There were two further scenes in the script that occurred after what is the current ending of this episode. The first showed firemen arriving at the house after the bonfire has been extinguished. Claire and Anita flirt with the firemen, music is blasting, Claire is taking pictures and George and Ruth have their own interactions with the firemen. The next scene showed Nate lying in the grass alone, probably thinking about Lisa. Both scenes were cut in favor of ending the episode with the bonfire. Several shots of the first scene can be found in the "Cut by Cut: Editing Six Feet Under" featurette available on disc 5 of the Season 4 DVD set; however, the second scene was cut before it was even filmed.
The next-to-last scene of the episode, which takes place between Brenda and Joe, did not fit into the original schedule, and it was shot separately, with Alan Ball directing.
Rainn Wilson appears years later again as Arthur Martin in "Transparent Musicale Finale", the TV movie end of "Six Feet Under" writer Joey Soloway hit series "Transparent."
