- TriviaHoratio berates Jake Berkeley for twisting the evidence in the case to fit his theory instead of his theory to fit the evidence. This is a loose reference to Sherlock Holmes's famous quip about theorizing before one has all necessary data, as one "begins to twist facts to suit theories instead of theories to suit facts".
- Quotes
Detective Jake Berkeley: [seeing Jeff Murdock being brought into an interrogation room] Why is he in here?
Lieutenant Horatio Caine: We caught him with the weapon that killed Nick Townsend.
Detective Jake Berkeley: Why'd you find that?
Lieutenant Horatio Caine: I followed the evidence, Jake.
Detective Jake Berkeley: So did I.
Lieutenant Horatio Caine: Yes, but in your case, you allowed the evidence to fit your theory, Jake, instead of the other way around.
I had written earlier this season that I didn't think "Natalia Boa Vista" was a good choice to be promoted as a regular CSI field worker and - even though you know they aren't going to make her into a murderer - this woman does not add anything to the credibility to the prestigious CSI position. This episode, once again, points that out and she seems to be more trouble than she's worth. On the plus side, at least we don't have to see this obnoxious character "Nick" (her ex) anymore.
The ending in this one was nice with David Caruso's "Horatio Caine" showing his compassionate side, once again. If this was real life, I'm sure the people who have him as their boss would just have the highest regard for him.
