Monday Am: Universal’s The Fall Guy has tumbled to $27.7M, this after a lower-than-expected Sunday of $6.9M, -33% from Saturday. Global cume is at $64.4M, a $1M off. Some are worried as to what this lower than expected result means for star power, specifically for Gosling coming off Barbie. The 3x Oscar nominated actor did everything to promote Fall Guy, down to dressing up as Beavis at the Hollywood premiere of the film. Look, as we mentioned, Fall Guy is third highest opening of his career stateside, Barbie being an outlier. Moviegoers in a streaming age are far too sophisticated and deliberate before they leave the house and an original Hollywood stunt-set action film wasn’t worth their time. Perhaps Gosling as a different kind of astronaut than he was in First Man is worth the time in Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary. In the end, as of late,...

Emily Blunt’s first Oscar nomination was for the type of role the actress doesn’t normally play. Over the course of her career, the London-born actress has played badass action heroes, musical heroines, even delightfully bitchy supporting comic parts. But in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” Blunt goes into a totally different mode to play a embittered and humorless long-suffering wife type. It’s a jarring transformation; but, given her versatility, a predictably excellent one.
Born to a former actress and barrister in London, Blunt studied acting in boarding school and began her professional career at 18, when she debuted on a West End production of the play “The Royal Family.” In 2003 she transitioned to screen acting with the British miniseries “Boudica” and “Henry VIII,” before making her theatrical film debut as a haughty, arrogant rich girl in independent drama “My Summer of Love” in 2004.

The road to movie stardom for Dwayne Johnson is one of the unlikeliest in recent memory. A third-generation professional wrestler known the world over as “The Rock,” Johnson nabbed a supporting role in 2001’s “The Mummy Returns” and made such an impression that he starred in a successful stand-alone film, “The Scorpion King,” the very next year.
As his film career progressed, it became evident that, despite his success in action films, Johnson had a distinct flair for comedy, which he began to show off in such films as “Be Cool” (2005), “Central Intelligence” (2016), “Moana” (2016) and in his biggest-grossing film, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017). One of the most recent was “Jungle Cruise” (2021) for Disney.
But it’s in high-concept action cinema that Johnson has found his greatest success, especially after hopping aboard the highly lucrative “Fast and Furious” franchise. He even got his own spin-off adventure, “Hobbs & Shaw” (2019), which...

Dwayne Johnson is now an A-list actor who has immense star power. He has been in some major franchises including Fast and the Furious and Jumanji. Johnson is a big part of the audience’s interest in these franchises and their huge commercial successes. However, Johnson had to work his way up in the industry when she started in the 2000s.
Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five
Johnson had a passion project that he wanted to star in ever since he became an actor. At the time, Johnson did not have the star power and stature big enough to pitch studios to greenlight a film. The actor had to build up his career for 15 years and even turned down a major franchise to bring his passion project to the big screen.

When Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt Were Warned By Disney Over Their S*x Toy Joke During Jungle Cruise Promotion (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt share a fantastic dynamic, and it all began with their film Jungle Cruise. The former WWE champion might reunite again with the Oppenheimer star for the upcoming mixed martial arts movie The Smashing Machine. Dwayne and Emily’s fun banter is often shown in their interviews. At one point, they went a little bit overboard and received a call from Disney asking them to dial it down a bit when their banter began to involve adult toys.
Their film Jungle Cruise came out in 2021, and besides Emily and Dwayne, it also featured Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti in significant roles. The movie was based on Disneyland’s theme park ride, in which a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through...

Dwayne Johnson has been leaning into his heel character in WWE a little too much that fans have now started going against him. In the recently concluded Oscar Awards, Johnson graced the red carpet among other celebrities. He had a little chat and a game of ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ with Amelia Dimoldenberg of Chicken Shop Date fame. Fans are pretty sure that the Black Adam actor was not happy when he lost the game to Dimoldenberg.

However, it might be a stretch, since the actor had lost another game of Rock Paper Scissors against MrBeast a couple of years back and was totally cool about it. He even made a donation of $100,000 to charity.

Dwayne Johnson seems to have a lot on his plate at the moment. From being introduced to Tko Group Holdings as a member of the Board of Directors to stepping in the ring as his in-ring persona The Rock and duking it out with other superstars of the WWE. But at the same time, it seems like he’s still focused on his future in the film industry with several projects down the line.

Oscars 2024 just got a little Nsfw after John Cena walked onto the stage naked to present the Best Costume Design category. Cena’s point was to prove why costumes were so important and his Barbie co-star Margot Robbie couldn’t stop blushing and laughing at his hilarious antics. But fans also noticed how well-maintained the WWE star’s body was. His clearly demarcated abs were one of the highlights of this Oscar evening.

Dwayne Johnson got emotional talking about a potential on-screen reunion with Emily Blunt in Benny Safdie’s upcoming mixed martial arts drama, “The Smashing Machine.” Johnson’s comments came while speaking with Variety’s Marc Malkin at the Oscars during Variety On the Carpet presented by Directv.
Blunt has been in talks to join Johnson for what will be Safdie’s solo directorial debut — a biopic about Mma and UFC champion Mark Kerr. Blunt has been eyed to play Dawn Staples, Kerr’s wife.
The film would mark an on-screen reunion for Blunt and Johnson, who previously starred together in Disney’s 2021 feature “Jungle Cruise,” an action-comedy about a charismatic riverboat captain (Johnson) and a determined explorer (Blunt) on a journey through the Amazon jungle in search of a mystical tree with healing powers. Talking about “The Smashing Machine,” Johnson said it’d be “different” from the pair’s first venture.

