This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6 episode 11.
Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the masterminds and showrunners of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, have a keen appreciation for fan service. By all accounts the two men and the writing staffs they’ve assembled are unfailingly kind and polite individuals and those qualities carry into their respective relationships with the shows’ fandoms.
That’s why Gilligan and Gould were uncommonly forward in announcing well ahead of time that Breaking Bad lead characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) would appear in Better Call Saul’s final season. We’re all friends here, so why try to even hide such a notable “twist?”
That’s also why when it was revealed that Better Call Saul season 6 episode 11 would be titled “Breaking Bad,” it was fair for most fans to assume that this was the episode in which Walt and Jesse appear.

Launched by “El Chapo” producer Camila Jiménez and its creator Silvana Aguirre, L.A.-based The Immigrant, in which Fremantle has a 25% stake, has hired Oscar-nominated filmmaker Javier Fesser to direct its upcoming Spanish series “Custodia Repartida” (“Shared Custody”), a dramatic comedy from María Mínguez (“Vivir dos veces”) and Juanjo Moscardó (“Amor en Polvo”).
The company recently expanded its Mexican team with the appointment of Claudia Valdez as director of physical production. Valdez brings more than two decades of experience from across film and television to The Immigrant and will be critical as the studio enters production on multiple television projects.
One such project, “Shared Custody,” is a dramatic comedy unraveling after the fallout of separation between two parents, and an examination of that increasingly common dynamic in the modern world. Many families cannot afford to live alone, because often those with money have little time and those who do have time frequently struggle financially.

Emmy-winning editor Skip Macdonald didn’t know “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan planned on creating what would eventually become a sequel movie on Netflix, “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.” All he was told at the start was that Gilligan was planning a special project to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the beloved AMC drama. When he then discovered it would be a continuation of Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul) story in the form of a Netflix movie, the editor was thrilled. “This is gonna be great the fans are gonna love it,” Macdonald recalls thinking, in an exclusive new interview with Gold Derby. “I was loving being involved in it and it was something I was really looking forward to getting started on.” Watch the full video webchat above.

“Breaking Bad” only stopped airing six years ago, but the show has long since solidified its status as one of the greatest shows in television history – over its run, the show earned 110 Emmys; it placed No. 3 on IndieWire’s Best TV Shows of the Decade, Ranked. The dark AMC drama about a mild-mannered teacher turned meth kingpin boasted enough jaw-dropping episodes to fill a “Top 10” list several times over, but even a show as consistently good as “Breaking Bad” had some episodes that clearly stood above the rest. Here’s the absolute best “Breaking Bad” episodes, ranked:

On Friday, Netflix drops the highly-anticipated “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie,” finally answering “Breaking Bad” fans’ questions about what happened to Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) following the critically-acclaimed show’s series finale. It still feels surreal that a “Breaking Bad” movie is even happening in the first place—it won’t truly feel real until it’s actually on Netflix, you know?—but for writer-director Vince Gilligan and leading man Aaron Paul, the feeling’s more cathartic than anything else.
And from the looks of Netflix’s official behind the scenes featurette for “El Camino,” Gilligan and Paul clearly hope the feeling’s mutual when it comes to people watching the movie. “I think all of our fans will just be so thrilled to see this next chapter,” said Paul. “I think it really gives some closure for this character.”

It's not very often the Casual Cinecast does a documentary as their main review, but They Shall Not Grow Old was just too interesting to pass up. Mike, Justin and Chris head to the theater to see Peter Jackon's new World War I documentary, as it has (finally) gotten a proper theatrical release! There are also some opinions in regards to the Academy Awards 2019 announcements last week, and more!
Before getting into the main review, the show starts off with a segement called "What's on Our Minds!", which is where the hosts discuss whatever they've watched, read, or done that week! This week Chris published his first written review for Cold Pursuit, the new Liam Neeson revenge movie out this week. Also after he was shamed on the show last week, Chris finally watched the delightful classic Singin' in the Rain. The question is... did he love it?

The last few months of the year are known as Oscar season because it is the time in which studios release the films they intend to have contend for the Academy Awards. But just because you release your film during this time doesn’t automatically make it good enough to compete. Here are some infamous examples.
Just because you have a good story, an esteemed actor, or a knowledgeable director doesn’t mean you’ll end up with a good film. A good film is ultimately a collaborative effort, and the end result relies on many different factors that may or may not be controllable. I like to believe that the Oscars try to celebrate those moments in film where the pieces came together just right. Of course, some films think they can take shortcuts in order to reach the level of esteem that would be rewarded by the Academy.

Principal photography is complete on Miguel Ángel Vivas' (Reflejos) latest thriller. Secuestrados tells the story of how a Spanish family suffers an express kidnapping that takes place during one single night and is handled by a group of criminals from Eastern Europe. The Orphanage's Fernando Cayo, Ana Wagener and Manuela Vellés (“Camino”) portray the family victim of this model of kidnapping imported from the South American mafias that have installed themselves in Spain - it's a phenomenon that has become increasingly popular in recent times. Vivas commented that his aim is to transport this new reality into a genre film setting, using documentary film techniques as well as the use of split screen and long takes to maximize the sense of actually “being there” feeling. The film is a co-production between Spain's Vaca Films (Celda 211) and France's La Fabrique 2. Check out the production blog here.

Madrid -- Javier Fesser's mystical "Camino" walked away as the big winner Sunday at the 23rd Goya Awards, taking home nods for best film, director, actress, new actress, supporting actor and original screenplay.
"Camino," which tells the true story of a young girl's death, her mother's staunch Catholic beliefs and the Church's effort to canonize the girl, saw young Nerea Camacho win the new actress award and Carme Elias, who played her mother, take the lead actress honor.
" 'Camino' is a love story and vindication of the right to be happy. In these times, it's important to hope," said producer Jaume Roures, head of Mediapro, which also produced Woody Allen's Spanish film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."
Penelope Cruz seemed to sum up the international vibe of the evening when she picked up her Goya for supporting actress in "Barcelona," the same role that earned her an Oscar nomination.

" 'Camino' is a love story and vindication of the right to be happy. In these times, it's important to hope," said producer Jaume Roures, head of Mediapro, which also produced Woody Allen's Spanish film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona."

Madrid -- This month's San Sebastian International Film Festival will feature a competition lineup laden with name-brand directors, fresh-faced talent and a sprinkle of Latin flavor from South America.
Michael Winterbottom ("Genova"), Kim Ki-duk ("Dreams"), Daniel Burman ("The Empty Nest") and Hirokazu Kore-eda ("Still Waiting") will all contend for the festival's Golden Shell, organizers said Wednesday.
The world's most important Spanish-language festival's penchant for politically and socially charged features that court controversy also will continue with at least two Spanish titles that are sure to stir things up.
Jaime Rosales' "Tiro en la Cabeza" already has tongues wagging as it focuses on terrorism in the restive Basque region, the festival's home turf, and Javier Fesser's third feature, "Camino," deals with faith, Opus Dei and a dying 11-year-old girl.
