants us dead.
This weekend, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes managed to take control of the weekend box office, raking in $73 million dollars. The film follows a group of super-intelligent apes who take over the world, and a rogue group of surviving humans who are fighting to stay alive.
While people seem to be loving this particular entry into the 'animals destroy humanity' genre, most movies that show the rise of a deadly species are super-campy creature features that are good only because of how wonderfully bad they are.

The onslaught of adaptations of Young Adult fiction continues with The D.U.F.F – an upcoming movie from CBS Films, which has just added award-winning Allison Janney to its cast. Based on the debut novel of author Kody Keplinger, the film has Academy Award winner Ari Sandel (Aim High) on board to direct, from a screenplay penned by Josh A. Cagan (Undergrads).
With Mae Whitman (Arrested Development) in the lead role, the story sees a high school senior devastated as her happy world is shaken by the realization that her fellow students routinely refer to her as The D.U.F.F (Designated Ugly Fat Friend to pretty students). Incensed, she drafts in the help of a male friend (Robbie Amell from The Tomorrow People) to aid in her personal reinvention, as she moves to undermine the school’s ruthless label maker (Bella Thorne from Blended).

This weekend sees the release of Escape from Planet Earth, a family film that follows a hapless alien who’s trapped on the dangerous Planet Earth, and his attempt to escape a horrible fate at the hands of the humans. Brendan Fraser provides the voice of Scorch Supernova, the blue-skinned extraterrestrial hero, in a role that sees the loveable actor continue his run of family-friendly movies after Furry Vengeance and Inkheart, and as an aside to his more independent, serious fare such as Gimme Shelter and Breakout.
When we spoke with the actor we expected a straight-forward interview. How very wrong we were; the following conversation includes some singing, a bit of ice cream tasting, and a dash of Charlie Chaplin, proving why Fraser is the go-to guy if you’re looking to give your movie some spark. It’s all about the squirrels in animated movie The Nut Job, or maybe all about the nuts.
Will Arnett (TV’s Up All Night) voices Surly, who’s on a mission to find the best tasting nuts for winter. When he discovers a store filled with his favoriate food, he plans a heist.
Problem is, the store is a front for a gang of ruthless robbers planning a heist of their own, on a bank. The furry heroes have to stop the robbers to save the town.
The voice cast also features Brendan Fraser (Furry Vengeance), Liam Neeson (Taken 2), Katherine Heigl (Life As We Know It), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) and comedian Jeff Dunham.
The Nut Job grossed a not so inspiring $59 million in theaters, to mixed reviews from moviegoers.

Our brains can only remember so much. Between where we parked, how to make brownies and facts we learned on Wikipedia, the space inside there is crammed in like one of those Storage Wars lockers. Try as we might, it.s impossible for most of us who aren.t savants to fit everything in. So, we forget. A lot. Especially when it comes to movies. I have a working theory, based on no scientific evidence whatsoever, that most of us have reached the limit of the number of movies we can actively recall. Therefore, every time we hear about something new like say The Best Man Holiday, we have to swap an unimportant film out like say Furry Vengeance. It makes a lot of logic sense, and it would help to explain why the hell most people reading this will only be able to remember a couple of the following...

Well, at least he won’t die in this one. At least, not for a while, anyway. Who knows after a few seasons, though? Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”, “Lord of the Rings”, and a ton of other movies and TV shows where he dies), has signed up to replace Brendan Fraser on TNT’s thriller TV series “Legends”, from “Homeland” and “24″ producer/writer Howard Gordon. In the show, Bean will play Martin Odum, “a deep-cover operative who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. But his own identity comes into question when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t who he thinks he is.” Bean last appeared on the ABC TV series “Missing”, where he, yes, died in the pilot episode. “Legends” will be based on the book by Robert Littell. Fraser was originally set to play Odum, but departed due to creative differences.

Brendan Fraser. Master chameleon? That’s the premise of the new TNT drama “Legends”, which has just signed on movie star Brendan Fraser as its leading man. After making some questionable choices on the big screen (taking a flyer on “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” was definitely one), Fraser is now making a rare foray into TVland with the project. He has a number of TV voice work to his credit, and did a recurring guest stint on the sitcom “Scrubs” for a bit. But this, if I recall correctly, is the first time he’ll be doing regular TV work as the lead. “Legends” is being developed by Howard Gordon, Jeffrey Nachmanoff (“Homeland” and “24″) and Mark Bomback from an original novel by Robert Littell, and will star Fraser as “Martin Odum (Fraser), a deep-cover operative who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job.

So normally, when celebrities release a fragrance, the ad is aspirational. Gaga went in the opposite direction for the commercial for Fame, her first perfume. Gaga herself tweeted the ad out this morning, “The Official Trailer “Fame” The Fragrance Directed By: Steven Klein.”

Man, I’m kinda worried for Brendan Fraser’s current career trajectory. On second thought, skipping out on the sure-thing “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”, the sequel to his “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, was probably not the best decision ol Brendan could have made. What does he have to show for it? “Furry Vengeance”, something called “Whole Lotta Sole”, and about a half dozen films coming in the next few years that doesn’t look very promising in terms of big box office draw. If he’s not careful, the guy who saved us from evil undead mummies not once, not twice, but three times might end up in direct-to-dvd land starring in generic action movies. Case in point: Fraser has now attached himself to something called “Split Decision”, a film that he will star and produce. The plot kicks off when two children (Holly Deveaux and...

