Ricky, a young Florentine boy, is upset with the situation at home. His parents have been having problems because of the father being away from home, working long hours and constantly traveling for work. At school, Ricky and his classmates get an unexpected surprise by the arrival of Gabrielle, a man who is going to guide the class into a enactment of the Nativity play. Gabrielle makes the kids get interested by telling the story more interesting for them.
The school has made a wonderful discovery of a Filippino Lippi altar piece that gets the attention of art lovers all over Italy. If sold, the school stands to make a tidy sum. The director, has other plans, as she wants to keep the found treasure for everybody in the school to enjoy. That does not prevent an evil man to send two thieves to steal the precious item, which Ricky is instrumental in derailing.