In the latest in a long line of updates, cameras might soon be rolling on a sequel to the beloved 20023 body-swap comedy Freaky Friday, Lindsey Lohan suggests.
We’ve been hearing noises about a sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday for a long time now, although last year gave us no firm news on the possibility of the film happening. We did get the original film’s two stars, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan, both popping up at various points to confirm that talks were ongoing – but nothing concrete materialised.
The last real update we got was in the summer of last year when it was suggested that both stars were in negotiations to return to the roles of Tess and Anna Coleman, although no news of a green light from Disney followed. According to World of Reel, the project ‘could begin shooting very soon’ with Lindsey Lohan confirming that...

Harvey Guillén is “optimistic” we’re headed toward a world with a queer Disney princess. The What We Do in the Shadows and Wish actor said this week he thinks “we are in the life span of that potentially happening.”
“I think they’re making strides in the right direction,” Guillén told ComicBook.com of Disney’s queer representation. “I think it’s hard to rebuild a wheel that’s already been in motion for a while, and it’s hard to think of a new direction, especially in where we’re at with the world, but they’re putting their best foot forward, I think. Executive turnover dialed up the palace intrigue in the Magic Kingdom this week.
Walt Disney Studios announced on Monday that 15-year veteran Sean Bailey would step down as president of its motion picture production group – a job in which he oversaw splashy live-action remakes of beloved animated properties. In his place, Searchlight Pictures co-head David Greenbaum was elevated and will report directly to top film boss Alan Bergman.
A creative shuffle amongst senior Disney film executives was always going to happen, many industry insiders who spoke with Variety said. As Disney CEO Bob Iger continues to aggressively cut costs amid a nasty proxy battle with billionaire investor Nelson Peltz – and the company’s movies suffer from an uncharacteristic box office slump and creative torpor – many saw a move like Bailey’s as inevitable.
“Disney film needs a shot in the arm, clearly,” said one top agent speaking on the condition of anonymity.

“Till” star Danielle Deadwyler and “Black Adam” director Jaume Collet-Serra are teaming up for “The Woman in the Yard,” a thriller from Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.
Sam Stefanak wrote the screenplay for “The Woman in the Yard,” though the film’s logline hasn’t been disclosed. It’s scheduled to be released in theaters on Jan. 10, 2025.
Blumhouse founder Jason Blum said he’s been trying to find the right project to work on with Collet-Serra for “over a decade.”
“’The Woman in the Yard’ is the perfect match, a film that’s ambitious in scope but modest in budget that combines Jaume’s vision with the incomparable Danielle Deadwyler,” Blum said in a statement.
In addition to starring, Deadwyler is executive producing “The Woman in the Yard” with Collet-Serra, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg and James Mora. Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain will serve as producers. Haley Pigman and Jungyoon Kim...

Emily Blunt became a bit of an action star after starring in films like Edge of Tomorrow and The Adjustment Bureau. But there was one action film she was cast in where she was thought to be a major detriment to the movie.

Blunt starred in the 2015 feature Sicario directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. She played a young FBI agent in the action thriller, and had as much input in her character as the filmmaker did. Being she was playing a woman surrounded by very masculine characters, it was important for Blunt’s character to maintain her femininity. But at the same time, Blunt still wanted her character to exude the same kind of strength.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s decision to star in Benny Safdie’s upcoming solo directorial debut “The Smashing Machine” was a massive departure from his typical creative preferences. The wrestler-turned-actor became one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars by prioritizing family friendly blockbusters that could attract all demographics. But “The Smashing Machine,” which is currently in development at A24, will see Johnson taking a darker, more personal approach to tell the story of Mark Kerr, the Mma legend who famously struggled with an addiction to painkillers.
In a new interview with Variety, Johnson recalled how the unlikely project came to fruition. Johnson explained that he and Safdie first began discussing a film about Kerr in 2019, when the actor’s Seven Bucks Productions acquired the rights to Kerr’s life story. Safdie was also a fan, and reached out to Johnson about working together on the project. But when the Covid-19 pandemic hit,...

Dwayne Johnson might be jumping to A24 for Benny Safdie’s Mma drama The Smashing Machine, but he’s determined to stick to the roots that helped make him one of the biggest stars of the silver screen. In a featured article focusing on Safdie’s next project, Johnson told Variety he has no plans to abandon “four-quadrant movies” despite getting dramatic for his role as Mma fighter Mark Kerr in Safdie’s next film project with A24.
“I want to be clear not to say that this is an abandonment of big, four-quadrant movies,” Johnson told Variety about confronting his most dramatic role yet. “I love making them, and there is tremendous value and importance in [them] … but there’s a time and a place for them. I’m at this point in my career where I want more. And I don’t mean I want more box office. I mean I want more humanity.
