Some scenes had to be filmed in secret due to the ongoing legal proceedings of the real life Informer 3838 Royal Commission.
While the mini-series begun its production in April 2019, it took months of pre-production and script re-edits due to the Royal Commission many of the cast were informed to return to the filming of other projects and they received their scripts in secret when they were told to come into set. Those in the main cast would need to read news that would come up every day during the commission and script editors would have to re-write certain scenes. It ended its production in late October 2019 just weeks before the Commission handed down its verdict on the Lawyer X scandal.
Due to the harrowing, confronting and intensity of filming the scene where Terry and Christine are shot it sent Hodson actor Jacquie Brennan into shock and later described filming the scene as "absolutely horrific" and "the entire scene left my entire body shaking" Other Hodson actor Rhys Muldoon called it "the most brutal scene filmed" in a series of tweets he called the scene 'dark and poignant ' .. Many other scenes that were filmed for the series had cast worried about their personal safety as it was highly likely when the episodes went to air it could've made "certain" people pretty mad, those certain people of course being the real life Gangland Figures who survived the Melbourne gangland war..
Based on real events that happened during the Melbourne Gangland War and the fallout from the Informer 3838 scandal.
