Genuinely Funny

The way John approaches situations is absolutely hilarious and he has a uniquely genuine point of view. I enjoyed watching the first episode last night and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Very Real

This is the most real feeling thing I have watched all year. When I watched it I felt every emotion possible which is something every doc-esque program should strive for. The pov format makes you feel like whoever is being interviewed is talking to you.

How to Make Small Talk

Howard Wilson's docu comedy series kicks off with small talk. An art in itself as Wilson discovers.

As he chats with a travel agent about relationships. He ends up going on a package trip to Cancun.

Wilson unsurprisingly has a miserable time in Cancun. The younger people are too busy partying and do not want to engage in small talk with him. Wilson does find a schmuck.

It is a meandering episode which shows that this kind of faux comedy documentary is not easy to sustain. You just know a lot of it is set up.

Wilson started off promisingly enough. He chats with a professor of philosophy about the future of mankind.

When he asked the same question to a man attending a wrestling event. He thought Wilson meant the wrestler Mankind.

Surprised to learn that the man catches online child predators. Wilson arranges to meet up with him and discover more about his work.

It then fizzles out from there. There are some random scenes, the bizarre one is with actor Kyle MacLachlan trying to get past the subway gate.

Good show with a disgusting start.

Warning: Spoilers
It really is a shame that someone so visionary and with an opportunity as such as a spot in HBO, would think that the best thing to do for his first episode was to participate in such an inmoral and unethical act as catching so-called "child predators" and exposing innocent men in obvious entrapments. A really awful way to start your show and it makes it seem like this is just another cash-grab. Taking away that though, this show really has showed great potential and some real passion coming from John Wilson.

Complete joke

A 10 year old could make a better video. The amount this guy says um is nauseating! No clue what he is talking about, just repeating basic facts every human knows. This should be on public access. This is my first review, and this show is so bad I had to say something to warn viewers!
