"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.

We finally have a face (and voice) for one of the biggest bad guys in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, as THR reports that Ralph Ineson will play Galactus the Devourer of Worlds in The Fantastic Four.
There had been rumblings that Javier Bardem was being eyed for the role of Galactus, but I’ve got to say that I’m more excited about Ralph Ineson tackling the role, particularly with his wonderful voice. The actor is always a highlight in everything I’ve seen him in, with fantastic roles in The Witch, The Green Knight, The Northman, and the recent First Omen movie. Eagle-eyed fans will know that Ineson has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before, playing a Ravager pilot in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Robert Eggers may not be able to boast of a vast filmography, but his directorial path is what many directors in Hollywood would like to have so much. Having directed only four movies, one of which is set to be released later this year, Eggers nonetheless is one of the most critically acclaimed filmmakers with all his films gaining an overall success.
And though his 2015 folk horror debut The Witch starring Anya Taylor-Joy brought him international fame, Eggers is very unlikely to ever rewatch his first directorial work again — for an understandable reason.
Back in 2022, in one of his interviews to The Guardian, the director revealed that he couldn’t stand watching The Witch several years after the film had been released — and the director’s decision to stay away from his own movie wasn’t related to its quality or the actors’ performances, but rather Eggers’ own approach for creating The Witch.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star in Hell Or High Water director David Mackenzie’s British thriller Fuze, due to start filming in June.
As we reported in February, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is going to be leading the cast of a new British-set action thriller titled Fuze. While rumours regarding the actor’s chances of being the next 007 refuse to go away, Taylor-Johnson looks to have secured himself another chance to build on his excellent action credentials.
The film is being directed by David Mackenzie, the filmmaker behind 2016’s hugely underrated Hell Or High Water, a Texan bank heist drama starring Chris Pine that is well worth seeking out if you haven’t seen it yet. Following that, Mackenzie collaborated with Pine again on 2018’s Outlaw King, although that film released to a more muted reception.

Robert Eggers’ kind of film rarely lands him a bulky paycheck from Hollywood. The director is just three movies old and all of his films are rooted in historical folklore. Eggers is currently working with an ensemble cast of youngsters for his fourth film, Nosferatu. His fame began with the 2016 horror film, The Witch, which marked the debut of Anya Taylor-Joy in Hollywood. However, Eggers is not a big fan of his first film.
Robert Eggers hates his debut film, The Witch, starring Anya Taylor-Joy
Eggers did not blame Taylor-Joy or the other performances in the film, but revealed that he couldn’t bring his vision for the film onto the screen. He further revealed that it was only in his third film, The Northman, that he grasped the art of making the film he wanted to do.

Director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse & The Northman) made a name for himself with The Witch, a film that most directors would be proud to have on their résumé, especially as their first feature-length production.
In the same vein, as artists in any discipline are often especially critical of their earlier work, Eggers also admitted that he did not want to watch this 2015 horror movie. The Witch, the full-length feature debut of the New York City-born director, turned out to be one of his incredible works. The story revolved around a family of New England Puritans in the 1630s.

After receiving positive reviews from critics and grossing $40 million, the film went on to become a critical and commercial success. Nonetheless, Eggers is the one who is unable to stand the movie, which starred Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, and Kate Dickie.

As if taking his older brother Alexander’s hulking, muscular presence in Robert Eggers’s The Northman as a personal challenge, Bill Skarsgård cuts an imposing figure in Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World. Every bit as jacked up as a professional wrestler, Skarsgård looks the part of a man hell-bent on revenge against Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the dictator who hosts an annual televised event in the film’s post-apocalyptic landscape known as The Culling, which claimed the lives of our hero’s family when he was a child.
Given his brawniness and the relentlessly brutal means with which he trains for his vendetta in the forest with the help of an Asian shaman (Yayan Ruhian), it’s more than a little dissonant that our deaf-mute protagonist, Boy, has his inner thoughts expressed in voiceover by H. Jon Benjamin, of Archer and Bob’s Burgers fame,...

Robert Eggers shared his terrifying take on “Nosferatu,” offering up the atmospheric first look at his remake of the famous vampire film to theater owners at CinemaCon this week. In the trailer, Lily-Rose Depp, playing a devout young woman, prays earnestly by candlelight. “Come to me, come to me, hear my call,” she intones before a hand reaches out to grab her neck.
And we’re off, with Eggers’ camera sweeping across wintery villages, dilapidated castles filled with secrets, and rats scurrying across cobblestones, portending some kind of primeval force that’s about to cast a shadow over everything. The movie evokes the best of classic horror — it’s moody, unsettling and also eerily beautiful. But it’s not just artful. There’s also blood gushing from necks and gangs of stake-wielding villagers hoping to use folklore to battle these unseen forces.
“Does evil come from within us or from beyond?...

Bill Skarsgård has become undead bloodsucker Count Orlok for the big screen.
Skarsgård leads Robert Eggers’ long-awaited “Nosferatu,” a reimagining of F. W. Murnau’s 1922 film. Skarsgård plays the titular villain, with Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, the source of Orlok’s obsession. As Orlok tries to seduce her soul, Ellen’s husband Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) fights to save his wife from turning to the dark side.
Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said the film “definitely ain’t your father’s ‘Nosferatu,’ and [Eggers] will definitely bring new meaning to the phrase ‘Christmas feast.’”
The footage Focus premiered at CinemaCon (though not released online today) was as daring and intense as any film Eggers has made, complete with some chilling black and white sequences, a man biting the head off a pigeon, streets teeming with rats, and rooms engulfed in flames, not to mention a truly deafening, bone chilling score.

