We all knew that this season would lead to this point. It was basically obvious for anyone who read the Bible. But what's even more fantastic is that this is generally speaking a wonderful piece of storytelling even for the non-believers. They could watch this show and this season in particular and appreciate it for the nice plot threads that are set up from the beginning and then how they are payed off here in this episode.
I'll go straight into the meat of the subject and that is Jesus' meeting with Nicodemus, which was absolutely mesmerizing. The dialogue, and man do I need to talk about that. What the show succedes at the most is the dialogue. We all know the biblical text and how sometimes how cheesy that sounds because honestly the biblical text is mainly only the highlights of what actually happened and because it was quoted so many times, so many people know it already. So to see a show that fills those blanks with creativity and honoring the source material and making overall a deeply moving experience is something to be truly appreciated. The way the biblical text intertwines with the script here is remarkable and is one of the many things that set this show apart from any other interpretation of Jesus' life and ministry in television or cinema.
This is the episode that pays off the plot thread that was in this whole season and the way it does is incredibly rewarding and satisfying. And the end with Matthew joining the disciples was again so realistic and beautifully shown. Overall, this show, which is made outside Hollywood, although it had a few inaccuracies and there are still some problems but more on the technical aspect, inspite of that it has at its core: creativity, passion and the message of hope in a world where that is no longer promoted. And that is something to be treasured, appreciated and supported in all means. And as soon as I'll end season 1 I will donate for this show because it truly deserves and shows like this truly deserve to be supported and promoted for what they are so that people could hear the Good News! 10/10
