2 Fish 1 Coconut
Past few years I see this ongoing tendency from American Dad to start seasons out pretty lousy and getting much better going forward towards the end.
This season seems to be no exception to that rule again, even though I'm reluctant to hope that the upward line might have started somewhat earlier this year then previous seasons.
After a couple of lousy episodes (in my opinion), I thought the last 2 episodes were increasingly watchable. And also this episode was pretty enjoyable to me. OF COURSE, it's not American Dad from many years ago. But come on people, let's be real: those times are gone. Still this episode was quirky and fun and felt like a true American Dad formula. And even though I did really enjoy the fishy main story, I am still wondering if I didn't think the secondary storyline with the coconut was even more fun!
Also, I was incredibly happy to finally be able to recognize Hayley as HERSELF a little bit again: a sincerely caring character that wants to help the whole world but just painfully sucks at doing so! Instead of the Hayley I have seen changing for at least 1,5 seasons now, into that totally uninteresting dumb stoner-zombie that doesn't seem to care about anything....
I would say keep going this way American Dad. And please, PLEASE, keep Hayley alive as that warmblooded, caring, lazy, funny goof we've always known and loved!