Remember when Brendan Fraser’s name in the credits promised a good movie with plenty of laughs? Yeah, it’s been awhile. The former mummy hunter might not be bringing laughs this time but he might be trying for another good film with Split Decision.
For awhile, it looked like Fraser could do no wrong, appearing in comedies like Encino Man and taking the lead in the Mummy franchise. However, his star soon dimmed, with some of his latest works (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Furry Vengeance) best left forgotten. Now, Fraser is trying once again to get attention with an action film, but a cliched plot might already be a bad sign.
I know there’s nothing new under the sun but children facing mortal peril because of a crime they witnessed is about as old as you can get in terms of storyline, and that’s...

Brendan Fraser's fame has been slipping the past few years thanks to forgettable family films like Inkheart and Furry Vengeance. But while he may be down, he's definitely not out. Fraser recently wrapped on Pawn Shop Chronicles, a Paul Walker-produced action comedy, and this is just one of nine features he has slated to hit theaters in 2012 and 2013. And the latest of these, could offer audiences a new side of the oft-goofy grinned leading man. THR reports Fraser has signed on to star in Split Decision, a thriller from King of Sorrow writer-director Damian Lee. The story begins innocently enough with a camping trip. While off with a family friend, a young brother and sister accidentally stumble upon a murder in progress, making them witnesses and thereby the two killers' next target. Fraser is set to play the kids' father, who must swoop in to rescue them from...

Though he hasn’t had the best of luck with some recent releases (indie comedy Whole Lotta Sole remains a festival release and the less said about Furry Vengeance the better), Brendan Fraser has certainly been busy. He’s adding to his list of upcoming projects by starring in Split Decision.Damian Lee has written and will direct the movie, which finds Fraser play a father to two kids (Holly Deveaux and Christian Martin) who head out on a wildness trip with a family pal (Daniel Kash). But their happy camping turns nasty when they witness criminal types Dominic Purcell and Ethan Suplee murdering someone and the villains decide that the young witnesses must be bumped off before they can alert the authorities. Naturally, Fraser has to rescue his sprogs before they’re killed in what sounds like a throwback to all those 80s kids movies where plucky youngsters were imperilled by gangster types.

The folks over at Fangoria managed to get their hands on some exclusive new clips and photos from writer/director Chris Wojcik’s action/horror flick “Rise of the Animals”, for which I am eternally grateful. Keep in mind, however, that all of this misplaced excitement is coming from someone with exceptionally questionable taste in cinema. For starters, I’ve seen “Birdemic”, “Sharktopus”, and “Skinned Deep” more times than I’m comfortable admitting in public. I also own every single movie Steven Seagal has ever made. Need more proof? Here’s the smoking gun: I have, in my possession, a copy of “Furry Vengeance” on Blu-ray that I bought at a supermarket. Jesus Christ, I’m pathetic. Anyway, “Rise of the Animals”, as you may have gleaned from the title, is an “animals run amok” flick as filtered through the goofiness of “Birdemic” and “Sharktopus”, two movies I obviously hold in high regard.

Just when I was about to file a missing person’s report on Brendan Fraser, this news comes to my attention; Variety reports that Fraser and Sienna Miller have joined the cast of A Case of You which stars Justin Long and Evan Rachel Wood. Directed by Kat Coiro (L!fe Happens), A Case of You is the story of a young writer who embellishes his online profile in order to impress a woman he has a crush on, but finds himself having to live up to the lofty expectations he put forth when he meets his dream woman in person. Fraser and Miller join a cast that includes Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, Keir O’Donnell, Busy Phillips, and best of all, Peter Dinklage.
Fraser, who last starred in 2011′s Whole Lotta Sole (I don’t know how I missed that one…), is gearing up for a busy couple of years.

Chicago – If you hear an unusual sound this weekend, it may be Jules Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Jonathan Swift spinning in their graves. The writers who have become an essential part of any growing person’s library have now been associated with a piece of 3D junk that insults the intelligence of everyone who sees it. “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” is not a trip worth taking.

I would love to support a “dumbed down” version of classic fiction that might get young viewers doing something that seems increasingly uncommon – cracking a book. But does it have to be this far down?...

Vanessa Hudgens has opened up about what she did to prepare for her upcoming film "Gimme Shelter". In an interview taped for the February 10 episode of "Rachael Ray", the 23-year-old actress revealed that she stayed in a homeless shelter for two weeks before filming the flick.

I don’t even remember 2008′s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” with Brendan Fraser. I’m going to assume it was fun. Or at least, harmless, since it did pretty well at the box office. Well enough to justify as sequel sans Fraser, anyway. In the man who would go on to give us “Furry Vengeance”, the studio has swapped in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but have kept Josh Hutcherson. Here are six clips from the upcoming movie, which looks pretty fun. Not great or brilliant or genius, mind you, but fun. Young adventurer Sean receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist–a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Felicity Jones (l.) takes it to the Alps in Chalet Girl.
Adorable Felicity Jones (The Tempest) stars in the snowy 2011 romantic comedy film Chalet Girl.
Reminiscent of a female Aspen Extreme, the movie stars Jones as pretty tomboy Kim, a one-time champion skateboarder who now flips burgers to support herself and her dad. Opportunity comes knocking when she lands a winter-long catering job in a plush ski chalet in the Austrian Alps.
At first, Kim is overwhelmed by this bizarre new world of champagne-sipping posh people, epic mountains and waist-deep powder. But then she discovers snowboarding, and her natural talent soon sees her training for the end-of-season competition, which could win her major prize money and maybe even the affections of her boss’ handsome son Jonny (Ed Westwick, TV’s Gossip Girl).