In second, Universal’s Monkey Man kept steady toward a $10.1M opening, after a $3.58M Saturday, -15% from Friday/previews. If ya think about it, even though this much grittier than any Bollywood film as we know it, it’s on the high-end of where movies for Indians audiences typically open. As a point of reference, Animal, which was a big bloody Hindi action movie last year opened to $6.5M. Typically the audiences for Bollywood movies come out in the first weekend and then fall apart in weekend 2. It will be interesting to see if Monkey Man has any legs off its B+ CinemaScore.

On April 5th, 20th Century Studios will be giving a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it Here). The film stars Nell Tiger Free of the Apple TV+ series Servant, and will be hitting the big screen with an R rating for violent content, grisly/disturbing images, and brief graphic nudity. That’s a rating the filmmakers really had to fight for, as director Arkasha Stevenson revealed to Fangoria that there’s a birthing scene that nearly earned the film an Nc-17 rating – mainly because it featured a thirteen second shot of a woman’s vagina. That shot had to be whittled down to secure the R.
Stevenson said, “The horror in that situation is how dehumanized that woman is. This has been my life for a year and a half, fighting for the shot. It’s the theme of our film.

Well, it's official — Netflix's live-action remake of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" paid off (for the company at least). Avatar Aang (Gordon Cormier) will get to continue mastering the elements, now that "Avatar" has been renewed for seasons 2 and 3.
"Avatar" is just the latest anime that Netflix has brought to live-action. On this spectrum, "Avatar" falls below the well-received "One Piece" remake but ahead of the swiftly-canned live-action "Cowboy Bebop" (that even original series creator Shinichirō Watanabe couldn't finish).
Netflix hasn't stopped there. The streamer is letting "Stranger Things" creators the Duffer Brothers take a crack at "Death Note" and has had a live-action "Gundam" movie in development since 2021. Other studios are getting into anime properties as well: Lionsgate has recruited "Shang-Chi" director Destin Daniel Cretton to adapt "Naruto" into a live-action movie.

1976's "The Omen" still holds a special place in the minds of most horror fans, introducing audiences to the adorable demon spawn known as Damien and subsequently rewriting genre rules for decades to come. It only took a couple of years for the original movie to get a (much less well-received) sequel, and there was even a full-fledged remake back in 2006, so it's not as if turning this property into a franchise is anything new. In a sense, maybe it was only a matter of time before even this untouchable classic ended up getting a prequel origin story of its own ... never mind the fact that the original had most of its backstory pretty much covered already. No matter — here comes the prequel "The First Omen"!
But what if we told you our hype for this prequel was increasing, and that's primarily due to the involvement of "Servant" star Nell Tiger Free...

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two has avoided the sequel trap and exceeded everyone’s expectations. The film improved upon the lore that the first film developed while also evolving the lead characters in complex and intriguing ways. Villeneuve has done the impossible with the two films as Frank Herbert’s novels were once deemed unadaptable.
Dune: Part Two has performed very well at the box office
However, to make his cinematic adaptation work, Villeneuve has taken some creative liberties and made certain artistic and creative changes in his adaptation. This included the exclusion of the character of Alia Atreides in Dune 2 who plays a big part in the novel. Villeneuve states that this was a deliberate choice and has plans for the character in Dune: Messiah.

"Dune" brought us the pale and terrifying villains of House Harkonnen. The enormous, pale, floating Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård) leads the house that stands in stark opposition to House Atreides, putting him in direct conflict with the surviving Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), who is seeking to strike back in the wake of his father's death and the fall of his family's power. Standing alongside the Baron is the savage Glossu "The Beast" Rabban (Dave Bautista), the Baron's nephew who has something to prove in "Dune: Part Two" after failing House Harkonnen in quite a humiliating fashion. That's why the Baron calls upon Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (Austin Butler), another nephew who may have the ferocious, sadistic warrior's instinct required to keep Paul Atreides from becoming the revolutionary leader who threatens their stronghold in the "Dune" universe.

Willem Dafoe is pointing to the black-and-white differences between him and “The Lighthouse” co-star Robert Pattinson.
In the introduction to A24’s Screenplay Book for Robert Eggers’ 2019 two-hander “The Lighthouse,” Dafoe wrote that while he “got along well” with Pattinson, they are distinctly “different” actors.
“He was less enthusiastic about rehearsing and felt it inhibited spontaneity,” Dafoe wrote. “That said, our distinctly different approaches beautifully mirrored the different psychologies of our characters, which I think [director] Robert [Eggers] instinctively knew and used to help us find our roles and play the scenes.”
“The Lighthouse” starred Dafoe and Pattinson as two lighthouse keepers on a remote island. The duo descend into surreal madness by the sea over the course of the black-and-white film. Pattinson previously told Esquire that he found the rehearsal process to be “very, very frustrating” with script read-throughs and became “quite angry” with writer-director Eggers in the pre-production process.
